On March 9th I joined as a month to month customer, to see if this was a work out environment I would enjoy , after a few visits there are several very vulgar people there during the time I can work out so for me this is just not a zen place to enjoy. I canceled after only three weeks , now being charged 111$ plus change to cancel ! That’s ridiculous, they want to charge be a maintenance fee for being a member for less than 3 weeks. I am not paying that fee , it will be bad enough to have to pay another month to not go as they cannot get some of the men in that gym to act respectable.

*** ***** was held to her annual enhancement fee because it fell
within the 30 day window of her cancelation. Per the agreement terms, and
cancelation policy, member is responsible for 30 day notice to cancel, and any
charges that fall within that time. However, The Edge Fitness Clubs has agreed to waive this fee as a gesture of goodwill.

I've a membership at the EDGE Fitness club and I have asked them to cancel my membership because I am currently pregnant and I cannot use the gym amenities. I've sent them proof of my pregnancy along with a doctor's note and they refuse to cancel the membership for months now.

This whole situation is obnoxious!!! I did a year agreement which I completed and I called in February 2025 to cancel. I was told you can’t cancel at the location but thru an email. (An opportunity to delay the process) I now go through the email process to now be told 30 day notice to cancel which carry me into extended time. This is all a hoax to get the most out of a customer they can!!! To sum it up I try to cancel in march only to be forced into may just to pay more!!! This is predatory behavior and not right nor fair to the customer! I want these fees waived!! If I choose to cancel in march why am I forced to go till may? I’m not alone I see so many others who believe the same as me!!!!!!!!!!

The Edge Fitness Clubs has reviewed this complaint and the associated account. All cancelations are required to be sent via email with 30 day notice. This is outlined in all membership agreements, as well as posted on the company's website: *************************************************************************

*** ******s sent his request in after his March dues were already passed, therefore leaving him responsible for the April dues of $32.96, as well as the annual fee of $63.80. The Edge Fitness Clubs has already agreed to waive the annual fee, however *** ******* is required to make payment on the $32.96 dues in order to finalize cancelation.

On 4/22/24, I joined The Edge Fitness in ********* **, specifically requesting a monthly membership. A staff member confirmed this verbally, and I signed electronically. I was told I’d pay $26.58/month with a $1.06 down payment and provided my bank and debit card info.

I was never informed that I was placed in an annual contract, nor was I given a copy of the agreement in that moment.

In October 2024, I visited the gym to cancel due to travel and medical reasons outside the country. The staff gave me a card with *** ********* contact info and told me to email them. They made it seem simple. On December 2024, I requested cancellation, but unauthorized charges continued. As of March 2025, my cancellation request hasn’t been processed. Responses from *** have been unclear and incomplete.

On 3/22/25, I contacted my bank to dispute charges and block further transactions. Only today, 3/23/25 I was able to remove my bank account from the gym’s app, though my debit card remains linked, without my approval.

Per the gym’s website, I needed to provide one valid document and I provided three valid cancellation documents:
      1. Newly issued ********* driver’s license
      2. Cell phone bill in my name, foreign address and date
      3. One-way airline ticket receipt

Yet, my $79.74 refund request (for 3 months of unauthorized drafts) has been ignored. ***** last response on 3/23/25 stated that my automatic renewal was removed, but I still owe one more payment, with membership ending on 5/21/25.

I’ve contacted The Edge Fitness via their website, app, and LinkedIn with no response.

I tried to cancel my membership with the Edge Fitness. I stated the statute where I am entitled to do so and they are saying that their policy overrides state and federal law. I asked to speak with someone in the legal department after going back and forth with customer service. They refused to give me their information. I reached out to corporate and Travis from the sales department left me a message today saying the same thing. I would like to cancel my membership that I am legally entitled to do without penalty.

I am reaching out because the gym has been mistakenly charging my account about $283 for past trainer fees when I am no longer a part of the physical training program with this gym. They have apologized however the charge continues to come through. The charge of $283.73 was posted on my account March 4th. This charge originally started to come through about twice a week starting February 24th , but I was able to get those reversed. The last payment that actually posted was March 4th and I have been told I would have a check cut in the mail. I am still waiting to receive that check. I also keep calling the gym for updates but they are always either too busy or the person that I need to speak to about the account is not in the office. From my recollection he has been contacting corporate through email to rectify the situation but I have not been given any answers as to why these charges keep coming through . I can try to put a different method of payment on file but the same thing will keep happening. I am under contract so I can’t just leave the gym so at this point I am demanding answers on what is going on and wanting to know when I will receive my compensation. I have had to pay $30 for each amount for a stop payment from *** ******* that I have not asked the gun to reimburse so at this point it is costing me extra money. I have not even been a member yet for an entire month. At this point I no longer wish to be enrolled with this gym. I have attached the transaction in my bank account, along with the payments that the gym is trying to process that came directly from the edge fitness app and a screen shot that includes my membership agreement information and date that I signed up, along with the amount that I am supposed to be charged monthly which is $43.17 and the stop payment fee I had to pay.

