Now I can't get the title because no one is helping me and no one is help on customer service. I paid the vehicle off and never got a letter or email. I paid a car off and got my title. Apparently they sold it after it was already paid off to another company. They called me while back explain was a mistake they never called me again now I'm getting collection letters? Why are they selling closed account to another lender?? smells like a huge fraud going on.Business Response

Hello I purchased a 2009 buick enclave suv vin: ***************** in 4/2014 from ************** in ********* the finance company was Nicholas Financial I received a congratulations letter and the contract agreement saying that my vehicle was paid off 4/2019 i am trying to get in contact with Nicholas financial to get a lien release i have contacted Westlake multiple times, I am told they do not have my account on file because my vehicle was paid off before they took over I am still not able to get in contact with anyone from Nicholas financial to get my lein releaseBusiness Response

I paid off a car loan for my ********* back in 2022 and the title was mailed to me. I also received verification through my credit report that the loan was paid off. I recently went to sell my car and discovered that Nicholas Financial has a lien out on my car and is refusing to release the lien to me. In the state of ********, a lienholder must release a lien within five business days of the lien being satisfied. It is required once the loan is paid off.Business Response

Nicholas Financial, Inc. stands by its original response. The credit reporting for Nicholas Financial, Inc. is correct. When Nicholas Financial, Inc. transferred her account to ****************************** they reported the account closed with a zero balance with a special comment "O" (Account transferred to another lender). I have attached what Nicholas Financial, Inc. reported. Dates and balances reflect what is showing on the part of her credit report she provided. I am rejecting this response because: The Lien Release should have been sent along with the title back in November of 2022 when the loan was paid off. ******** portfolio is refusing to release the lien to me and there is no reason they should even have it. Missouri law states: Sections *******, *******, and *******, RSMo require the lienholder to release the lien on a separate document within 5 business days after the lien is satisfied. Proper procedure was not followed and the business response is false, I have never made any payments to Westlake Portfolio.

Tried to get a duplicate title only to find Nicholas Financial still had a lien on the vehicle. It is a 2004 GMC Envoy XL. The loan was paid off probably 10 years ago. I see this has been an issue for many other people. Need the title to sell the vehicle.Business Response

Both letters were attached to my original response (she just had to scroll down to get the second letter). Both original letters were mailed to the customer at the address she provided in her complaint. We received return mail due to no mail receptacle. It is not our fault if she is not receiving her mail. She should provide an alternate mailing address to receive her letters. I originally financed a 3500 Chevrolet express van from metrolina auto, which was than transferred to ******* financial - which I FULFILLED my debt obligations since April 12, 2021. I received a title with a lien with metrolina still as the lien holder. Unfortunately the dmv lost it and I now I do not have a title. However, I never received a lien release, which ***** E D. Or the title after it being paid off - which ***** E ************ portfolio keeps saying they will send it - puts me on hold for a long time. Then tells me I should receive it in about 5 - 7 business days. But I have yet to receive anything. I was told this 5 times already. I really need these documents to sell my van. I will absolutely be pursuing legal action if this is not resolved immediately.Business Response
