Purchased a Generac whole home generator for $6000 on June 06, 2022 with a planned installation date of August 26, 2022. When I called to confirm delivery and installation I was told that due to the inclement weather of the past several weeks they were backed up and I was given a new delivery & installation date of September 12, 2022. I attempted to call to confirm and was unable to reach anyone, so I drove to their business address and saw the office emptied out with a Lease sign on the building.Initial Complaint

the contract was signed on Jan 14 ,2022 with Boardwalk..The firm took four months longer to install generator than promised. They kept making excuses about no gas line installers were available. Finally in mid June after numerous calls they got a bid from another plumbing firm and the gas line was completed.We had to pay the new firm even though the gas installation was included in the original fee .We had already made payment in full to Boardwalk. Twice we were promised a refund but Mr. Norwood does not show up as promised. I have called ,emailed and he is extremely unresponsive.The disputed amount is $1,000 .Initial Complaint

On April 12 I put down a $7000 deposit for a Generac generator. I was promised this would be complete by the end of June. I communicated multiple times with the office and they never called back. I stopped by the office to get my refund and the owner stated he will complete it by August 8 or give me my refund plus $1500 back. He put this in writing. He never did any work refused to respond any of my messages and stole my money. He finally replied to a text I sent him today and said he went out of business. I would never do business with This person again he should be barred and arrested.Initial Complaint

Signed a contract on April 19, 2022 and paid $6500 deposit for new 2400kw generator that was to be installed in May, then July, then August, Generator still has not been installed. Company, owner (Michael Norwood), and scheduler (Victor) has now stopped all communication, will not respond to phone calls, e-mails or text messages. I went by office but door was locked. On August 9th, 2022 a check was written to Boardwalk Generators in the amount of $6,500.00 for the purchase of a Generac Home Generator. Since this time, there has been 5 phone calls placed requesting a status of the generator and a message is left with the secretary requesting that a technician call back with a status. And to date, not one phone call has been received proving an update. I am very concerned because of all the contractors in the local Pensacola area ripping people off. I would just like a phone call updating me on the status of the generator that I have paid for.Initial Complaint

I entered into a contract with Michael Norwood, d.b.a. Boardwalk Generator Service, Inc., for the installation of a whole house standby generator at my home. Total cost of the project was $11,849.88. The contract was signed on 11/11/2021 and a deposit of $6850.00 was submitted, with a balance of $4,999.88 due upon completion of the project on 4/14/2022. Boardwalk Generator was no call/no show on that date. After several phone calls to the contractor, none of which were returned, two workers showed up unannounced and did a minimal amount of work on the project, mostly limited to laying down a pre-formed concrete pad for the generator. After numerous calls to the contractor and his representatives, a new installation date of 7/13/2022 was set. On that date, Boardwalk Generator was no call/no show. After repeated phone calls to the contractor, a third installation date was set for 8/5/2022. On that date, Boardwalk Generator was once again no call/no show. I responded to the contractor's office on 8/9/2022 and told contractor that I considered the contract void and requested a refund of my deposit. Michael Norwood said he would respond to my home that afternoon with the refund, but was again no call/no show. On 8/10/2022, I again contacted the contractor and was told my refund would be delivered by 8/12/2022. To date, no refund has been issued.Business Response

