We had to file a police report to get our $6000 deposit back from Harpers. Per Florida Statute - Title XXXII - Chapter 489 - Section 126, contractors who violate this statute are guilty of theft. No updates or communication from the owner until the police contacted him.Harper's 1980, LLC

Harpers1980 on 2/7/24 was given a$4000 deposit for an aluminum Storm protection shutter. It was to Be installed the first week of April,This never happened. The sales rep never answered text,Phone calls or emails. There is no Way to contact them. We just want our money returned To usHarper's 1980, LLC

Just finished our cage rebuild from the hurricane in 2022. Contracted in Nov '22 for a *** '24 completion. Told it would be earlier, but was promised for *** '24. I would say the communication prior to the last three months was terrible! Work was completed 3 months after the promised *** date. BUT, the crew that did the work was lead by *****, and I would give them a 5+ rating. Also they did fulfill the contract and I am extremely happy with the cage construction. The communication over the last month or two was a great improvement also. So, on the whole this is a 4 rating. And, this is the 4th project they have done for us. All the other would be a five. I think that they got into a hole for whatever reason and are trying to work them selves out of it.Harper's 1980, LLC

I am in the same situation as many of these other customers. My personal belief is that the company has gone bankrupt. ********************* does not return calls. Their show room is locked.Charlotte County needs to close them down. They need to be prosecuted for fraud by the ******* Attorney general. They have scamed people out of thousands of dollars.Harper's 1980, LLC

1 starOwe chose ********************** 1980 because they are a local business 04-03-2023: We provided a $5000.00 deposit towards a new pool cage(19%) On 04-05-2023 we provided a $3250.00 deposit for roll down shutters (50%) ****************** told us the pool cage build would probably be in December but could be sooner. But our invoice stated it would be 8-10 months after measure which put the install from December 2023 to February 2024.Charlotte County, ******* has a statue ******* that requires a contractor who collects a down payment greater than 10% to apply for a permit within 30 days and start work within 90 days. (We did not know this at the time we paid those large down payments). ********************** 1980 did not adhere to this statue. We explained to ****************** that because we live in a deed restricted community, all outside work needed HOA approval before work began. We needed confirmation that Charlotte County permits were in place and plans submitted for approval. We also sent an email to ************************* ********************** 1980 President and Manager and ****************** asking for plans. We heard nothing from ********************** for the next 3 months. Phone calls and emails went unanswered; ****************** went to the showroom in person to get some answers. *********************, told us that he didnt know where our shutters were. In January we received an email from ***** acknowledging that he failed to get back to us and claimed manufacturing delays and labor shortages. We forwarded an email from our home owners association informing us that we could not get approval for modifications to our home because ********************** 1980 has not yet applied to Charlotte County for permits or submitted engineers plans. We then heard from ********************* on January 22, 2024 stating that it is in the process and then blaming original salesman *********************** for failing to turn this in right away. He totally discounted all of our phone calls, 2 in-person visits, and emails asking about why everything is so delayed. We asked form our money back.Review fromN. P.

This client cancelled within the contract timeframe. He is involved with a circle of people who are attempting to smear Harpers.
The contract states if the client cancels within the timeframe, a 5% deduction is instituted. Perhaps there should be honesty on both ends. He was sent the refund.

I have much better things to do than attempt to smear harpers I agree I did cancel my contract within the timeframe. It is completely within my rights to cancel and Im glad I did. I read online that Harpers wasn't completing other projects, so I emailed, texted, and called Harpers and received no response. I commented on social media that I was concerned with the complaints I was reading. ******************* my comment and immediately contacted me in a very aggressive and unprofessional manner. He said If I wanted to cancel, I had to send him a registered letter and he would refund my $2000 deposit in 30 days. According to the contract, there was a 5% cancelation fee. My deposit was $2000 5% = $1900. On March 30th, 30 days after he received my cancelation letter I emailed and asked him to email me proof he sent it but there was no response. I started a small claims court case to get my refund and when he received the summons, he sent me a check for $765 that I received on May 9th. I cashed that check and kept my case open to force Harpers to pay me the balance of my deposit. Im supposed to get that by September 17th. No, I havent received my full refund. October 2023 contracted for shutters, gave 50% down payment and install was to occur January 2024. No one answers the phone, returns calls after VM, answers emails.According to Charlotte County their contract license has been suspended. Terrible terrible company. I think we are all finding this out now because it's probably been almost a year since we contracted with Harpers. I am adding myself into this misery. Conracted for new pool cage in April 23 to be completed within 8-12 months. Gave $5K deposit. No phone calls, emails, text being answered. I saw that one reviewer stated they had to send a certified letter to Harpers attorney. Does anyone know the name of the attorney representing Harpers? I looked on the Charlotte County gov site and there are only around 100 permits applied for by Harpers since Sept 2022 for residential pool cages. I am not one of them!Harper's 1980, LLC

I have spoken to the homeowner and the explanation is clear.
We are well within contract installation date. She told Harpers, her complaint states, that the phones go unanswered. While she was stating this, her husband was in background yelling that HE had been talking to us. Her reasoning for a One Star on here and ****** was that she wanted to be certain she gets her cage.
Upon further research of this client, 1 Star reviews are all any company gets from her. She should have at least waited fro us to work on the cage before doing this complaint.

We signed a contract with Harpers 1980 LLC in May 2023. We gave Harpers 50% down($6500.00). We were promised by ***** the job would be complete by the end of sept 2023. Well here we are March 2024. ***** handed it over to his father in law *****. We have a long trail of emails to *****. We were promised installation Nov23 Dec 23 Jan24 Feb24. They do not have the product and they have no intention of ordering them. Lies !!! They say they have many family emergencys that get in the way of ordering and installation. Our last email to ***** was please return our deposit! ****** response is Ill be waiting to hear from your attorney. ***** and ***** are taking money and not fulfilling their contracts. Very disappointed in Harpers. ***** and ***** should be accountable for taking our money and continually lying to many of their customers. We still see full page *************** Harpers LLC. This client chose to get a refund on his credit card. He still continues to defame Harpers even tough he was contacted regarding refund. He would rather leave a post on social media than remove as a refunded customer.
