We entered into a contract with Aluma Outdoor Design on 5/22/2024 to extend our patio pergola and install motorized screens. The first part of the job was completed on 8/29/2024. At that time, Aluma told us the motorized screens (remainder of the job) were going to be installed in 3 weeks. It is now more than 3 months after that and they have not been installed. I have lost count of how many times I have called Mr. ******* to get installation dates, and how many times he has promised a date only for nobody to show up at our property. One excuse after another, one broken promise after another. All of this tell us that the company does not want or is not able to complete the job - at this moment we are asking for a refund of the remaining part, so that we can look for another company to complete this job for us.Initial Complaint

He keeps promising doing the job , he said He will do it but he didn't come and he keeps doing the same thing over and over.
I have a lawyer that also send of letter to do the job. he doesn't do it.
he have 53 cases in the court.
i'm not sure why you guys keep his license ?? who protect us.
I'm an educated man. i'm a doctor and I respect the law. I would like to get the same respect and help.

I am rejecting this response because: he states doing it in the last 3 months. The contract was start in Dec'23 (almost 1 year ago). I answered every 3 weeks the phone, he promised doing it then he doesn't answer the phone for 2 weeks then after 4 weeks he will say again. I will do the next week.He keep doing exactly the same pattern.

I am writing to formally request a refund of the $6,450 deposit I paid on August 28, 2024, for the contracted screened room project, which was to include a concrete wall and aluminum cover. As per our agreement, the total contract price was $12,900, and the promised completion date was December 2024. However, the job has not started, and there have been significant delays and failures to secure the necessary ********** date, the contractor has not followed up on the comments provided by the Pembroke Pines permit office after the initial application for the permit was denied on November 6, 2024, due to non-compliance. Despite my multiple attempts to reach out via phone, email, and text, I have received no clear resolution, and the project has not progressed as promised.Over the course of these months, I have been patient and understanding, accepting excuses such as family emergencies, hospital visits, and even a surgery. However, despite numerous assurances that the permit issue would be resolved within hours or days, no tangible progress has been made, and I have been unable to get in contact with you recently as my calls and messages go unanswered.I have also repeatedly requested a refund both verbally and in writing, including from your daughter, with no success. Given the lack of progress, failure to fulfill the contract, and lack of communication, I am now formally requesting a full refund of the deposit.Please respond at your earliest convenience to arrange for the return of my deposit. I hired Aluma Outdoor Design to complete an attached patio with electrical in 2021. From the start, the company was very difficult as they took long than normal to complete the project. It is now **** and the company never completed the permits as per the contract that I signed. I received a Notice of Intent to Lien and Demand for Payment letter on December 8th, 2023 and informed them of the issue. I was informed that the issue would be resolved once they got back from the holiday break. Currently it is January 4th, the company is telling me there is a permit open but Miami Dade County is telling me otherwise. Currently, I have a lien of $10,000 that is pending to take effect on my property in 4 days and a settlement amount of $4,007.43 I just want this issue resolved.Customer Answer

After the company receiving the complaint from the BBB, they refuse to communicate with me about the issue. Through email, they stated that all communication will be done through BBB. As per our conversation yesterday, the electrician has yet to show up to my house. Additionally, I have attached the contract that I signed that shows the cost of the plans and permits. It is now January 9th **** and according to the letter sent by Miami Dade County, my property has lien. I went to the county yesterday for more information on what is going on. I was able to get the enforcement code lifted, no thanks to Aluma Outdoor *********** I have not heard back from them since I filed a complaint and there has been no movement to resolve any of the issues on my property. We are working with *************** to resolve his issue. We had applied and obtained a permit at the time. This all happened during the midst of covid, and a clerical error was made and the permit was executed.
WE did complete their project . They have been difficult to deal with as well