I do not except the response from this business because they have already told me that my deposit would be refunded on two prior dates, 8/9/2022 and 8/12/2022. I have given the business, and it's owner, president and primary estimator, Michael Norwood, verbal request for cancellation on two prior occasions, and have also sent written notification, as well as the requested email notification. While it may be true that I entered into contract with Boardwalk Generator Service, Inc., it was Michael Norwood who signed the contract for service, Michael Norwood who accepted my deposit check and Michael Norwood who told me on at least two occasions that he accepted my request for cancellation and would return my deposit. As Mr. Norwood is the owner and president of Boardwalk Generator Services, Inc., and the individual who has made all pertinent promises and actions regarding this contract, I have, for all practical purposes, entered into contract with this individual. On 3/7/22, I received an estimate to install a whole house generator for my home on Daytona Drive. On 3/8, I paid a $6,500 down payment to initiate this service with Boardwalk Generator Service. I communicated via email with Michael (owner) and spoke on the phone at that time. It was stated that the generator would be installed on 6/8. On 6/7, I called Boardwalk and spoke with the receptionist. She stated that the installers would be there on 6/8 to install. On 6/8, I waited all day at home for the installation. No one ever showed up and I called Boardwalk at 4:30pm and asked when the installers would be arriving. I was instructed at that time by the receptionist that "we will need to reschedule for 6/22." I asked to be contacted by Michael, the owner. Michael returned my call on 6/9 and apologized for the lack of communication. He stated that he "would make it right. I made a lot of changes to my staff due to poor communication." He stated he would have his scheduler reach out to me and discuss a time to install. On 6/24, I received a call from the scheduler regarding "getting things in place to get your unit installed." He further stated that he would be on vacation for 1 week and would reach out to me upon his return. I received no communications from Boardwalk 6/24 through 7/22. Florida had been experiencing a large amount of rain, so I understood that the unit could not be installed in these conditions. I called Boardwalk again on 7/21 and spoke with Brittany, the receptionist. I asked her for an update on when I could expect the generator to be installed. She stated that "Victor" the scheduled would reach out to me. I asked to speak with Michael, the owner. She stated he was standing behind her and I could hear them exchange words over the phone. She then stated he was not available, that Victor would reach out to me after "they pulled the permits to install your unit." She promised me a call back for an update. I signed a contract for the purchase and installation of a generator with BGS, April 1, 2022. I was told it would be installed by the end of June or first week of July. There was a guaranteed date of July 20, 2022 that the generator would be fully installed and running by this date. I heard nothing from the company until July 20th. I asked to speak to the owner several times and was told he would call me back. He never did. I went to the BGS on 7/25 and spoke to Michael in person. He agreed to new terms and said he would bring the new contract and a partial refund of my deposit to me on 7/26 to my house at 4:00 pm. He did not show up and was too busy to take my call at 4:30pm, but I was assured he would return the call. He did not return the call. I called two more times and was assured he would call me back. He never did. On July 29th, I went to BGS and spoke to Michael in person and gave him a letter requesting a full refund of my deposit. Michael agreed to refund my full deposit and told me he would have it for me Monday, August 1st by 2:30pm. On Monday, August 1st, Michael was not at work and the office manager told me he was moving. I was told he would be back in the office on Tuesday, August 2nd. I called August 2nd at 8:47am and was told that he would not be in until Friday as he is still moving. The office manager told me that she would let Michael know and she would be expecting me Friday morning. On Friday, August 5th, I went to BGS at 10:30am. I spoke to office manager who told me that Michael was at a meeting. There was no check at the office for me. I told the manager I want my refund today. I have given the company $7400 and have not received the product or service I have paid for in the time frame of the contract. I have requested a full refund several times and I feel Boardwalk Generators has no intention of refunding my deposit for a product and service they failed to provide.Business Response

No one has ever mentioned a cancellation form and I have never been given one to fill out. The contract is now out of date as of July 20th due to Boardwalk Generator Services not fulfilling their end of the contract as the generator was never delivered and was not installed at my house by July 20th. I spoke to Michael in person to request the refund and gave him a letter in person which stated I am requesting a full refund. He failed to provide the refund on the date he agreed to have it ready and failed to respond to my multiple attempts to speak to him after. That letter is also attached to this complaint. Per your request, I will send an email of cancellation and request for full refund to the email address [email protected]. On 3/4/22 I purchased a generator from Boardwalk Generator Service, Inc for $18472.25. On that day I gave Michael Norwood, the owner, a deposit of $9200.00 with the agreement that all systems including gas and electric would be completed by 5/31/2022 with the generator being installed by 7/27/2022. As of this date only minimal work has been done. I have contacted Boardwalk repeatedly and was told daily that they would be at my house the next day. No one has come yet and the owner was supposed to meet with me on Monday 7/25/2002. He never came or called.Business Response
