1 starMy experience with this company was horrible. I had them check on my water heater due to it not heating up. They told me they would charge me $700. Then they tell me they couldnt find the part so just pay $600 to clean the water heater. They wanted to replace the water heater for a $5,000 charge. I called around and found someone who found the part and installed it for $150. This company is robbing hard working people who are trying to make an honest living.Review fromLiz B

1 starWe paid 5K to have them clean the main drain pipe out that runs the length of the house. I keep smelling sewage, they came out and checked it again with a camera. They didnt go under the house. They said, no leaks! So my husband went under the house and found a large puddle of stinky sewage today. Roto ****** said they didnt see a leak. Then they told us that we could replace the entire pipe for ****** if we did it ourselves. Why didnt they mention that before we paid them five thousand dollars. My fault, I didnt get a second opinion. Never use them again.Review fromMarilyn L

1 starDo not hire this company in *******, **********!!! They are misleading, dis-honest and extremely excessive in their charges. I asked the office what they charged to blow out the pipes under my house. I was told they could not reveal the cost; they would have to send an employee out to look at the job and he would give me the estimate. Two men came out with their most expensive ******, never looked at the open vent and charged me $3,154.50. Being elderly and uninformed, I submitted since they brought their most expensive machine. In less than one hour, they blew out my pipes, sent a camera through (4 minutes) and charged me over $3,000! Most cold-hearted, dishonest company I have ever delt with.Review fromChristopher B

1 starOne star is too high of a rating for this company. Although the service technician seemed nice the whole situation seemed to be a scam to upsell service. The attempt at work to clear the drain line lasted 15 minutes maximum. Then it was an attempt to upsell to hydroflush for $2000, then attempt to give a discount to $1500. The next day I found multiple plumbers who offered hydroflush for $545 to $750. I feel extremely cheated out of $395 for a few minutes of inferior work. Just hired Roto Rooter of ********* for a repair of kitchen sink drain at my parents home in ************... They charged $2,675.00 for a funky repair to install less than a foot of ABS drain pipe and two clamps........... Outlandish pricing!!!! Buyer Beware!!!!Hiring them is asking to be ripped off!!

1 starUnethical Practices and Incompetent / Bad Actor Technicians Our recent experience with Roto Rooter has been extremely disappointing, highlighting severe unethical behavior and unprofessionalism within their organization. One of their technicians came to fix our garbage disposal and said that he preferred payment in cash. Without our knowledge, he documented that we went with another provider. Despite purportedly "fixing" the garbage disposal, he damaged it. It started leaking shortly after, flooding our cabinet and causing significant water damage to our wooden kitchen floors. When we reached out to Roto-Rooter for help, they refused to assist, citing the absence of an invoice. This was despite the fact that they should be held accountable for the actions of their employees under agency law, where a company is liable for the acts of their employees under their scope of employment. After speaking with two managers, we were repeatedly told that nothing could be done without an invoice and they informed us that many clients try to "scam" then with these types of complaints. What a wonderful position for a customer to be in -- damaged property by a Roto Router technician and the company saying they will not do anything to resolve the damage caused by their own tech.Also, the technician in question conveniently left the company shortly after servicing us, further raising suspicions about Roto-Rooter's hiring practices and internal controls. It appears that this behavior is part of a broader pattern that Roto-Rooter condones--unethical company practices, hiring bad actors as technicians and leaving the client with hundreds of dollars in damages for which the company itself is liable. *** I strongly recommend avoiding Roto-Rooter and opting for a trusted local plumber instead. Our experience with Roto-Rooter has been marred by unethical practices and incompetent technicians that ultimately left us with further damage and a *******************.Review fromRachel N

1 starLast year, we experienced a flooding accident and called Roto Rooter for help. However, we were disappointed with their service. They used scare tactics such as "Category 4" water and promised us new bathrooms to persuade the owner. This was distressing for the three seniors living in the home, as they felt harassed by the supervisor using these scare tactics. We believe that Roto Rooter took advantage of our situation, as other companies quoted us much lower prices. A year later, we were surprised to find ourselves sent to collections and now have to fight a $15,000 bill. This is an unreasonable amount for any senior to handle. We strongly advise against using Roto Rooter's services.
