      Empower Retirement took over for our ********** Retirement plan. Per our teamsters 401k retirement plan we can take a hardship withdrawal towards the purchase of a new construction home. We have submitted more than enough paperwork showing our contract to build, bank loan information and closing costs. All they do is say they need more information. There isn't any more information to give. They have everything and still will not process our withdrawal. We are trying to close on our construction loan and cannot access the funds for closing. Every time you call all you get is a representative that cannot help in any way and has nothing to do with processing the withdrawal. If I could give Empower and it's process for a hardship withdrawal negative stars I would.

      This company refuses to ***** my hardship withdrawal to prevent my eviction, I have called several times and spoke with several people regarding my hardship withdrawal and every time they say something is missing from the paperwork. Ive done a hardship before to prevent eviction with fidelity and all I had to do was send in the eviction notice from the court and it was *****ed not with empower, throughout the several people I have spoken with in this company they have told me that I am missing the date of when I will be evicted if funds are not payed and clearly on the document it says that ,this company has told me to tell my landlord to write on a court ordered documents and when the landlord did they told me the could not use the court order documents anymore because it wasnt updated. I am also in the process of filing a complaint with the department of labor for benefits because clearly this company is handling business in a unethical way and doing things thats against the law . Hopefully they will be shut down or put out of business!

      Empower Retirement Horizons out of ********. After distal tendon repair surgery, I applied for a hardship withdrawal from my 403B only to receive a check for $800. My monthly salary is $6000 a month. My doctor's note submitted was for three months of recovery clearly stating from June 8 to September 8, 2022.The 2017 summary of benefits states that I may apply for a hardship due to my surgery for medical reasons. There is nothing on the hardship withdrawal application or on the summary of benefits that states I have to reapply every pay period for a hardship withdrawal. There is nothing on the summary of benefits that I will only receive wages lost. After several hours of being placed on hold. I was told by a representative that Horizons uses internal policies stating that only wages lost can be provided. When questioned that those guidelines should be made public to the people they serve. I also told them that they need to update the application to clearly state that only wages lost will be accessed. Nor does the summary of benefits, this is misleading and a disservice to those that truly need it.The application does not state that anywhere, it states that you may request a reasonable amount. Reasonable according to whom? My credit and my ability to provide for my family is at stake. I know have to resubmit my application by going to a public library to scan over 20 pages and wait over a week to see if I was approved. I hope my creditors will understand....not.
