Faulty Service Damaged iPhone Seeking Refund from iFixandRepair

      Customer Answer

      Date: 05/08/2025

Here are additional details about this report:

We had a very poor experience with iFixandRepair at ****************
On April 6, we brought an iPhone to their kiosk for a screen replacement. The technician repeatedly told us it would be "20 more minutes," but after 2.5 hours, the phone was still not repaired. We went to the manager at their store inside the mall. The manager retrieved the phone from the kiosk himself and admitted that the technician did not know what he was doing. The manager then replaced the screen himself.
When it came time to pay, they attempted to add an additional $399 charge for a "cracked back" even though the back was not cracked. We disputed the charge, and it was ultimately removed. Despite this, the manager still asked us for a tip, which we declined.
On April 7, the very next day, the phones camera and power/volume buttons were not working properly. We returned to the store, and they attempted another repair. However, the issues continued, and over the following weeks, the screens responsiveness worsened.
On May 5, the screen completely stopped responding to touch. We took the phone to the ***********, where technicians confirmed that the previous repair had been improperly performed and had caused significant damage. As a result, we were forced to spend hundreds of dollars to replace the phone.
Based on this experience, we believe iFixandRepair demonstrated poor workmanship, deceptive billing practices, and unprofessional customer service. We would not recommend this business.

      Business Response

      Date: 05/12/2025

      Hello BBB Team.

We sincerely regret that the customer had a disappointing experience at our *************** location. We appreciate them taking the time to share their concerns, and we would like to provide additional context from our side.

According to the information provided by the store staff, the customer initially requested a screen replacement for $299 and also agreed to a back glass replacement for $199. As a goodwill gesture, the team offered to perform both repairs for a total of $400, applying a significant discount.

The customer returned the following day, reporting performance issues with the device. Upon further inspection, the technician identified clear signs of internal liquid damage and explained that this could be the underlying cause of the ongoing problems. However, we understand the customer did not agree with this assessment.

It is important to clarify that our technicians cannot be held responsible for pre-existing or unrelated internal damage not directly associated with the components that were replaced. Despite this, our team still attempted to offer additional support during the second visit at no extra charge.

We deeply regret the inconvenience caused and will take internal steps to strengthen our customer service protocols. Our goal is always to provide professional, transparent, and high-quality service.

      Complaint: 23303453

I am rejecting this response because:

I strongly reject the response from iFixandRepair. Their reply contains several falsehoods and misrepresentations that I cannot allow to go unchallenged.

      1. No Agreement for Back Glass Repair: At no point did I agree to a back glass replacement or to a $400 total repair cost. My service request was solely for a screen replacement, quoted at $299. The claim that I authorized a $199 back glass repairdiscounted or otherwiseis categorically false and completely fabricated.

      2. Technician Error Admitted by Store Manager on the Same Day: After the kiosk technician took over two hours with the repair, we went into the main store to ask the manager to retrieve the phone from him. At that point, the store manager explicitly stated that the technician didnt know what he was doing. This was a clear admission of incompetence and an acknowledgment that the technician had mishandled the repair from the outset.

      3. No Mention of Liquid Damage: When we returned the following day due to performance issues, there was absolutely no mention of internal liquid damage. If the device had shown clear signs of such damage, this would have been stated immediately. Instead, the conversation focused on the technicians poor work. The later claim of liquid damage appears to be a fabricated excuse introduced only after I filed the complaint, in an effort to deflect responsibility.

iFixandRepairs response is misleading, inaccurate, and an apparent attempt to shift blame rather than take accountability. I am requesting that the BBB keep this complaint open and that iFixandRepair be held accountable for both the poor service and the false claims made in their response.

      Sincerely,

      **** ******

      Complaint: 23303453

I am rejecting this response because:
The businesss response is false. I have not been contacted directly by iFixandRepair to make arrangements to resolve this issue.

