Snake oil salesmen who do not deliver on promises. Said I would be mentored one on one, but it was 1. group meetings where our resumes and personal information were shared with everyone and 2. generic and, from the lack of job responses I have received, bad resume advice. They additionally promised that I would be able to receive quick and efficient help after the mentorship portion was concluded but when I needed help with a resume for an exciting job position, I was not supported to what I had been promised and again, received generic advice. Admittedly, I was naive for seeking their help, having been urged by a former mentor to use their services. The services cost over $4000 dollars and you receive nothing of value. They use high pressure sales tactics, which when you are already nervous about your impeding job prospects, place you in a vulnerable position to agree to their terms. Avoid at all costs, you are better off asking a random person on the subway for advice than Cheeky Scientist. Ultimately, they are con artists who, instead of just providing the kind of quality services their price tag should necessitate, use their intellect to scam you out of your very little PhD stipend money.

What I found most helpful with the program was reformatting my CV into a resume and the interviewing tips. I watched hours upon hours of the recorded mock interviews and would practice answering the questions myself. I recorded myself and would watch myself for any nervous ticks or too many "ums", etc. I would practice answering the questions during my commute to/from work! It helped me come up with a standardized answer for several overlapping questions. In my last interview, I really felt prepared.

Cheeky Scientist is a societal bug who hunts young PhDs for money in the name of transition to industry selling their garbage resume materials, courses, and classes. Every one needs to be aware of it.

The aspect of the program that helped the most was the alumni network. One of my colleagues had made it through the program I think back in 2017 and we talked on the phone about it. She put me in touch with the medical device company (actuated medical) that ultimately made the offer.

What helped me the most about this program was the support when it came to redoing my LinkedIn page, writing my first resume and preparing for interviews. Being able to post on the Cheeky page and receive such prompt and detailed feedback and guidance from the team was super helpful. It really made me feel like I had a group of people on my side who really cared about me achieving my goal. Even though I didn't have a chance to attend many mock interviews, the one I did go to was awesome, and even just reading through the email invite with the question for each session and having to think about it was beneficial.

Cheeky Scientist rushes you into signing a contract and an accompanying loan. The promise is to help those with PhD degrees land an industry job. There is a lot of fine print that most people don’t pay attention to. The service provided is not worth the amount charged. I am trying to get my money back. We will see if I need to take any legal action.

Things are going great for me in my job. I reached to that level because I am a member of CSA. Joining was a paradigm shift for me.
Feeling lucky that I joined and was able to transition to industry. Otherwise, I would still be in the academic dead end life exhausting path.

      Hello Kamrul,
Congratulations on your successful transition! We appreciate your kind words and look forward to seeing what you do next in industry. Happy to see you off the “exhausting” academic treadmill.

Pushy sales tactics, delivered to desperate PhD's. Good resume feedback, but you could do similarly well by Googling "ATS format". Has some decently helpful videos, but the presentation of information is all over the place. Lots of automated emails every day, and it's hard to sift through what's important and what's just more advertising. Given the cost, I'd say Google "ATS resume help", "LinkedIn optimization for PhDs", "how to arrange informational interviews" or something like that, and save yourself the money. Pretty hard pass.

If there is any negative star, I would give them those. CheekyScientist are the worst thing ever happened in my life. They are not helping people but running their business for the money only..They make a such a trap that new innocent people end up getting sing their agreement. They can hypothesize people and they do have that quality for the sake of money. I was kind of rushing to get job because I have to run family with kids and I got trapped by them. I fill my information thinking that they can provide some information since I didn’t know anything about them before that day. I accepted their video call but within an hour I was just doing whatever they said and ended up buying their unethical agreement unknowingly. They didn’t allow me to read the contract and didn’t even mention they are taking loan of $$$$ dollars under my name from ******. I was fully hypothesized. Right after conversation,I realized and called them for cancellation, one of the cheekyscientist told me it’s okay to cancel but just email Rayanne. I emailed her several times and got response back after a week. She didn’t even listen to my request but only forcing me to take their class.I never take their classes, not even used any services but they made me to pay thousands of money. In USA any purchase or services has trial & cancellation period but their agreement bullshit. Only a trap, their target is money not a good service.within a few hours my life went into nightmare. Worst day of my life, things got worse.I contacted ****** about it but they just blame each other. I am just paying for nothing. I am not type of person who works without thinking but cheeky scientist hypnotized me that time and I did whatever they make me to do. This is so much pain and I know I am not only one victim. I really want to see their business to be banned and no one go through the same situation that I have been through. I also really want to see ****** hear these comments and do not work with CheekyScientist.

This is the biggest scam I have ever encountered. Their marketing and recruiting are extremely aggressive and take advantage of your weakness to get you in. They are predatory. They do not help you, they do not introduce you to anyone, as they say they will. They said your role will start at 120k and give examples of people who made that transition (always the same people), that they will help me negotiating a work visa (which is illegal by the way), and everything in three months. All lies.
