    I am writing to file a formal complaint against Best Egg regarding the cancellation of my rent-splitting service membership without adequate cause or notice. I enrolled in the service when my apartment complex partnered with Best Egg and was initially approved to split my rent payments - a helpful option that provided financial flexibility when needed.

    However, I was shocked to receive an email stating that my membership was being canceled due to "inactivity." This is both confusing and frustrating, as I was under the impression that the service was designed to assist members as needed, not as a mandatory monthly requirement. During months when I could afford to pay my rent in full, I did so. But now that I need the service for my July rent, I am no longer allowed to use it and was denied upon reapplication -despite nothing changing in my financial situation.

    This abrupt cancellation has placed me under financial strain. It is unreasonable to expect members to use the service every month or face losing access. Best Egg’s model appears punitive rather than supportive. I also attempted to resolve the issue by calling customer service, but the representative I spoke with lacked the knowledge to assist me. I requested a callback from a supervisor and have yet to receive one.

    I am deeply disappointed by the handling of this situation and feel misled. I am requesting that my membership be reinstated and that Best Egg revise its policy to support customers during the months they actually need assistance - not penalize them for being financially responsible during others.

    On may 18 2025, my bank account was hacked and scammers opened a loan account on my name with best egg. They transferred the loan fund to my checking account. I called them as soon as i noticed it. Best eggs fraud department told me to return the money and said they will call me within a week and close the account.
    I returned the money but they haven't yet closed the account. Neither have they called me. I need this account to be closed asap. I did not open it.

    I have been using Best Egg for well over a year now to pay my apartment rent. Last month(May) there was an "error" with my account and i was unable to pay my rent through them. Unsure what the error was or how it happened, they never fixed it. My account said it was active and ok to use for June. They keep pausing my account on their end and enrolling me. Now im here dealing with the same issue again this month. They keep giving me the run around and im having to call multiple times. They give me a generic explanation. I pay to use this service every month.

    October 2024 we had Best Egg consolidate some accounts for us. Best Egg sent a$5,700 to the wrong creditor. We have been told by Best Egg they have bot reviewed the funds back from the incorrect creditor, Credit One Bank. I have traced the payment from credit one bank to ACI and from ACI to Cross River. I have emailed cross river three times. First contact they responded and they have not responded to any follow-ups asking where this payment went from here and how they are tied to Best Egg, if at all. This was two weeks ago. I really need to trace this down and I have no idea why the check wasn’t made to me from Credit One but I digress.

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my complaint and have determined that this does not resolve my  issue.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I would like to keep this open until I receive the payment off 5,700 from Best Egg as they have kept these funds since January.  Adding to that, I HAVE BEEN PAYING 2x a month for each bill, best egg and Amex since OCTOBER 2024! I’m paying high interest on a card that was supposed to be paid off October 2024. This has put massive restraints on us financially.We called Best Egg for MONTHS and were constantly told they did not have the money back from credit one.  So we are now paying interest for the 5,700 to best egg and high interest to American Express card best egg was supposed to pay. I am also requesting the online application and the recorded phone calls.  The card they paid we didn’t have anymore. The account had been closed bc of inactivity. We had cut up and pitched the cards over a year prior to this loan being created with Best Egg.  I’m 100% confident they made the mistake in selecting the wrong account to send the punt to from our credit report of accounts. I was told they reviewed the phone call and I gave them the wrong account.  This letter states I filled out the online application incorrectly.  Both of these statements contradict one another.Regards,

    On 01/22/2024 Best Egg sent me a settlement agreement on Account Number *******1 for $11,675.00, payable in twelve payments of $510.00 and eleven payments of $505.00 that were directly withdrawn from my checking account starting 01/2024 and continued through 02/2025. When the 03/2025 payment was not withdrawn from my account, I contacted Best Egg to alert them, and was told the 02/2025 was not recieved and the agreement was cancelled. I told them I had proof from my bank that it was paid and forwarded the bank statement to them showing that it was withdrawn from my account . They denied receiving it, told me the account was charged off, and never credited the 02/2024 payment. They sold the account to a collection agency, and notified me by mail April 24, 2025. My balance at the time they said I missed the payment was $4545.00, they sold the account for $16,892.98. I have the records of all my faxes to Best Egg trying to resolve this with them before the charge off occured, but was totally dismissed by them. I believe it was their way of breaking a legally binding agreement.

