I loved the Friday sessions, and I had the feeling during the sessions that Isaiah was saying things that I really wanted to hear about myself. Like he understood me and other PhDs and knew what to say to inspire us and to show us what we needed to do to remember our value and to get hired into a good role. The program helped me get into a role where I work less overall and am compensated much better so I'm not anxious at home anymore but am very happy.

They call me, set up a meeting saying its just a meeting with no payment required. Then pressured me to immediately give 4K USD, else it is gonna charge me more. They did not tell me before that there is no refund. And the moment I added my credit information and its been processed, I changed my mind (as thing looked suspicious), I asked for money back as I will not use their services. They fully refusing to give me my money back.

Cheeky scientist is a bi scam! Stay away of it! The way that they convince you to join them like they will take 90% responsibility and after they catch you no one even doesn't answer your question.

They pressured me to enroll for their course by simply lying to me that if I do not enroll on the zoom call then they will not be able to give me an offer and I have to pay $10000. What kind of offer vanishes right after a call? Or in 30 minutes. I have not used their services and told them in 5 hours that I am not going to use their product and they are not giving my money back.

What helped the most is understanding my transferable skills, knowing how to talk about them, and learning to appreciate them as sought after skills while honoring my PhD (rather than thinking of it as an obstacle). I have their phrase: “remember your value as a PhD” written down in my office to keep my value at the forefront of my mind. All the knowledge they provide about navigating LinkedIn and job postings is also incredibly valuable. I did find everything they say about networking to be true and valuable!

They helped me a lot. The mock interview, the resume editing from the beginning, the mindset of qualifiable results, the network of fellow members, and the diamond weekly meetings. The whole program was integral to my success.

What helped me is sticking to few different companies, attending their career development programs, webinars and talking to the recruiters. That helped me get visibility and my resume was passed to the hiring manager. I had just two interviews in same day and got the offer letter within 3 days.

Considering the current job market I was prepared to be searching for jobs atleast 3-6 months after graduation. I even had back up plans set up to continue working for my PI while I looked for jobs. The cheeky method is so effective that I received the job offer in December and finalized on the details in January… but I only graduate in May! In my wildest dreams I hadn’t ever thought I would get a job *before* graduation. The resume templates are also extremely helpful. The modules are very eye opening and prepare people for interviews, immigration challenges, etc. but overall, it’s the community that’s the best.

I write this review as someone with a humanities PhD looking to move into corporate or consulting in a communications role; so I cannot speak to how Cheeky Scientist works with people with science/technical doctorates. But I have found this program to be utterly unhelpful, to the point that while I am still paying off my exorbitantly high subscription loan with them I am not utilizing their services.
      1. The sales call is very high-pressure. As someone with background in communication ethics, I would describe it as manipulative.
      2. The network they connect you with is almost entirely other PhD's currently in their program. When I asked about folks in consulting roles, I was told they had few if any at the big consulting firms.
      3. My assigned mentor in the program took a look at my resume and LinkedIn profile and offered revisions that amounted to a word salad of keywords strung together. For someone looking to go into communications, this makes no sense to me. She also had a lot of other members to work with, an I felt had little time to spend on my side of things.
      4. After a few weeks of meeting with the mentor, you're more or less cast on your own to continue the networking process.
      5. The weekly group meetings are largely the CEO sharing his tips that you can get through his book.
In summary, while it may work for science and technical PhD's, I don't think they have any real idea how to work with humanities. I find them manipulative and definitely not worth the money I'm still paying to them.

I thought that getting a job had to do with submitting your experience into a portal, and someone would take the time to read it and give you a call for ONE interview. The thing that surprised me most is that there is no human, and much of the job search process is automated through AI. I also had no idea so much of the job search is actually searching for others who do the same thing - ie networking. In fact, that's exactly how I landed this position - someone introduced me to someone else and they happened to be hiring. Lastly, the job interview process is grueling, I went through FIVE different stages, not including a presentation. It was however - ALL worth it with Cheeky Scientists' help!
Their systematic approach to resume building and mock interviews helped me the most. Because a lot of the material is recorded, I could pause and take notes and practice at my own pace, then come back with a renewed sense of understanding for how to intelligently answer any interview question. Each person that coached me on the Cheeky Team seemed genuinely interested in my success, and I felt incredibly supported at each stage of the job search and interview process. Thank you again :)