Someone claiming to be from the *************** did call me last week but did not identify themselves as being from iFixandRepair, did not mention this complaint, and did not offer any resolution. Given the lack of transparency, I ended the call, as I do not accept verbal communication that is not properly documented or verifiable.
The phone in question was already replaced at the Apple Store because it was rendered completely inoperable after iFixandRepairs repair attempt. Multiple professionals confirmed that the damage was irreversible and directly caused by their work.
I am requesting a full refund for the original repair service that damaged my phone. To date, no legitimate written communication or resolution has been provided by the business.
How many rounds of this do I need to go through before the business is honest and takes responsibility for the damage they caused? I am asking for a fair and factual resolution. I expect a written response and a full refund.

      Sincerely,

      **** ******

The business has now reached out to me via personal email and by phone. I want to make it clear that I will only accept written communication via the BBB in order to maintain a documented, third-party record of this issue.

In their email, iFixandRepair apologized and vaguely acknowledged that mistakes may have been made but offered no clear accountability. They referenced possible partial refunds or re-evaluation, despite the fact that the damage has already been professionally assessed and the phone was determined to be irreparable due to their repair attempt. I have since had to replace the phone at the Apple Store at my own expense.
I am requesting a full refund for the cost of the original repair that rendered the phone inoperable.

It is clear this business is attempting to resolve the matter privately to avoid a public record. I will only continue communication through the BBB and expect a timely and fair resolution.

The following is a copy of the email ifixitandrepair has sent to me today:
      Dear **** ******,

Thank you for your detailed feedback. We sincerely regret that your recent experience with iFixandRepair did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate the opportunity to respond to your concerns.

Regarding the back glass repair, we understand your position. While our records indicate that additional services were discussed as part of the repair process, we respect your statement that no such authorization was given. We apologize for any misunderstanding or lack of clarity in communication at the time of service.

We take full responsibility for the technicians conduct and performance. If any of our team members made comments that undermined your confidence in the repair or appeared unprofessional, we sincerely apologize. We strive to maintain high service standards, and it is clear that in this instance, your expectations were not met.

The mention of internal liquid damage was based on follow-up diagnostics, but we recognize your concern that this was not brought to your attention during your return visit. Clear, timely communication is critical, and we regret if there was any delay or inconsistency in how this information was presented.

We understand your frustration and do not take your complaint lightly. Our goal is always to ensure our customers leave with a fully functional device and a positive experience. In the interest of resolving this matter fairly, we are willing to further review the repair history and explore a possible resolution, which may include a partial refund, re-evaluation, or alternative service.

Please contact us directly at **************, and we will ensure this matter receives prompt attention.

Thank you for your continued support with this matter.
Once again, I will not be communicating by phone or in person. I have already made multiple attempts to resolve this issue directly with the store, and those interactions were marked by unprofessional behavior and conflicting explanations. I do not trust further verbal communication, and I will only accept written correspondence via the BBB.

The store and now a corporate office (CRX) have both reached out but neither has taken responsibility, nor have they offered any concrete solution. I am still waiting for a full refund for the repair that left my phone unusable. I ultimately had to replace the phone at the *********** due to the damage caused by iFixandRepair.

Repeatedly asking me to call or visit the store is not a resolution. I will continue to pursue this through the BBB, which has been professional, responsive, and fair.

Thank you for helping facilitate communication on this issue.

I am rejecting this response because:

For the second time, I am attaching the receipt for the repair. I have already submitted this through the BBB platform, and I am resubmitting it now to avoid any further delays or excuses.
As I have stated repeatedly, I will not be visiting the store. My prior experiences with iFixandRepair including inconsistent information, lack of accountability, and unprofessional conduct have left me with no trust in the business.
All communication must remain in writing through the BBB. This is the only way I can ensure a clear and accurate record of what has occurred.
I am still awaiting a full refund for a repair that left my phone unusable and ultimately forced me to replace the device. I expect a resolution through this platform.

I had my iPhone 15 screen replaced on 2/2/25. Before the replacement, the phone worked perfectly fine, though the screen was cracked. A few days later, the screen stopped working. When I took it to be fixed under warranty, they claimed I had "broken the screen," even though it was a micro crack, and charged me an extra $117, bringing the total to $262.15 for a new one.A few days later, the screen failed again. I returned to the same technician, who had originally repaired my phone and was skilled in fixing iPhones, and they suggested a broken proximity sensor and agreed to replace it for free. During this visit, I learned that the technician who had repaired my phone the second time lacked expertise with ***** products. It seems likely that the Android technician caused the original screen damage and overcharged me.After replacing the proximity sensor, the phone broke again within a week. The original technician now claimed the motherboard was likely damaged, but they couldnt repair it and the warranty didnt cover it. It seems an unskilled technician caused the motherboard issue as well. My request for a full refund was denied. The only reasonable course of action is a full reimbursement for a new phone, because I was overcharged for and it was broken by the business.I strongly recommend avoiding this repair shop.

