    ***** was great. He arrived on time both days he was here and diagnosed the issue weve been having with our ** since the install in 2023. He also gave a great suggestion that other techs had not before and it has helped significantly with our overall comfort and how hard the ** works on extra hot days.

    We contacted Smith Plumbing in late March ********************************** our kitchen. This was resolved after three separate procedures. At the same time we asked them to replace an Insinkerator hot water dispenser which had stopped functioning. We offered to purchase the device, but they insisted on procuring it from their supplier. The installation took about 20min, since they were replacing the same model and the hardware was already in place. The technician then asked for payment. I asked for an invoice. He was unable to produce one, but said they'd send us one. I paid the total for all the work, minus the $100 we had already paid. I waited about a week, and finally called and an invoice was sent. The Insinkerator Model HWT cost $339 at ****** or **********. They charged a flat fee of $1400 for the device and installation, which was not itemized as to charges for parts and labor. I called to seek an explanation for their ridiculous charge. He stated that they pay approx. $100 more for the device from their supplier, but stated that the Insinkerator Model HWT they procured is superior to the same make and model sold at ****** or **********. I find that hard to believe. I asked how they came up with a $1400 flat fee, but couldn't get a straight answer. He stated that their labor charge is over $300/hr. Average labor charge in **************** is $75-$150/hr. Still, with a reasonable markup for the device and a charge for one hour of labor, the $1400 fee is absurd. To their credit, they agreed to refund approx. $500, and this was done. I would like the BBB to advise Smith Plumbing A) Stop charging ridiculous fees, expecting that customers won't question their calculations; B) Don't expect payment without presenting an invoice at that time; C) Invoice must be itemized to reflect charges for parts and labor, not just a flat fee.

    Thanks for taking the time to let us know of your concern ******. Please give me a call and I'd be happy to refund whatever amount you believe is fair for the work completed. Just for clarification, there's a lot more that goes into pricing than materials and labor. We have truck expenses (gas, maintenance, tires, insurance, tags), employee expenses (uniforms, cell phone, benefits, Sick Time, PTO, workers comp) and overall business service expenses (call takers, dispatcher, plumbing manager, general liability insurance (which is wickedly expensive for plumbing) rent, utilities, property taxes, warehouse management, accounting, and much more). And, of course, the warranty on our work so that if the new Insinkerator fails, we come out and replace it (because we bought it and we're the warranty holder.) I understand things are expensive today and there's no way we can compete with a "do-it-yourselfer" who buys the product and installs it themself. We know the pricing in the market for other licensed Master Plumbing companies and we are always competitive with them. But we have a 100% satisfaction guarantee on our work and our pricing, so kindly give me a call and we'll work out a price that you believe makes sense and is fair to you. Respectfully, **** GM

    I just had Electrician, *********************** from Smiths *********************************************** come & check my electrical ************* to be sure everything is good. I also had him install 5 new smoke detectors as mine were really old. ******* is very knowledgable & I really appreciated that he took time to explain what he was checking & why. Just excellent!
