1 starI closed my account in September of 2022 and was told I would not be charged the annual fee. They continued to charge the annual fee, without my knowledge as the statements they created did not mention a payment due, and in October I got a ding for a late payment on my credit report causing my credit score to drop 30 points. (Ive had a PERFECT payment history for the last 10 years.) When I called, they sent me a letter stating the account was closed with a zero balance. When I disputed with the credit bureaus, Continental Finance failed to rescind my late payment AND reported the card was closed in November instead of September as a way to 'justify' the 30 day late payment report. I've been locked out of my account so am unable to get statements showing proof that the card was closed in September and there was NO payment due to justify a '30 day late payment' report. I've called several times with no call back. At this point, I've reached out to the Attorney General and will be filing a lawsuit. My job is dependent on my credit score and I am at risk of losing it because of their mistake. I am currently 7 months pregnant in a high risk pregnancy and we are in the process of trying to get a mortgage. (A dip in my credit score has made this much more difficult of course) There mistake has cost me a substantial amount of work and stress that has made this pregnancy riskier than it should be. In July, had Chase bank electronically send a payment on July 1, 2022. Because it was a Friday and a 4th of July weekend, Verve did not get the payment from Chase until the 6th. This made me have to start over on my "on time" payments. I've sent in proof that the bank sent the payment in late because of the 4th of July weekend and that it wasn't my fault, but it was claimed that it was never received. A $300 card is not worth this BS! I'm tired of talking to "managers" that say they've received no proof. It was sent to the address in Buffalo, NY. I'd rather take the credit hit for a few points.Continental Finance Company, LLC

They double your credit limit after 6 on time payments!
Unless they intentionally screw up a payment you schedule, don't tell you until AFTER the payment is due, then charge you a late fee and say "Oh, sorry....you had a late payment."

I had their matrix card for years and they have it under so many names the verve many names the the surge card Missouri bank continental finance And survives credit Union or something and they send you emails from all those places you don't know where they're coming from anyway I called them because I lost my jobs due to covid and I have been trying to work my new job and pay everyone and call them to make payment arrangements at $50 a month and they would not accept it and send it to a collection agency I had the card for years and was never late a 100% paid on time until covid 19 yetContinental Finance Company, LLC

My husband has been with this company for 2 years. He pays for the credit protection every month. We just went thru Hurricane Ivan and we had damages and are having a hard time making the payments. They say we cant request the credit protection to pay our credit card bill. Because it wasn't a disability, loss of life or employment. They don't cover for loss of everything due to a hurricane. I was offered a card with a $750 limit. I have used the card for about 6 months. I pay off my balance each month on all of my cards. I am a real estate agent (rebuilding credit) and when I receive extra funds, I pay off everything. I happened to make two several hundred dollar payments in one month, paying off my balance. The card company PUT MY ACCOUNT ON HOLD! They said that they needed to verify that my bank account belonged to me and needed to do a 3-way call with my bank! SERIOUSLY??? They claimed it seemed fraudulent that I would make several "large" payments in a month! Large? $300 is a large payment??? They know my monthly take-home pay is more than sufficient, and my history of paying my balance every month should not have raised any flags. I feel this policy is an invasion of my rights and privacy and I have NEVER had a credit card company care where the money came from as long as they were PAID every month! The representative said they needed to verify that I was the one making the payments! What??? I could even understand if we were talking about thousands of dollars, but a few $200 - $300 payments??? REALLY? I promptly called and told them to close my account, and that I didn't trust THEM. This sounds like fraud to me on their part. I have cards with much higher limits and make large payments and never once was I questioned or had my account blocked for making too large a payment or too many payments!!! That's absolutely absurd!!! Fortunately, I have done my due diligence and have significantly improved my credit rating at this point and I don't need this kind of treatment from a credit card company because of poor credit. I've been offered an American Express and a VISA with substantial limits. I don't need Surge with their fees and absurd policies.Continental Finance Company, LLC

I have had a Verve credit card from Continental Finance for almost a year now because I am trying to rebuild my credit after my ex husband ruined it. It's been a slow process, but I was raising it. However for some reason this company has been horrible the last few months. They changed their online portal and I hate it. For starters when they did that they erased all my previous statements, and since I go paperless I cannot access them at all. This also erased my time with them which matters if I ever wanted to request a balance increase. Also the way they report to the credit burrow is horrible and not at all consistent. I admit that my balance has been close to the limit a few times, but I have never missed or been late with a payment. Yet it always seems that they report when I'm reaching the limit, but not when I pay it down. That hurts my credit and nullifies my good payment record. Now I noticed that even though I have set the alerts for my card I don't actually get them. Which was made evident when I discovered unauthorized charges on several of my cards because I was hacked. I only looked because another card alerted me of use without card being present which is what Continental Finance is supposed to do. And the people who work for customer service don't seem to know what they're doing, and some are rude. I've been told different things depending who I talk to, and have been disconnected while on hold more than once. It's not very reassuring that these people have part of my financial future in their hands.Continental Finance Company, LLC

I had a negative balance and when I called to have it transfer to my availability credit the representative was very disrespectful and to the point I just wanted to closed my account. I calm down and I just look to see if the sent my negative balance to me and they tried to charge all the money you as payments. I reopened my account while being assured not once but two days in a row my balance would be fixed and my available credit would be restored and they haven’t fix a thing the customer service is horrible and I’ll be closing my account after I’m sure the don’t trust to charge me againContinental Finance Company, LLC
