I do not have any recollection to purchasing any magazines. I've tried to contact someone to have the magazines stopped & had no success. Then yesterday 02/27/2023 & today 02/28/2023 I was contacted by a collection agency, Monarchy something, not sure the exact name, saying I owed over $200. I am elderly & on a fixed income & can't not/do not afford ANYTHING like this. I don't think I was ever charged but I may have over looked it considering I have had multiple unauthorized transactions thru my bank account causing myself to cancel my account & get a new one. I would PLEASE like this issue to be resolved & to not be contacted anymore afterwards. I get many *********** not sure what is it isn't scammers ANYMORE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH

      Dear ***************,

The National Magazine Exchange has been sponsoring sweepstakes for over thirty years as a way to promote our consumer subscription service offerings.  The information mailed to our recipients merely welcomes them to telephone us to enter the sweepstakes.  The mailer contains the complete sweepstakes rules, including instructions on how to enter, the date of the drawing, the odds of winning, all eligibility restrictions, and the statements that there is no purchase or payment necessary to enter or to win,and that a purchase would not improve the chances of winning. After completion of the entry our callers are offered discounted magazine services as well as various products to accept, if elected.
After reviewing the contacts and account associated with your information we have concluded the following. On December 3, 2022, you called in to enter our sweepstakes, and were subsequently offered magazines which you elected to receive. After selecting the magazine titles you preferred to receive the billing details were discussed and agreed to, and the transaction was concluded. As of now we cancelled your account and added you into our Do Not Contact database to prevent further correspondence.

I paid them $77.00 in December and have only received 3 magazines to date, which I never read. I called to cancel my subscription, which they would not allow without paying another $77.00, which I did not seeing any choice except damaging my credit.

I received a letter in the mail telling me I am entered I an official sweepstakes with NATIONAL MAGAZINE EXCHANGE , I never applied or talked with anyone related to this business and I find it very wrong for them to assign me a winning number if picked in Sept ****. I feel this is a set up/trap by getting me to call the ************** phone number that by doing so it will lock me into some kind of binding one sided contract only agreed and made up by NATIONAL MAGAZINE EXCHANGE or another third party that they have set up this scam to trap consumers into joining a magazine subscription ring that THE CONSUMER was not ever informed, did not have any clue in knowing. By the letter I received in the mail, all its telling me that I have to do is 3 steps: 3-STEPS:1- Call **************. 2- PROVIDE ID # assigned for when drawing occurs on: SEPT. 09, **** at approx. 1 p.m. eastern time.3-Comfirm my Address I find it very strange that they never confirmed my address (which they already have some how) but they never confirmed my address when they were assigning these possible winning serial number out , my number assigned to my name is #******** But now they decided that they need to verify my name and address , this is a tactic so they can properly send unauthorized billing statements to Consumers who never talked with or knew about getting themselves into a hidden contract by or with the Business in relation to National MAGAZINE EXCHANGE.I feel by doing this to the consumer up to now that this business should lose all rights they have to put on OFFICIAL PRIZE COMMUNICATION DRAWINGS, that they should never be able to get addresses freely like they are doing and with trickery and not being 100% TRANSPARENT in explaining truely why they have sent letters out to consumers without consumers having any prior acknowledgement of who, what, when, why, and how this Business can even think this is a fair business exchange contract.

I was signed up for your magazine via 3rd party and want to cancel my subscription. This is a scam. I was charged $69.68 on 01/03/2023 and after looking into this it seems this is happening to others also. I would like this subscription cancelled as soon as possible.

      Dear ***********,

Thank you for taking the time to escalate your concern so we may investigate and take the appropriate course of action to resolve. Our records show that on December 28, 2022 you called in to enter our sweepstakes. After the entry was completed there was a magazine package offered to which you agreed to. While auditing the contacts for your subscription we observed that the Representative you spoke with submitted your agreed upon package and pricing incorrectly causing you to be charged more than what was agreed to. Due to this we have cancelled your magazine order. Upon attempting to issue a credit for the initial charge but then realized the charge was returned from your financial institution. 12/29 I received a "** Magazine" in the mail, I had never ordered the magazine let alone read a ** magazine. I had called the ** customer service and they had informed me that I could not cancel the subscription through them and that a "third party publisher" had been the one who put the subscription together. I was given a phone number for the "National Publishers Exchange" ***************) to cancel the subscription.I called the *** and spoke with a employee named "El" (Employee ID: ****** and asked for my name and zip code. She was able to identify where I lived. I asked to have the magazine subscription cancelled, she informed me that "I have cancelled the subscription". She was unable to provide me a confirmation code, told me that I could not cancel the "*** membership" and would have to speak to another person at "Western Readers Service" ***************) and got a voice mail requesting a "call back number". I left a message and have not heard back. Ultimately I would like to have all of this removed/cancelled because I do not have any interest in this charade. This feels predatory towards people my putting together magazine subscriptions without the consent of the person they are filling the subscription for.I appreciate your time and allowing for me to air my grievance.

From National magazine Exchange it had a number on there to call said no purchase necessary to enter their sweepstakes I call I give them the number that's on the letter that came.So the lady on the other end of the phone is trying to get me to buy magazine subscriptions I told her I don't want magazine subscriptions she said well we have to go through the process so just pick some so I think I picked like six of them and then there was a little more discussion and we said our goodbyes. 2 months later I receive a phone call from a collections agency trying to collect $288 some odd dollars from me for the magazines magazines I never received anyway. Yes I received no magazines so I don't feel they have the right to send me to a collections agency to try to collect money that I never received anything for and also for it said no purchase necessary so I've received no magazines they've received no money I don't want no magazines and I'm not paying them because it's it's a fraud thank you ***********************

BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
