We purchased a monument for my husband in March of 2022. We were given a timeline of 4-6 months. We are now 13 months out and there is still no delivery date being provided. On 6/21/21 - I ordered a foot stone from Spartan Giordano for my mom, ***** ******. It has not yet been delivered to St. ******** ******** in **** ****** ** I was charged a total of $1,220.88 for this stone. It is now paid in full. I was told a number of times that St. ******** ******** was backed up and not allowing any installations at the time that I approved the final layout for the footstone. In AUGUST OF 2022, I received an invoice for the balance and I called and spoke to a woman there who checked with the gentleman and led me to believe it would be installed soon. In light of the same, I forwarded the requested payment, which was cashed within days. However, again, no stone was put in. About 2 1/2 weeks ago I called St. ******** ******** directly and asked when they thought they would be allowing installations again. The person I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about and checked their records. They advised that an application had to be submitted to the cemetery for installation and that to date, they had not received one for my mom from Spartan Giordano. Through email and also a number of phone messages to which no response was ever received, I asked for them to contact me to resolve this. I waited for a response from them - again nothing! I gave it another week, again no response, so I called the cemetery again to see if they might have done anything in response to my messages. I was advised they had now filed an application but nothing further. This has been going on way too long and I don't feel they are going to resolve - or even try to resolve the issue with me. I am rejecting this response because: I spoke to the individual at the cemetery a few moments ago. (6/13/23). The stone was brought there on 6/1 and was rejected by them due to poor quality/workmanship. They have heard nothing further since then.
At this point, I do not want this stone and am looking for a refund. Time element and workmanship are totally unacceptable.

I hope my email finds you well. About a year ago you were helping us resolving the case with Spartan Stone and Monuments in getting the gravestone work completed for my deceased father-in-law. Last December my mother-in-law passed away and I had to go back to Spartan Stone and Monuments to make the engraving. Unfortunately we needed to use them to match the engraving style already placed for our father. We agree with them 50/50 payment. On March 27th I have sent them the payment however the work has not been done and they are not responding to my calls and emails. Please see below the correspondence. I very much count on your help to get them to complete the work ASAP. They are arrogant and very bad at keeping the promises and I know we are not the only one facing the problems, but as I mentioned above we had no choice and have to use them. I am rejecting this response:1. We paid in March!!! And never insisted on doing it in cold rainy weather!
2. Since early May my cousin visited them three times to agree the date and every visit they failed the promise.
3. We called and emailed many times to agreed on the date and they put the but they never reply.
we insist this work to be completed by June 15th.
As I wrote in my complaint, this business is very bad and failed us for 1,5 years in putting the gravestone! We unfortunately had to go back to them to have matching engraving. They are arrogant taking money upfront and lying to your face!!! Disgraceful! Shameful family!

