Submitted by ************** Contacted RR on 7/9/23 to request a service call for blocked kitchen sinks. The first call I made, the call taker said they have a 10:00 appointment available for the next day. I thought that was odd that they could provide a definitive time. I was very pleased though. I then called back to ascertain if we could move the appointment up to 8:00 am. The call taker said absolutely. Neither call taker stated that they only provide 8:00 to 12:00 windows for morning requests. My wife heard the conversations as well, and confirmed that both call takers gave definitive appointment times. To be clear, I would not have been surprised to receive a window rather than a definitive appointment time. However, by the manner in which these call takers provided a specific appointment time I was under the impression that they had a technician available for the morning response. The next day at 8:20 when no technician had arrived or I had not been contacted I called to follow up. The call taker that answered immediately stated they do not provide definitive appointment times and only windows are provided. I requested to have a supervisor contact me. I was assured that a supervisor would contact me. As the day went on I received updated alerts that the technician would be on scene at 10:00 or 11:00. Then 12:30. The technician arrived before 12:00 and did his job well. He was polite, neat, and unclogged the problem lines. I never received a call from the supervisor. This false representation of response times by two separate call takers has lead me to provide a customer satisfaction rating of one star. By providing misleading response times I requested their service as opposed to contacting another plumbing company. I also lost money because I could not go to work and make appropriate arrangements.

My outside drainage lines were clogged and broken in spots. They are outside and run from my back yard to the street in the front. The RR technician responded and without checking the system out, quoted me $2,800.00 to clear my drains. After some discussion, he agreed to do it for $1,000.00. After an hour, The technician knocked at my door and stated he had not completed the job. He said I would have to pay him an additional hour ($1,000.) for him to complete the job. Feeling trapped, I ok'd the second hour. I was never told the first $1,000.00 was for one hour of work. After the second hour, he said the drainage pipes were still clogged and it would take a camera to view inside the pipes. He said the camera would cost an additional $550.00. Feeling I had gone this far and wanting the convenience of already having them out, I agreed to pay for the camera. Once, the camera was used, I was advised by the technician's supervisor that they would have to cut my cement and replace a 6'00 section of drainage pipe.. The cost would be nearly $17,000.00. He also said the price was only good if I had them do the work the next day. I told him the next day would not be good for me and he said the cost would be higher if I waited until the following Monday (3 days). I ultimately decided not to use their services. I had my drainage tubes cleared three years ago by another company and the cost was $350.00 including the camera scope. These guys are rip off artists!

First and foremost I should've depended on my insurance company's vendors instead of Roto Rooter. On September 5th of last year, my rental house in *******, ** was flooded due to a faulty toilet. My wife called for their services. They did an inspection of the main sewage pipe that lead out into the street. First complaint they didn't show us the results of the findings they found with their camera. And then they put in a whole new pipe by excavating concrete and digging into the front yard of my rental. The total cost of the new sewage pipe was $14,765.00. After all restoration was done by Roto Rooter including the dryers that were utilized to dry the water damaged walls and floor floors- about 2 months later I received an invoice stating I owed them an additional $14,616.04 for the restoration part. My insurance adjuster stated that the insurance company invoiced originally for only $5,387.07 for services rendered. But the accounts receivable in *****, ** threatened me with a mechanic's lien on my rental house if I didn't pay the rest off. This incompetent company made a Category 3 damage into a Category 4 damage. I will never use them for services anymore. They're modern scheisters out to get money they don't deserve. Additionally our insurance adjuster who worked specifically with the mitigation portion of our claim stated Rotor Rooter violated insurance codes turning our class 3 water damage into a class 4 by spraying more water onto already wet walls and flooring. We would be willing to file a complaint with the Superior Court but the cost would not be worth it.

In a response to Citibanks request from Roto-Rooter to answer my complaint RotoRooter stated I signed their invoice. I had never seen an invoice until Citibank sent me a copy which was in their response. The only signatures on the invoice is theirs with the exception of my signature transferred from a credit card hand held device.Their technician when first approached quoted me $450 without even looking at the problem. When I objected and mentioned I would seek other estimates he said first let him look at it. He went to my tenants unit and shortly came back to me and said it would only be $260. Although still pricey the urgency of the line backing up compelled my accept. He did the work in less than hour. He came to me and said he was done and held out a credit card device for signature. I asked him about a receipt and he said he would email me one.I never got a receipt and it actually slipped my mind until I received my credit card bill, thus I initiated the dispute. I had contacted Roto-Rooter on 12/01/2022. The woman answering the phone took my information and said someone would get right back to me. I never heard from anyone. After receiving both mine and Roto-Rooters information Citibank resolved the dispute in my favor crediting me with the $115.00 difference. Now Roto-Rooter is attempting to collect the $115 from my tenant. Roto-Rooter has acted in bad faith and in an unethical manner if not illegal (no signed invoice and failure to provide timely receipt).

On 11/22/2023, my tenant called me about leaking water in the kitchen, and asked me if I agreed to the $6,688 of service fee with Roto-Rooter. At that time, I decided to agree with his request because I was told it would be difficult to find a plumbing service before Thanksgiving, and other plumbing companies' service fees were almost the same. Later, I questioned his excessive service fee after searching the website 2022 Plumbing Cost Estimates | Average Leaks, Pipe *********************** After all, you would agree on the following cases:Nobody would call a plumbing service to check out their pipe before it shows the sign of broken. The Roto-Rooter Service Company's website doesn't have a special service fee for the emergency issue despite the repair done on 11/23/2022. Last, it should list the price for each service done with a 15" pipe in the invoice before giving the Service Contract. Thanks

What a rip off! I called Roto Rooter on a Friday evening after discovering a leak in our sewer line. I explained our problem carefully to friendly receptionist, and a serviceman arrived in an hour. He said he was not prepared to fix the problem because he was given incorrect information, but would need to charge $79 for the five minute visit, and come back in the morning. The following morning a new person showed up, located our leak near the city hook-up, but said someone else with a camera snake and high pressure hose would need to come next, but I would need to agree to a $1,500 charge! I felt desperate and stuck because of sewage leaking onto our city street. The simple blockage was located and blown out by high pressure hose, which all told took less than one hour. Total work time for three different plumbers was under three hours, and cost us $1,500. Roto Rooter never again!

Never again will I call Roto-Rooter! I was charged $285 to clear a plugged toilet. It took the plumber less than 30 minutes. It was on Christmas Day, and I called Roto-Rooter because they advertise that they do not charge extra for nights, holidays, etc. We were expecting company and once the plumber was here, I agreed to the charge. By contrast, I had a plumber from another company come to check a leak by the water heater. He charged me $120 and spent a full hour, including going up into the attic to see if the leak originated from there.

Since the plumber's visit; I have called Roto-Rooter headquarters on three different dates. They have a recording that asks you to leave a message. I left messages requesting a call-back regarding the problem; but to date, nobody has called me back.