I had my Iphone 15 screen replaced on 11/12/24, today the screen stopped working so i took it in and they told me there was nothing they could do even though the receipt says there is a 30 day warranty. What is the point of giving a warranty if you are not going to honor it. So now im out $300. This is not how to do business. Oh yeah they called the cops on me and the cop said I fix and repair does this kind of stuff all the time and there is nothing they can do as its a civil matter. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all cost.

I am rejecting this response because while he refunded me $150, half of what I paid for the screen replacement, the refund should have been for the full amount which the owner refused.  I was under warranty and this business did not honor or stand behind their services and/or products.  The owner runs a shady business, just look at the multiple reviews of his business practices.  He consistently take advantage of his customers.  You don't get an F rating by being a reputable business.  I would never go back there or recommend to anyone. When you treat customers like this you will not be in business for a very long time.

I am rejecting this response because: They are liars, completely false statement.  There was no visible damage to the phone anywhere, even the employee and officer that they called to the store on me said that there was no visible damage.  It is clear that they did not want to honor the warranty and made up false claims so they would not have to.  They run a shady business and take advantage of their customers.  They should have done the right thing and offered to replace the faulty screen or gave me a full refund.  Their only option was for me to pay another $150 to replace the screen after I already paid $300.  I don't think a reputable store would have tried to get more money out of their customer to fix their mistake.

      Sincerely,

      Dear Customer

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention, and we apologize for any inconvenience youve experienced. I would like to clarify a few points regarding your situation.

Firstly, I want to acknowledge that we did perform the initial repair on your device and, upon noticing issues with the phone after the repair, you brought the device back to us. After diagnosing the problem, we determined that the logic board was the cause of the malfunction, an issue that had likely occurred after the initial repair and while the phone was in your possession. We offered to resolve this by fixing the logic board for free of charge, which would have taken some time, but we understand that you preferred not to wait and decided to purchase a new device instead.

Although our policy does not allow refunds for installed screens, we made an exception in your case as a gesture of goodwill and authorized a refund for the screen replacement. However, I would like to clarify that while we initiated the refund through our merchant services provider, the processing of the refund is sometimes beyond our control and can be subject to delays due to various factors, such as the banks or the payment processor involved. Please be assured that we did everything on our end to expedite the process.

If the refund has still not reflected in your account, I kindly suggest following up with your bank to ensure there are no further delays from their side. We understand how frustrating this experience must have been and want to assure you that customer satisfaction is our priority.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or require additional assistance. We value your business and hope to have the opportunity to serve you again in the future.

      Thank you for your understanding.

      Best regards,

I took my phone in on May 15 to replace my battery because I thought it was not keeping a charge long enough. I paid IFix $147 to do this. Bad decision.I picked up the phone later and it was working. About 5 hours later, the screen was not working properly. By the next day, the screen was completely dark. I brought it back and they were defensive right away. Told me I dropped it or got it wet. Both FALSE. They reopened it and could not fix it. (BTW, they don't just pop in a new battery like I thought, there is a' lot involved.) I obviously asked for a refund or even just a partial refund. Nope! I just spoke with the manager today and he would not help one iota either. So, I had to purchase a new phone at **** and all in I had to spend $500. BTW, **** has heard these stories before. DO NOT try to replace your battery with these repair shops.

Dear BBB community, we provided further assistance to this customer, one of our technicians inspected his cell phone again and discovered that the problem is not related to the battery repair, but rather a faulty screen. However, the battery itself is still functional and capable of holding a charge.Thank you.