My mother passed away on 10/31/2022. I contacted. Spartan Stone and Monument that following day. I asked to have the date of death engraved on her head stone. We a paid them roughly $350.00 I was sent an email with a picture of the font for the engraving. I was told it would be handled 8 Months later and it still has not been done. I have sent several emails and called several times. They are not returning phone calls or emails. I find it deplorable that this can be allowed to happen. I have not been able to reach them and last time I spoke to them in March that it would be handled I would like to know what I need to do to get this handled. Contracted with Eric S at Spartan Stone & Monument on May 13, 2022. I mailed check number *** for $742.67 to Spartan Stone & Monument. Check cleared May 20, 2022. Called and left message September 2022 about etching still not being done. Called and spoke with Eric S on December 20, 2022, said he was waiting for sandblaster part this week. Hope to start etching next week. Will call when done. I called and left a message for Eric S on January 20, 2023 asking him to call me back about the etching. Called and left message for Eric S last month, April 2023, asking him to do the right thing and please do the etching as contracted. Per my telephone call today, the above complaint has not been resolved. I drove by the cemetery yesterday afternoon and the tombstone has not been etched with my mother’s information. It has been more than a month now (5/5/23) since Spartan Stone and Monument had said they would get to it in the next few weeks. Can you please reopen the file. Please advise me of the next step. On or about 7/21/22 I spoke with Eric S. about having an engraving lettering job done on a cemetary stone. I was given a price of $520.05 and an invoice, which I fully paid immediately. I was told the job would take a few weeks to complete. Months went by and nothing was done. I called several times and went into the merchant's business to inquire about the job. Each time I inquired (whether in person or on the phone) I was given a different excuse. The excuses ranged from "Eric had a heart attack"; "the truck broke down"; "the engraving machine is out for service"; "my off site worker quit", etc. On 11/21/22, I emailed Eric Reichart at [email protected] and asked for a refund. I also left numerous phone messages on their voicemail but to no avail. No one ever called me back or responded via email. On or about 1/13/23 I went to the merchant's place of business and spoke with the owner, Eric R******** about the status of this matter. I was given another excuse and I therefore asked for a full refund. Eric informed me that his employee (Eric S.)who has access to the computer (he claims he doesn't know how to use computer) was out sick but that he would immediately issue me a refund the following day. That day came and went and I didn't hear from anyone nor did I receive a refund. On 1/30/23 I went back to the place of business and both Erics were there. I again asked for a refund and Eric R********, after looking for my paperwork for about half an hour, advised me that he needed to call the credit card company and it would be a long process in order to issue a refund. He claimed it wasn't an easy process. After faking an attempt to look for the telephone number in order to issue a refund, he then stops everything and tells me he has to leave for a doctor's appointment. He attempts to leave his place of business and when I refused to leave he comes back in but insists he will not give me a refund and that I should call my credit card company and dispute the charges. I therefore call my credit card company and filed a dispute. As I wait for ** **** to dispute this matter I am filing a complaint against this man and his fraudulent, non professional business practices. As I was leaving the business, another woman walked in and had the same complaint! After doing some research it turns out he has numerous complaints against him for the same problems. In of 2021 I gave this company a deposit, equaling half the price of the headstone for my son, as they requested. I was told that the other half was not due until the work was complete. I was told that the stone would be in, in spring of 2022. When spring of 2022 arrived, I was told that they received the stone and were working on it. I reluctantly paid the other half of the deposit, hoping that it would speed up the process. My son died suddenly, and I went to the business in person or spoke multiple times via telephone when they answer or in person. I explained to them each time that every time I went to the cemetery to see if his headstone was placed was traumatic. I explained to that my son's grave looks empty and unloved. each time they would say it will be down tomorrow or early next week. To this day my son's stone is not placed and it's hurting my soul and my heart. they should be ashamed of themselves for treating people like this. I purchased a headstone from ********* ********* business which was sold to Eric, owner of Sparta Stone & Monument. When I purchased the headstone I had all Dad and Moms info engraved except for mom's death date as she was still living. Mrs. Giordano said the cost covered the future death date engraving. Mom passed on Oct. 30th, 2021 and in Nov. of 2021 I contacted ********* and was informed Eric was new owner and it was dba ********* but name was now Sparta. I spoke with Eric and explained that I needed mom's death date engraved and he said they did not profit from the purchase price and it would cost $300. We spoke for a bit and our final agreement was that he said he would honor the original agreement cause it was the right thing to do and there would be no additional cost. I thanked him and told him I didn't expect it to be done in the winter but if it could be done in the spring in time for our memorial service and he said he didn't see a problem with that. He sent me a template online and regular mail early spring and I approved both times. He sent me an invoice with a zero balance which I have attached and he gave me his word it would be done. The engraving is still not done a year later and I have spoken to him numerous times and each time I spoke he assured me it would get done soon as he already gave the template to the engraver in the spring. Now he blames the engraver saying he doesn't go to St. Johns cemetery in Stratford, CT often. (My mother's name is Margaret Sekelsky, dad is Adam Sekelsky). My husband passed 11 days after my mom who lived with us and as you can imagine, losing two family members in 11 days is traumatic enough without the emotional stress of continually (for an entire year) being assured the engraving would be done and as yet not. as you can see this is not only 100% a free gift I in know way was or am responsible for the completion of the work discussed in this complaint. I told customer I will do this as a favor on the understanding that it will be at our convenance. We will only do a free job when we have other work in or close to the location of her monument. As a side note she the customer was also informed that there was a delay on all our work due to me Eric R******** having a heart attack. This job is in fact scheduled to be done shortly but an exact date will not be known till the week of job.

I am going to choose the selection to disagree as it has been months since he also said this to me and for them to not have ANY other engraving work at the cemetery or in the area for close to an entire year is very hard to believe but obviously I have no other recourse. I do have compassion for his unfortunate health concern but as he said he had put this work order in to the person who does the actual engraving. I am so disappointed and feel as my family and I are just cast to the side because we are not paying twice for what we already originally paid for.

On March 9 the ******** /spartan stone monument co. cashed my check for inscription on my husbands stone. As of today I believe it has not been completed. I have tried several times to email, call and leave messages but I am getting no response. As of 2 weeks ago it was still not done. Please check out this company. We unfortunately are experiencing the same thing the rest of the world is experiencing including supply shortages and lack of sufficient work force. I understand the check was cashed in March, but we don't hold on to payments until it's time to do the work. We process the payment and then start moving forward with completing the job. The engraver is currently 3+ months behind due to these issues. We have cut the stencil for this job and will be completing it, unfortunately an exact timeline is not available at this time.Customer Answer

I am not agreeing with this complaint because I called local monument companies (3) so far and they are not having delay problems and said if i ordered from them now it would take 4 to 6 week to complete. This company (******** Monuments) cashed my check on March 9, 2022 and took the order at that time. We are currently going into 6 months now and the job is not done. The message that they sent on the BBB web is saying the state all around is having a problem, that is not so. Their company is having a problem. I just want this job completed first and second option would be to get my full payment back. The invoice requested 1/2 of the amount but on the phone the owner wanted the full amount. At that time I should have not complied but I did in good faith because of the previous owner of ********** Monuments. So can you advise me on what to do. Also this company does not respond to email’s or telephone messages. I have called them numerous times with no return response.