    I have been using flexible rent for almost a year through Best Egg. It has been wonderful and helpful for people with a fixed income. I payed half my rent upfront and another two weeks later. Last month they said they had a glitch and was supposed to be paying a higher upfront fee all along. This was told to me a week before rent was due. I am told no one can do anything and made to feel it was my fault. I was set to pay the normal amount and due to this I have several late payments with other bills I was unable to pay because of the higher payment one week before due date. The company does not care that it messed up. My mother passed away at the same time and I had costs with that and not having a reliable service has truly been devistating and depressing.

    I use Best Egg Flexible rent to make my rent payment for the home I am renting. My Rent payment each month is $1760. After insurance premiums and Best Eggs finance fee my rent each month comes to $1800.95. For the past eight months my payment at the start of the month has been $905, then around the middle to 3rd week of the month my final payment is $895.95. I can not make my 1st of the month rent payment with Best Egg until the 1st of the month. On May 1st, 2025 I signed on to make my $905 payment and the amount shown was $1.257. I used the chat feature on their web site and asked "My half rent should be $905 why is it $1,257?" Best Egg's response was and I quote "We wanted to let you know there's a display issue affecting your estimated upfront payment for May in your dashboard. Please be aware - you will not be charged that amount." I have a screen shot of this conversation that I will include. So I proceeded with making the payment. On the screen the amount it showed was $1,257 but based on the conversation I had where Best Egg stated "You will NOT be charged that amount" I proceeded with the payment expecting it to be $905. A couple days later they charged me $1,257. The very amount that state would NOT be charged. This overdrew my account with my bank and my bank charged me a $36 NSF and returned the payment. A few days later Best Egg notified me that they withdrew my rent payment to my landlord and I would be responsible for making the whole payment to my landlord. I don't make enough to do that. Plus Best Egg gave me zero notice in advance so that I might be able to come up with the additional money. So I contacted Best Egg and stated that I wanted them to give me credit next month for my NSF fee and my late fee of $191.95 I have to pay to my land lord and I was told a supervisor would contact me in 2 - 3 days. But that was over a week ago. I called Best Egg today, 5/15/25 and asked to speak with a supervisor and was told they will call me.

    I signed up for Best Egg flex rent. First month was March 2025 where i had to pay 2355 on the first and 990 on 3/17. In April i was assured this was the recurring payments, 4/1-1675 and 1650 on 4/15. There is a $25 charge to use the service. However i got a text and email that the payment for 5/1 was 2335. I called immediately for two days in a row and was assured that there was a system glitch and it would be fixed prior to 5/3 when rent is due. I was also told to turn off auto pay so that higher amount was not drawn from my bank account. I did. I called again today 5/2 and was told that no, that is the new amount. i asked to see some documentation, lending agreement. They kept pointing me back to "docuemnts" where there was an error online that no documents are available. They also refused to email it to me. They cant give me any documentation of my lending agreement and stated they can change the payments when they want. I asked them how i could possibly prepare for that. they dont care. my only option is to bounce a payment to them. or tell my landlord about this and pay a $330 late payment. This screwed me over so bad. Never late with my rent and now I will get an eviction notice. Im so sad and they dont care. I have nothing in writing as to how much the June rent would be either. Just terrible and illegal.

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my complaint and have determined that this does not resolve my  issue.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Bedt Egg violated the Truth in Lending Act in a failure to disclose loan terms, changing loan terms multiple times without disclosure from 3/2025-5/2025  this has severely, negatively  impacted my finances in having to come up with $700 additional dollars and 3300 up front for June rent instead of the regular payment amounts    the reason the law exists is to ensure consumers know and can anticipate the terms    If there is a breach-a notification must be sent to the consumer   I was  told this happened to all consumers and I still have not gotten any official notice as required by law

    Best Egg is a fraudulent company. They signed me up for a loan with a 9%interest rate then they went in and changed the terms to 22.69%. They have robbed me and I want other consumers to know that they are no good. God will judge them for what they did to me. I am thinking of filing a class action suit if they don’t honor my percent and reduce this loan. The papers I signed stated the 9%.
