So, I contacted them again and requested my application be withdrawn and that I get a confirmation stating that it had been withdrawn but it hasnt happened. I have been attending Ultimate Medical Academy since August of 2022 and it had been some shady stuff going on with my financial aid. First they didnt get the pell grant from the department of Education which was very shady at first because I have had attended other colleges in the past and my pell grants has always posted no matter what, I never have til this day recieved my pell grants from this school. Every time I would talk to the financial aid department he would get an attitude and sound all smart on the other end of the phone. Which was also a red flag so I went online and found out I am not the only one saying this school is a scam. I am out of 10k and I am planning a trip down there to talk to someone because yall are scamming a lot of people and one day they will scam the wrong one. I will not reccomend this school to anyone please run if you are facing similar problems please contact me maybe we can do something and team up and put a stop to this.Business Response

Dear Ms. M****,
Ultimate Medical Academy (“UMA”) received your concerns from
the Better Business Bureau (“BBB”) on 1/18/23 about a Pell
grant. We take all issues very seriously and appreciate the
opportunity to respond.
We apologize for any interaction with UMA staff you felt was less
than positive. On 1/12/23, a member of the UMA Student
Finance team had a phone conversation with you where he advised that you are
eligible for, and have been awarded, the full amount of the Pell grant for
2022/2023. However, the funds have not posted to your student account because
you must be in attendance to be eligible to receive these funds. Because you
have not attended school since 12/22/2022, these funds have not been disbursed.
On 1/24/23, a Student Finance manager called you to discuss the situation with
your Pell grant. During the call you expressed understanding and advised that
you had initiated a voluntary withdrawal and wished to remain in such status.
We have reviewed your file and there is no indication of out-of-the-ordinary
support or interactions regarding your experience with UMA Student Finance in
August 2022. We did request a Default Clearance Letter (DCL) for you to be
eligible for financial aid in August 2022. However, around this time, we also
received guidance regarding an initiative called “Fresh Start” which allowed
students who were previously defaulted on student loans, prior to the pandemic
repayment pause, to be eligible for financial aid without obtaining a DCL.
If you have any questions regarding this initiative or would like to speak with
our team about your experience in more detail, we would be happy to assist.
Please reach out to our Student Affairs team at
[email protected].
Sincerely,

Dear Ms.
M****,
UMA
apologizes for the continued misunderstanding. When a UMA Student Finance
manager spoke with you on the phone on 1/24/23 about the Pell grant and your
student account, you expressed understanding of the situation and the actions
you needed to take to be eligible for the Pell Grant. At that time, you advised
that you were not continuing with UMA and had initiated a voluntary withdrawal.
As previously stated, to be eligible for the Pell Grant funds, you needed to be
in attendance at UMA and the funds would have been applied to your student
account.
Sincerely,

Last month, I inquired about a program they offer. they enrolled me even after I told them I'd have to look at my finance options. I talked it over and decided now is not the right time for me. I've asked multiple times to be un enrolled. they keep calling from different numbers, and even sent me a package. they will not take no for an answer and I don't know what to do anymore. they are terrible and I wish I never inquired.Business Response

I was researching potential course options online for expanding my knowledge in medical billing and coding and was immediately contacted by a representative who pushed me through the enrollment process. All I wanted was additional information and next thing I know, I'm apparently enrolled for classes. The "fine print" on the application states you can withdraw your enrollment request within 72 hours by contacting ****************************************************************************** which I have now done at least five times, to no avail. I have also requested confirmation of my unenrollment by replying to every single email they continuously send to me regarding the start of classes and financial aid. I have replied to *******************************-Manager of ******************* *************************** (no title), as well as FIVE emails to ******************************************************************************. All I want is for someone to confirm my unenrollment and any corresponding financial burden. It would also be appreciated if the harassment by phone, text and email would cease (as also requested in every email that has been sent.)Business Response

I applied for a stipend or voluntary loan increase over 2 months ago and I was told around Sept 15th I would be seeing something related to the increase I asked for. Also I checked my great lakes account and it shows that the school did indeed receive the money for the full amount of my whole tuition which I have attached a screenshot not only that I was told I owed **** more dollars on my account, how when they have already received all the money from student loans. I will be hiring a lawyer to look into and possibly suing for negligence and shady practices that are illegal. I've called several times regarding this and no one can give a straight answer and then they stated that they were waiting on a Pell ***** as if I don't have access to same information that they do on what money has been recieved from student loans. This is so ridiculous I shouldn't have to fight over something that I am legally able to receive and I do not trust the financial aid department I already have spoken to a lawyer and it's been determined that I have a case.Business Response
