I contacted Smith Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical for an A/C replacement quote. The salesman told my wife that if we replaced the A/C then we HAD to change the furnace as well. This was quoted for over $12000. I contacted the salesman and asked for just an A/C replacement quote and, again, he insisted that we HAD to replace both the A/C and the Furnace at the same time. Again, I told him that I just wanted a quote for the A/C and the quote I was given was almost $3000 more than what I had received from other businesses. Also, this quote from Smith was only good for 5 days (high pressure sales tactics). The salesman tried to scare me by asking what happens if your furnace blower goes out in a month? And I informed him that the furnace blower was replaced less than 6 months go so I would make that company come back and do repairs. I did some research online and also asked other HVAC professionals about this and was told that replacing the furnace and the A/C at the same time was NOT necessary and that Smith Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical was just trying to up-sell unneeded equipment and increase their profit margin. I highly suggest to anyone reading this, do NOT fall for high-pressure sales practices and do your research before you agree to unneeded and unnecessary repairs from companies trying to increase their profit margins at your expense. I appreciate what you're saying *****. Over my career as a business owner, I've had many people ask my company to add air conditioning to an older furnace (your furnace is 18 years old) and we find that the downside of customer unhappiness with having to change out the furnace very soon after the ** is installed (at a much higher price than if done together) isnt worth the upside of making an ** sale. Since you have a Lennox furnace installed, here is the exact verbiage on the life of a Lennox furnace and ** from the Lennox website, The industry average service design life for most forced air furnaces is ***** years, and the industry average service design life for most air conditioning condensing units is ***** years. So, with your current furnace being 18 years old, its close to the maximum design life. Of course, its your option to replace only the ** on your old furnace, but as a company we dont do that. Besides, a mismatched furnace and ** doesnt work as well as a matched system, so there can be performance issues. We didnt upsell you to a new furnace to drive our profit margins, thats a bit disingenuous. Certainly not wanting to put a brand-new ** on an 18-year-old furnace isnt unreasonable and over the years as a business owner, I find most people appreciate us informing them of the downside of putting a new ** on an old furnace. You can always say no, which you did, and now you have the risk of the furnace failing soon and the higher cost of replacing it, and not my company. And yes, I have had customers in the past demand we install a new furnace for free because, in their opinion, our new ** installation damaged their old furnace. So, once bitten, twice shy. The reason we have a 5-day expiration on our quotes is because over the past 3 years, prices on equipment and materials have, at times, changed very rapidly. For example, these tariffs that are coming WILL impact furnace and air conditioning prices and if you were to call us about a quote 30 days later, the prices might have changed. Its not a pressure tactic at all, but as a business, if I have to pay a higher price on equipment or materials weeks after the quote is presented, we have the option to requote the job to the then current pricing. It seems like a reasonable business practice, right? I wish you the best with your new ** installation and thank you for the opportunity to participate in your selection process. In 2023, shortly after I purchased my townhome, I needed a new furnace (25+ years old). I liked the fact that SP&H is a woman-owned business. They came out and installed a great new furnace and an air-duct cleaning. I was completely satisfied with their technicians and service. A short time ago, I received an email stating with my membership, I received annual furnace check-*** and would I like to schedule. I was able to schedule for the same day. **** G came out and switched out my thermostat for a new programmable, energy efficient thermostat (free w/membership). I have several pets and we were just chatting about the fur and dirt my babies bring in. He told me about an air filtration system that he had installed on his furnace to cut down on some of the allergens and pollutants in his home. I recently had a diagnosis of asthma for my kitty and was thoroughly interested in this for my home. He explained how it works and gave me a brochure to look over. (NO pressure whatsoever.) I decided it would be a great addition for my home. He was back within the week and installed The PremierOne Advantage on my furnace. He was so professional throughout both visits and very informative. I highly recommend SP&H for their excellent customer service, fantastic technicians, and affordable pricing and financing. ***** came to diagnose furnace issues. Because of age, I will be purchasing a new one since parts are hard to find on the old one and cost prohibited. Did a great job finding the problems and offered many different solutions. Would highly recommend.Smith Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical

***** was amazing! We had our furnace go out on Christmas Eve and Smith sent ***** over within an hour (skateboard Christmas Eve tends to be slow, I was not expecting that quick). ***** had to run out to get a part and was back and quickly fixed our furnace.
