Dear *************,
Thank you for taking the time to escalate your concern to us so we may investigate and take the appropriate steps to resolve. The National Magazine Exchange has been sponsoring sweepstakes for over thirty years as a way to promote our consumer subscription service offerings. The information mailed to our recipients merely welcomes them to telephone us to enter the sweepstakes. The mailer contains the complete sweepstakes rules, including instructions on how to enter, the date of the drawing, the odds of winning, all eligibility restrictions, and the statements that there is no purchase or payment necessary to enter or to win, and that a purchase would not improve the chances of winning. After completion of the entry our callers are offered discounted magazine services as well as various products to accept, if elected. Our records indicate that you called in to enter our sweepstakes on July 6, 2023. After your entry was completed, you were then offered a magazine package that you subsequently agreed to. After the billing terms were discussed, you provided card information which we initiated a charge for a total of $69.68 which was for the package you had selected. The billing details were captured, and the call proceeded.
Our records further indicate that you called again July 7, 2023,to our *************************** to inquire about a pending charge of $69.68 The details of the previous call and arrangement were discussed, and you agreed to a reduction in cost and package to the total of $34.84 which is what was successfully charged to the account you provided. The charge that you are referring to in the complaint is reflected as pending and was not the actual charge that was posted to your account or ours. If you have further questions about pending transactions or the handling of those charges, please reach out to your financial institution as they handle that on their side. As of now we have cancelled your account, issued a refund of $34.84, and added you to our internal Do Not Contact database. I am rejecting this response because: I am not going to communicate with an agency that I have previously not done so. There are many complaints about National Publishers Exchange and interestingly they always provide the same canned response. Forbes magazine sent me to this company. They can contact **************, *** and resolve this. I have been getting harassment from a collection agency in ******* not *******. I have already filed a complaint with the ******* ************************ regarding this company and the collection agency, and will if not resolved file with the ******* ************************ as well. In addition the Phoenix metro area is huge and am sure local television stations will jump on a story about a companys targeting of senior citizens with national implications as well. I am not *********************** and my address was used illegally to send this magazine. The choice is yours to fix or await further potential legal action.

Issues of Sports Illustrated magazine began showing up within the past few months using my name at my employers address. I did not authorize this magazine subscription and do not know how it became associated with my employer. I do not know who is being charged for the subscription and when I contacted Sports Illustrated for a cancellation, they indicated that they could not cancel the account due to it being issued by a third party, NME.This is fraudulent and the account needs to be cancelled. Auto-renew features on this account need to be cancelled as well to protect future activity. Charges incurred for this unauthorized subscription should be refunded.Attached image shows Acct# and shipping information from the magazine shipping label.Business Response

Sent magazines to both my personal and work address. All magazine subscription departments refused to cancel the subscription, that only this 3rd party who created them could. Called this third party, spoke to "****" who was very rude and hung up on me. Tried to tell me my electric and water company were likely who "sold" my information and that " you get advertising all the time, it doesn't matter how we go your info" and refused to tell me how they gained both my work and personal addresses.Business Response