May 12, 2024: I purchased a phone case from the *****************************, Virginia IFIX AND REPAIR establishment. At no time did the salesperson inform me of the No Refund policy and there is absolutely nothing posted in the store about the stores refund policy. The case makes my iPhone 14 EXTREMELY hot and dangerous to touch when placed on my cars wireless charger. I stopped in to speak to the salesperson on May 16 and was given a phone number to call. I called the number and the voicemail mailbox was full. I sent an email to the address given to me and have gotten no response. All I want is a refund on the defective phone case. Thank you

I took ****** Pixel 7a for a broken screen repair on 03/30 at *********** ********* iFixandRepair. They kept my phone for 4 days as they didn't have the part on hand & charged me $200.25. The phone bezels had noticeable dents when I got the phone back. Biometric unlock touch didn't work either. And then 2 days later the screen started to flicker and then stopped working in. I went back to the store to ask them to repair as it was under the 1 month repair warranty. Likim at the store refused to fix the screen and claimed that the screen was damaged after the repair was done. There is no damage on the screen what so ever, I have attached pics for support. I asked for a manager to but he refused to help or give me the managers contact information. I had to pay again to have the screen fixed with ****** recommended vendor. I am asking iFixandRepair to give me a full refund for the money that they have charged me.

On September 16 I purchased a replacement screen for my ****** Pixel 7 for $246.10. The owner sold me the screen and told me they would contact me to install within a few days. I was contacted a few days later and visited the store on September 21 for the replacement. The screen was replaced with a screen that does not work as I am unable to use my fingerprint. I contacted the owner on September 21 and he told me that it was a known issue. I requested my money back and he told me no, he would be in touch when he found a resolution. He stopped returning my calls or texts on September 22.

      Customer Answer

They have NOT attempted to contact me. They NEVER offered a partial refund or any refund at all. They NEVER informed me beforehand of this known issue as I would not have proceeded to pay to replace the screen with something that did not work. I do not accept their response and an looking for a full refund from this business.

I am rejecting this response because:

The company has not returned my calls or texts since September 22. They have not called me out attempted to text me at all. They NEVER told me this was a known issue as I would not have proceeded because I need the finger print for work apps on my phone. They have never offered any kind of partial refund at all. The business owner is a liar and I am asking for a full refund at this time.

      Sincerely,

Date of transaction: June 8th, 2023 Amount paid: $86.00 I wanted to reach out regarding an order I placed at the ************************************************************ iFixandRepair store at the *******, ******* mall. I got my phone fixed here on June 8th, 2023 and very soon after my brand new screen started having problems. The screen will do things by itself, it freezes a lot, it doesnt let me type or press on the screen majority of the time and much more. I know its not the phone itself because this is a brand new phone and was working 100% perfectly before I went here. I just needed a tiny crack fixed. As a result, I ended up contacting the *******, ******* store and they told me to come in but I dont live in *******. l was only visiting so Im unable to do so. So because I cant come into the actual store, I was told there is nothing that can be done even though the problems Im having are 100% their fault. I understand not being able to help me when Im states away but to not offer any support whatsoever, such as a refund, seems unreasonable. I just wanted to see if I would be able to be reimbursed for the money I paid since the screen is obviously faulty and giving me difficulties so soon after I got it fixed. This business promises to provide good quality screen repairs and I was not given that. I have reached out to the customer service team to file a complaint but no one has gotten back to me which led me to put in a dispute with BBB. Thank you in advance for any help youll provide and please have a wonderful day.

We reached out to customer to issue a refund and customer already disputed the transaction with her Bank and we agreed not to provide documentation to the bank and accepted the dispute. With that being said, the refund was issued.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 07/31/2023

Hi I would just like to point out that is is entirely false. Not once did I tell this company that I disputed the transaction to my bank nor did they issue a refund. I talked to them one time, this being whenever they told me there was nothing they could do. In result of this thats when I emailed my complaint and did not get a response (I provided documentation of that at the beginning) and then I filed with BBB. This company did not reach out to me to provide a refund.

This message from the company is entirely false. Not once was this business told by me that I filed a complaint to my bank and not once was a refund issued. I reached out to this company and this was when they told me there was nothing that they could do. As a result of this I filed a complaint that I did not get an answer to which made me file with BBB. I can provide documentation of my bank statements where there is no reimbursement from this company.
