I have been a customer for 6 years. As long as I didn’t need them they were great. If you file a claim it is a different story. Beware this company will lie to you to get your business. If not by commission most definitely by omission of what they don’t tell you. Save your money put it in a savings account don’t trust this company.

Being more forthcoming about what is actually provided to the customer when a claim is filed is just a more truthful way of being a company that people can use and not feel as if they have been ripped off.

If I could do less than one star I would. I called for service on an electrical issue and they schedule a company to come out but the vendor was a no show. I called back and was assured my issue had been escalated and someone would come out. They even contacted the vendor while was on the phone who set up another appointment and again no one showed up. I called in again and was scheduled with a different vendor. They arrived and said they could not help. They were unable to work on aluminum wiring and left. I called HomeServe again and they were reaching out to yet another vendor and received no call back for an appointment. Not even their vendors were returning their calls.
My issue was supposedly escalated twice and a call back from a supervisor was promised. No one ever called. I just called to cancel my service and was told the 75.00 I paid for repair that I never received would not be reimbursed even though that was one of my requests and confirmation was received that it would be.
Their hold time for calling in these requests was anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes and there was no hold music to let me know I was holding. For all I knew they just had me on mute. I've been transferred to incorrect departments multiple times and on one occasion was told the previous agent should had done a warm transfer and not just dropped the call on them since they were with the same department.
All in all I don't believe the money I spent on this service contract is worth it when I've waited three weeks to fix an electrical outlet issue that has yet to be resolved. Buyer beware!

Thank you for researching this issue. What kind of time frame can I expect an answer? The reason I am asking is that once my HomeService was canceled I purchased service from a different vendor. They normally require a 30 day period before their service begins. However, they are be able to make an exception and set up immediate service if/when they receive a letter on HomeServe's letterhead confirming the cancellation. I have asked for this letter from Jill T***** Office of the President, T`1 but there has been no response. I would appreciate getting this letter emailed to me as soon as possible so that I may get my electrical outlets repaired. Is there a different contact I should be using? Please advise. Thank you.

Update: I have not been contacted by Hannah even though I have left voicemail messages for her requesting an update. I have not been reimbursed the 75.00 for service that was not resolved. I have not received a letter confirming the discontinuation of my service from HomeServe. Since this letter was not received I was unable to expedite the service with my new provider and this issue is now listed as pre-existing which no longer is able to be fixed. We have gone without power to our living room, master bedroom and patio for almost two months. I now have no assurance that HomeServe will reimburse me if I am to use my own electrician. So, I am basically coming out of pocket for the fee involved even though a claim was placed during my contract with HomeServe. As per my original complaint, nothing gets resolved with HomeServe.

My mother who is 90 received paperwork from them thanking her for choosing coverage with their company. Fortunately she runs paperwork like this by me. By wording the letter as they did she would have probably paid for the service.

      VERY DECEPTIVE PRACTICE!!!1

The plumbing company installed a faulty water tank to begin with. We have not had hot water in 10 days. Claims they had to order a part. They never followed back up with us. I had to call the plumbing company and they seemed to not know about a part needing to be ordered. Getting a lot of run around after bill of sale was completely paid for. Home Serve was great with making the timely connections with the referred plumbers, but the plumbing company was not great at all.

Called HomeServe about my hot water tank leak. They sent out a plumber who advised me I needed a new tank, which I already knew. The plumber called HomeServe and then HomeServe called me stating it would cost $2,510.00. Being an insurance adjuster, I knew the average cost was around $1,500-1,800 in my area. The plumber advised me that they basically mark up the cost of the new tank so they can make money off of that as well. I advised HomeServe of this issue and asked if there was another plumber that could come out and give me a proper bid. They did have one but this would have to go to "level 2" and see if they would do this. I was advised I would hear back from someone in 24-48 hours, which did not happen. After 48 hours I called HomeServe again, talked to another rep that said he would escalate this to "level 2" and gave me the same info about taking 24-48 hours. Another 48 hours passed and I had not heard from anyone. I called HomeServe again and don't you know, they were just about to call me stating they approved a second opinion for issue. The second plumber came out and stated this would cost $1,850, which again, is about the average cost for our area. I advised him to get on it after he called HomeServe. I would say HomeServe should use this plumber all the time. The other plumber is just out to rip people off, in my opinion. Taking 4 days to decide a critical issue like a hot water tank leaking is irresponsible in my opinion.

Never used the company but have been receiving calls, emails and mail from them for years. Called the number to have my information removed and they "customer service employee" kept putting me on hold. After 20 minutes they finally came back and said ok you're removed but you will still be contacted for the next 4 to 6 weeks while the system updates. 0/5 ??

Called about an exterior water leak over a week ago. They said they're sending someone to fix the problem. After a day or two I called the plumber they supposedly called, and left a message. He called back at the end of the day and explained he is in ********, about 200 miles away. He just finished a similar job north of him and it ended up costing $8,000 because it was so far. He was reluctant to do the job because of distance. I was reluctant to have a bill over the $7,000 limit solely because he was so far away. I told him we'd have Homeserve find someone local. My husband called Homeserve from work and gave them a list of local plumbers he found on his phone. We of course called and explained to Homeserve multiple times what was going on. The people we spoke to said they were emailing to "someone" about this - upper management or level II.... Absolutely no communication returned from Homeserve. Nothing in a week, still waiting... Meanwhile our water is off and when we turn it on for basic needs, it's a geyser!
Something similar happened a couple years ago. We probably should have gotten the hint then. Another leak in a different spot. When my husband called it in, they said it would be a week before someone could come out. So he fixed it himself.
I just cancelled our service with Homeserve. They should not do business in ******** or anywhere they do not have reliable, local plumbers on call.
Even if someone from there had just called us and told us what there were doing to get us help, communicate with us, tell us they're trying. Or that they can't help. Nothing.
It's only about $100 per year for the service, but we've had it for years - maybe 8? It's BS.

Beware of their policies. They promise/ represent their warranties different then when you actually need to put a claim in. They scalp you with prices from THEIR technicians, they refuse to show you what the charges are for what was billed AND the technician billed for work NEVER done. They refuse to provide proof, supervisor never returns call so you are at their mercy. You must use their technicians … they overcharge . I got two estimates privately and they are $300-$350 less.then their technicians quoted!!!
