Today, I received an email stating I had signed up for a Business Select trial, for one month, after which I would be charged $50/year. I did not sign up for this. I then attempted to log into my OfficeDepot account and remove my credit card so they could not charge it, but their system would not allow me to remove the card. I then tried contacting support, via the two Toll Free numbers on their website, as well as via the chatbot application. Both avenues of support said "sorry, technical difficulties" and hung up on me.Business Response

Today I received an email saying "Thank you for signing up for a free trial of Business Select", which I didn't do. Apparently, if they have your email, they register everyone, even though they didn't sign up for this. I'm so frustrated that these companies continue to do things like this because they know they can get away with it. When you call in to report this to them, they have an audix system that kept going in and out with the recording. Then when you finally get to the last recording they say they are having technical difficulties. I believe they sent these to so many people that their system couldn't handle the volume of complaints. I want to be removed from their system for every bit of information they have stored. I no longer trust this company and would never use them again for future purchases.Business Response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Office Depot caused an event, intentional or unintentional, and then blocked calling in to report it. They should learn from this incident and correct internal decisions, if this was intentional, and fix the technical issues if this was unintentional. When the 1st response came, they failed to care for my concerns and I needed to write to them again, resulting in the 2nd email. They lost me as a customer and most likely many others. I will accept that they have now removed my information and unsubscribed me, however even their emails addressing this issue failed to have an unsubscribe link. All of that led me to believe they have leadership issues and I will no longer shop there. This is one more company that will most likely have a breech as it seems they are not paying attention...
Sincerely,

Office Depot sent me an email with the subject "thank you for signing up for a free trial of Business Select". I had not signed up for a free trial of this program. The body of the email message said I'd be charged $49 per year after the 1-month free trial was finished unless I cancelled before it was over. Since I didn't sign up for this program in the first place, I consider this a scam. It's going to cost me my time trying to get this cancelled, and I understand that businesses deliberately make it difficult to cancel these things. Again, let me emphasize, despite what the email said, I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS. I received the email on February 4, ****, at 8:11pm. I hadn't been in an Office Depot for probably roughly a month, and I hadn't ordered anything online for a much longer time, so there's no way this is legitmate.I've also complained to the *** about this under the CAN-SPAM act.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:Office Depot just did something similar again. The sent me two emails saying "Welcome to Office Depot" and "Please click the link below to complete the setup of your profile and to create a password." I did not want or sign up for these accounts. They seem to have been generated automatically because I bought something at walmart.com for which Office Depot was the third party seller.
I didn't notice that Office Depot was the third party seller or I wouldn't have bought the item, because of their previous fraudulent email. I was buying from ******* specifically to avoid shopping at Office Depot. It didn't occur to me that ******* would list products from a competitor on their website, but now I know better. I've reported this to ******* as suspicious activity, and in the future, I'll be very careful when shopping at any website to make sure that the seller isn't Office Depot.
At this point the only resolution that will satisfy me is for Office Depot to delete any accounts that they have for me, and any other information that they have about me in their database, especially my email address, so that no new accounts can be created.. If there are any reward balances, they can keep them.
Sincerely,

Dear BBB
Office Depot Affiliates are third party sites that we partner with to advertise some of our deals and promotions; in turn, we pay them a commission for sales that are generated by customers who link out from their sites.
Potential affiliates should be directed to the bottom of the officedepot.com website to select Affiliate Program under the Programs section. They can learn more about the program and get started by becoming a member of Commission Junction. For customers to obtain the discounts that are advertised on the affiliate site:
customer would need to log in on the affiliate site which they are a member of
select the link/option to Office Depot WWW and then place the order
customer can take advantage of any promo offers listed on the site just as they would if they saw the same offer on WWW. If it's a coupon offer they would apply it like normal, and the normal restrictions would apply
the affiliate is the responsible party that provides cash back, rebates, miles, points, etc. to the customer.Per *************************** request, I've closed her account with ********************** and opted her out of all notification.
Sincerely,?

I was entered into the business select program either automatically or without my consent by the person ******* the register when I checked out Saturday Feb 3, ****. I was not asked about joining the program, there was no prompt for me to opt in to the particular program. It is against consumer laws to enter customers in programs without their consent. I want to be removed and not be charged the fees for the business select program. I want any credit card data removed from their system.Customer Answer

We received the **mail that I have attached as a PDF. Office Depot says we signed up for a free trial of Business Select. We did not sign up for the free trial. The fine print of the **mail says that we will be charged an annual membership fee of $49.00 after one month. I checked the **mail and the Office Depot website. I did not find any way to opt out of this "Business Select" program. We would appreciate it if you have some way to get us out of this "free trial".Customer Answer

I got another E-mail from Office Depot today stating that we are not really enrolled in that program and that we will not be charged a subscription fee. It looks like you may close this issue. Thank you for the help.

I received an email ****, thank you for signing up for a free trial of Business Select. I did not enroll. There is a free trial followed by an annual fee. I used their Live Chat and was disconnected after half an hour. I tried again and got a strange message about a storm closing down their call center on December 5. Since I cannot reach Office Depot, I would like your help resolving this. I did not sign up for Business Select and I want Office Depot to fix this. Today, I received an e-mail from Office Depot / Office Max thanking me for signing up for "Business Select." I signed up for no such plan! It says there is a free month followed by a $49 annual fee to be charged to my credit or debit card. Again, I never joined any such plan, and have not even dealt with this company in over seven months! I have tried to reach the company, but despite claiming on their website that their customer service phone number is available everyday from 8am to 12am, I have been on hold since 8:09pm (it is now 9:18pm).Business Response
