I ordered a 4 pack of printer toner, but when the package was delivered, it only contained 1 toner. The order arrived around November 11, 2024 and I have called Office Depot 5 times now and they just keep saying that they cannot process the refund and need to escalate it to a supervisor and they will reach out to me. They have never reached out to me. Today I called and spent 55 minutes on the phone to get an answer and while they said they were getting a supervisor they then hung up on me. I called back, I spent another 55 minutes on the phone with them as I refused to hang up until my refund was issued. They said that the supervisor was on the phone and would call me back in an hour. I refused to get a call back because they have tried this 4 times with me already and never call back. While I was on the phone, the "supervisor" sent me an email saying that she was in an emergency meeting and could not take my call, but would call me back as soon as possible. So they are clearly lying to me and don't want to issue the refund. They then placed me on a hold and then hung up on me AGAIN. So today I spent two hours on the phone trying to get this refund processed and got hung up on twice. Again, these were the 4th and 5th time I had called and they agreed I should be getting a refund but never process it. They are holding our money for a product that they never sent. I need a resolution for this immediately.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 12/19/2024

Attached is an email from a "Supervisor" at Office Depot saying that they would call me back, which they never did.  This is now the fourth time (3 over the phone, 1 via email) that they said they would call me back in an hour, and never did.  This seems to be part of the training for Office Depot when the can't/won't deal with a customer.  They still owe me a refund of $187.11 that they acknowledge they owe me but never process it.

I have had 10 merchandise credit cards from Office Depot ("OD") since around 2014. I know this because at that time there was a major change in my life. For family reasons, I resigned my job and became a caregiver. The 10 merchandise credit cards total $337.77. On Friday, December 6, 2024, I went to my local OD store located at ******************************* (Store #***) to buy a laptop. I was considering two laptops. After consulting a *** of OD who turned out to be the store manager, I chose a laptop. I told the manager, who was going to ring up my purchase, that I wanted to pay with my OD merchandise credit cards. I gave her the first 3 cards and the system indicated the correct balance. Unfortunately, for the next 3 cards, the manager told me that the system indicated I had a zero balance. I got my cards and came straight home to call the phone number on the back of the cards. The recording stated that all the cards that I entered had a zero balance, including the 3 cards that the store manager told me had the correct balance. I called the store mgr. and she told me that I could call 800-GODEPOT. I called the number and a *** told me that the 3 cards, for which the store manager provided the balance, and the next 3 cards, for which the store manager stated had zero balances, all had the correct balances, which total $156.93. However, for the remaining 4 cards, which total $181.74, the system was saying that they had a zero ***. She stated that she would escalate the case and someone would call me in 24 to 48 hrs. I called on Sunday and no one could help me. I have called numerous times every day this week with no results. A woman who answered one of my calls to the number on back of cards, gave me elaborate lie about her company being fired when Office Max and OD joined. She added that OD gave them number to give us. The # turned out to be the GODEPOT# which I had called many times without results. I was asked to email photos of front&back of ********* did...

Good morning.  I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.  While merchandise and gift cards dont expire, they can become dormant.  I should not have used the term 'deactivated,' and I'm sorry for any misunderstanding.

I looked into this further with the appropriate teams and we have determined that you are due a total of $337.77, which also includes the $21.38 we issued in the form of an e-gift card as of yesterday.  This leaves a remaining balance of $316.39 to be issued to you.  I have requested a $316.39 Office Depot e-gift card be sent to your inbox.  Please allow ***** business hours for it to arrive.

I truly hope this helps and apologize for any trouble this may have caused.  If you have any additional questions regarding this request, please let me know.  I am here to help.

I purchased an Office Max gift card. Today I went to check the balance of the card and when I entered the information at *********************************************************************************************************************** I received an error message "Online balance check can not be performed at this time please call **************". When I called the message said I was eligible for an offer if I was over 50 and if not to press 2. When I pressed 2 I was transferred to what sounds like a live person but is in fact a recording pitching the "free product" and no way to access my gift card balance. I called 4 more times trying different options and they all route to the same place. I also called the number on the back or the card ************** and landed in the exact same place. Absolutely unable to access my gift card balance in some prerecorded horror sales show. I am seeking a full refund and I want to see them remove the automated sale as the only first option to actually provide the necessary information. Terrible, will never purchase again.

      Dear BBB,

I was able to determine the card the customer has is an old OMX card that was issued prior to the merger of Office Depot and Office Max. I apologized and provided the correct contact information for gift card support. I also issued the customer a $25.00 gift card and she will receive via email within ***** hours.

Their executive office reached out to trouble shoot and offered a gift card. My primary concern wasn't the gift card itself, rather the automated system which routed to a sales service instead of the option to check the balance. They have corrected the routing on the automated system which addressed my concerns. Appreciate their prompt response, the gift card and consider the matter resolved.

11/17/24 I purchased a printer from Office Depot They have a 25% bonus rewards for teachers, I supplied my id, but ********************** headquarters claims that the printer does not receive 25% in bonus rewards even though it is not outlined anywhere in their exclusions. Bought a $200 **** gift card that wasn't activated. When calling customer service, *** said to bring it back to store with receipt to reactivated it. Store manager is making excuses to not reactivated and say to stop buying them yet they still have them out for sale. This have happened before and they reactivated the gift card easily but the manager did say "I don't know why we selling these, we don't make any money from them." So staple should start training their employees better or stop selling these gift cards.

Dear Office Depot Customer Service,I am writing to formally request a refund for a misleading transaction involving the Business Select program.Recently, I visited an Office Depot location to purchase furniture, where a salesman encouraged me to sign up for a free 30-day trial of the Business Select program. The in-store signage (which I photographed for reference) and the salesmans explanation clearly indicated that this trial would be free for 30 days. Trusting this information, I signed up.However, just one day after enrolling, my credit card was charged $49. This is unacceptable and feels like a clear case of being misled for the sake of securing a sale. I have already contacted Office Depot regarding this issue. While the Business Select plan and its auto-renewal have been canceled, I have yet to receive a refund for the charge. The details of the transaction are as follows:Business Select Annual Enrollment Item #******* Unit Price: $49.00/each Order #: 398850222-001 I kindly request that my credit card be refunded for this unauthorized charge immediately. If a resolution is not provided promptly, I will be forced to consider pursuing legal action to address this matter.Thank you for your attention to this issue. I hope we can resolve this matter amicably and quickly.Sincerely,****** ******

I called and asked them what they charge to scan a blueprint sized paper and they said 50 cents to a dollar depending on the size. It was standard 2x3 ft blueprint so I figure the maximum it would be would be $1 per page. When I got there, the lady said it would cost $3 per page. I reluctantly agreed, and when it was done, they charged me over $6 per page. In addition they also charged sales tax which is not permitted on services in *******. I told the lady she was making a mistake and she refused to correct it. Looking online, she charged me to full color print rate, which I did not get any prints, only scans. I will never go to office Depot again for anything.

I purchased this laptop on 11/24/24 and the sales *** told me I had 14 days to return the item because that's how it works with electronics. Normally for other things is 30 days. The item has some keyboard issues and I want to return the item. I went back to the store today and the manager name "****** said, I can't help you because you got the item on a clearance". I explained to her the other sales *** told me I had 14 days to return and she still didn't care. I think that was a bad customer service, she dint try to help at all and pretty much just turned me around. I told her I was going to call corporate and she didn't care at all. I would like to get some help because I spent $454.91 on a laptop that is not working properly.