      Business Response

      Date: 04/01/2025

The Edge Fitness Clubs has not collected these charges. *** ***** is advised to speak directly with her bank for clarification.

Membership was canceled over a year ago, as I choose not to renew my “contract”. Noticed a recent “re-enrollment” fee of 59.99 and have been consistent been paying 29.99 after canceling membership 6 months ago. Shady practices and was the “”
MAY (supervisors) kept on adding and changing words (pull the call) regarding my contract and their policy. Once I called them out she said there was nothing I can do. I cited policy that it is “preferred” not required.

I follow company policy to cancel my membership back in January of this year. Per company policy I had to give a 30 day written notice and then pay all debts owed. I did so and spoke with the company 20 times through email what’s being required of me to cancel. I paid the amount due and gave written notice. I also paid an additional month because they said it happens to fall in line with an additional month grace period. Needless to say I follow exactly what they told me to do. And I still being told under companies policy I can’t cancel my account. And I’m still
      Lock under contract until Oct.
long story short you try and do the right thing. And you either can’t do something for medical reason or fall on hard times and company still wants to bleed you dry. Gym membership are just as bad as credit companies anymore. No wonder people do want to sign contracts with gyms because they make it impossible for you to ever cancel.

The Edge Fitness Clubs has reviewed this complaint and the associated account. Attached is a copy of *** **********'s signed membership agreement. She signed up for a 12 month agreement term in October, and therefore is still within her membership agreement term.

When she requested to cancel, she was advised by both the local club, as well as the billing company, that she is not eligible to cancel unless with proof of medical, move or military. *** ********** stated it was for medical reasons and the club representative did advise her on how to cancel for medical reasons, however *** ********** has yet to provide the required medical note.

In addition to the cancel policy being outlined in all membership agreements, it is also publicly posted on the company's website - *************************************************************************

*** **********'s membership is setup on a pending cancelation for the end of her agreement term. If she is to provide the required proof of medical, move or military, she will be able to cancel early.

I have experience bad experience at the edge gym. I haven’t heard in multiple complaints. I sent emails I have calls last messages still haven’t heard back from corporate office. I’ve been wanting to cancel my membership and I haven’t heard back for about three months now.

Per the terms of this agreement, she is responsible for all 12 months, unless eligible to cancel with proof of move, medical or military. This policy is also outlined on the company's website for public viewing- *************************************************************************

Furthermore, on February 4, 2025, *** ******** was reminded of her agreement terms and the cancel policy when she inquired at her local club.

*** ******** has 2 payments remaining to satisfy her agreement term. The Edge Fitness Clubs has setup her pending cancelation for her, so that no further action will be needed from her. She will have club access through 5/24/25.

      Customer Answer

Well, are you telling me it’s OK for them not to contact me back when I left messages multiple times. And I have had multiple complaints of the **** ******** gym. The one in *********** amazing the people in **** ******** should be retrained. That’s one of the reasons why I want to cancel my membership. I have been mistreated multiple times and of course they’re gonna go by the contract that I wish I never freaking signed. I work in Customer Service . I take care of people and I have my own business and I would never treat any of my clients this way.

I have requested several times to cancel my Edge membership. They refuse to cancel me and keep charging me to the point my balance is double what it was when I asked for it to be cancelled.

      Business Response

      Date: 03/20/2025

The Edge Fitness Clubs has reviewed this complaint and the associated account. *** **** had an installment plan, where he was responsible for the agreement term. Therefore, he was not eligible to cancel early unless with proof of medical, move or military, per the terms of his agreement. The payments were not made and the account was eventually sent off to collections. However, this matter does appear to have been resolved by the local club who has now set *** **** up on their forgiveness plan as of 3/17/25.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 05/06/2025

They have now charged me $1,000 more so now my total is over $1400. I have tried to come to an agreement with them and they haven’t offered me any decent resolutions

      Business Response

      Date: 05/22/2025

The Edge Fitness Clubs did agree to help *** **** out back in March, by signing him up on their forgiveness plan. This would have removed the collections status, and settled the debt at a much lower amount than the collections agency would require. Shortly after, *** **** decided against signing for this plan and it was cancelled out. The Edge Fitness Clubs no longer has ties to this membership, it is held by the collections agency.