I am rejecting this response because:This is more than a clerical error. I could understand if the error was spotted and then rectified once it was brought to their attention but this is not the case. I have attached the email thread that dates from July 2021 to January 12th ****. The email thread shows the consistent request on my end to have the permit process completed and the constant run around I was receiving from the company. The company stated that I was being difficult, I also believe this to be false. This is yet another reason why I provided the email thread, to show that I have demonstrated more than enough patience during this horrific process.
My concern now is that the company refuses to speak to me directly. I feel like this is hinders the process even more as it could negatively effect the coordination needed come inspection time. Also last night, I looked on Miami Dade County's Permitting website and I was unable to find any open permits on my property. I should be seeing two permits, one for the structure itself and another for all the electrical work that was completed. Can the company provide the necessary information so that both the Better Business Bureau and I can verify that something is being done? I just want all of this to be over with. As demonstrated in the attached email thread, this has been going on for over 2+ years now and I just want what I contractually paid for.

Contract weas signed on April17 and initial deposit was made of 5k. In June i was contacted that the material had arrived and I need to pay the other 1/3 in the amount of 5.5k, which I did. After that there has been constant delays and no-answers to my multiple texts and calls and the job hasn't been completed. today is mid Oct and still nothing. My last calls and texts were more than 3 weeks ago and still no answer.Business Response

Although we took look longer than expected we delivered a beautiful product that I believe exceeded our customers expectations.

originally when we first received this complaint we did recognize ************************* in our customer base.
After further review we found that our customers ********************* placed an order and paid for a patio cover to be installed at there home.
This home was sold to ************************* and unfortunately she does not appear as our customer which created some confusion.
I will reach out to ****** and schedule the installation of the patio cover purchased by the Questall's.
We will followup with the BBB after completion of the installation

On August of 2022 I filed for a permit on a previous Job done by Aluma. I paid **** to have it completed. The permit was to be done initially by December, then January, then February. I had filed for the permit in the event I were to sell my home to avoid any issues. In March I was given the runaround about a misfiling and that it would be completed asap. Come to find out they never filed and pocketed my money. I cancelled the permit with them and asked for a refund. Of the **** they told me 875 was the only amount I would be able to recoup. I was disgusted but just wanted my money back. Since April I have been trying to get them to refund me my money. Its not right what theyve done. I was told on numerous occasions I would receive my money and they never followed thru. Its principle at this point as I feel they stole **** from me and never intended to file the permit. This company makes aluminum products I wanted to build a pergola. On April 23, They came in and the told me that I needed to pay a down payment towards the production of these Pergola that would include and require permits. I gave him $3000 as a deposit. the next day I found out that this company provide a lousy service and they were many customer complaints so I called right away and I requested my deposit back and cancel that contract. I talk to **** the owner he said no problem he would reimburse my $3000, but that never happened, every time I called they keep avoiding me or delaying their refund of the money its been now one full month and I have not seen the $3000 refunded to me yet. They cashed the check the very next day on April 24 and on April 25, after trying to get a hold of the owner, I said I want my money back , they are not responding and they are avoiding my calls. I would like you to do whatever is possible to get my money back. This is not justified in anyways they probably thought that I would forget and not claim my deposit back. Would appreciate you take this to consideration and make sure that they return my money and they do not operate in ******* anymore as there has been so many people complaining about the lack of commitment and the poor job done its obvious that they are trying not to refund my $3000. On 6/16/2022, we signed a contract with Aluma to install a concrete patio, aluminum cover, electric fans, and gutters for the house. The total for the contract was: $ ******. We gave a deposit of $4,300. Once permits were approved, we gave another $4300 in November. On February 9th 2023, the footers were Dug, after many email of pleading with them to start the job. Now we have 3 huge holes in our yard, that is a danger to my dog and guests. I been contacting Aluma to come out and finish the job, all I get from them are promises that they are coming this week, but they never show up. As of 3/6/2023, It has almost been 9 month since we signed the contract and still nothing. They cant even tell me a reason why theres such a delay. I have been polite and patient with them, but still get empty promises. There is no reason why they should not be able to finish the work.. We just want the job finished.
