The issue is that the merchant has this payment posted May 09, 2024 to my account my bank says they took the payment has it without any doubts , they made me pay it agian saying they didn't recieve it and I was charged a late fee and paid it agian , when I talked to the gentlemen showed him I got charged the argument was they didn't have it and I had to pay agian when clearly that isn't true and refuse to post it or refund it so basically they stole 402 dollars from me and refuse to refund or credit my account when they clearly took it , this letter in the picture is the bank trying to recover my loss and prove they have it still there is no resolution and they refuse they have it when they have been provided proof from myself and the bank they do, I'm hoping that you may can help my next course of action is legal action I am hoping they can simply correct there mistake or investigate embezzlement within there organization because it's very clear they took payment and recieved it and still have it and refuse to be cooperative with me or my bank even any help would be appreciated thank youBusiness Response

Good day! We believe that this BBB complaint is for a company other than Storage Rentals of America. We researched our files and could not find a customer with his name and/or with that email address. Can the customer provide us with information that would show that he rents from us at our *************************************. We cannot find any history with him. This could be a unit under another person's name or if he has more details, we can point this in the right direction. We are sorry about this and welcome an opportunity to help resolve this matter, but not sure that it is for SROA - Storage Rentals of America.

We have made several attempts to reach out to the tenant regarding the below complaint but have been unable to make live contact. We do not see evidence of the $402 transaction he is referring to. The customer brought to our attention on 6/13 that he saw a transaction and that he would be disputing it on his end and that no further action would be needed on our part. We are happy to assist if the customer was charged in error. We would ask for the customer to provide us with evidence of the additional charge so we can verify this with our back office and get the matter corrected. This company allarently took over my storage unit and has now raised the prices and added fees and all kinds of stuff. I just want my stuff but now they are holding it hostage. I paid my bill last monthon the sixtteenth and wasnt given all these fees and c*** that made the rent 50% highter. NOW its the 15th and theyve already taken my stuff hostage bc apparently the office manager was there one day out of the blue and decided to lock my stuff up. The reason that we have not been able to respond sooner is that we have not been able to reach the tenant. We have left messages, but have not spoken with him to hopefully come to a mutual resolution. We are going to close it and hope that the customer will make every effort to reach our team to discuss further. Sorry that we cannot help further, but not from a lack of trying.

I am rejecting this response because:I have called and emailed on multiple occasions. The only information ever provided is that my payment is being processed. I have received an invoice which states they acknowledge their need to pay, so at this point my input is not needed as they only need to submit said payment. The bold lie to claim that I have not contacted and talked with multiple representatives is outlandish in the extreme. I have attached a screenshot of multiple calls and of the multiple emails.

Our Claims team attempted to contact ***** on 7/31/2024 at ************ but was unable to reach him. We then tried again to reach him on 9/3/2024, and after not receiving an answer, left him a voicemail. Unfortunately, weve been unable to establish contact with *****, as there is no email address on file.

We rented storge unit(#**) from what used to be Red Dot Storage. We all of a sudden get a letter in July stating it is now called Storage Rentals of America. In the letter, "You must choose coverage or elect to provide your own coverage WITHIN THIRTY-DAYS. If you do not choose a coverage level within these thirty (30) days, you will be enrolled into the SROA Tenant Protection Plan at the minimum required. Went to their "office on *****. Empty building. CS stated they have a property manager, must be round their other properties" To leave the form in the dropbox, No dropbox. Decided to mail by Priority Mail our declination of property insurance, since we have our own. Required to send in by 31 Aug or they will add this fee. Returned from the *********** as being "Vacant", ***** told me they have several others unable to deliver, unable to contact business. Also we paid this rental by the 17th. In their letter they wanted this by the 1st of each month.Business Response

I have been with Red Dot Storage Seen 2020 and in July 2024 Storage Rental of America took over and they went up on the prices and no one talk to me about the change. They locked the gate to prevent me from getting in both of my storages. And I called to work with them and my bill was 101 and some change and now they put $100.00 auction fee on in July and late charges, insurance and taxes now my bill is $420.and counting.and my other storage is ****** is do on the 12th of the month. I asked lasted month to pay half $185.00 and she wouldn't except. They call every day and there auction is the end of the month. And I talked two different people and they asked me did I talk to the manager . I told them yes. they asked me did try to make a arrangement. We recently purchased the property. She was sent a letter and an email in the mail indicating the change of ownership and inviting her to come in to review the terms of our lease and sign a new lease. Alternately she had the option to move out, but by remaining in her unit she agrees to be bound by the terms of our lease. She is past due on her unit (has not made payment 7/1, 8/1 or 9/1) and as a result she has been denied access and charged late fees pursuant to the lease. We have made attempts to reach out to her regarding this complaint, but she has not responded. We have made multiple contact attempts to resolve the balance. Upon making her full past due payment her access to her space will be granted. Without making her payment we will be forced to proceed with lien sale on her unit.Customer Answer

I just got a letter last Thursday about the selling of my thinks and they have been in my storage going through my things. I payed to the manager at the storage places on July ******* to a lady with tattoo on her arms. They lock you out the gate and went up to ***** late charges. I have been talking to them. I asked to make a paraial payment. I'm 68 years old on a fixed income. There not telling the true about not here from me. I told them about me having a **********************. I received a letter stating that **** had taken over Red Dot Storage. I have been using this unit for years without a single problem. When SROA took over I started receiving emails about late fees and about paying my bill. This is happening even after auto pay was set up twice. They just keep telling me to make additional payments on the account. I have been unable to speak with a manager for weeks now. They always just make a note or send a ticket. Never an answer or solution not even a return call as promised. I have had my access to my unit taken away. I did finally get a temporary code to gain access. This is the most irresponsible company ever. I am 1 week from moving all of my belongings to another storage company.Business Response

I paid the new company $173 for the rent of the first month they own the storage units. They have not credited my *********** they are force placing insurance on the storage unit. My unit has rotten rubber underneath and bugs and dust get inside and is not even in condition to rent. I've been a SROA customer since May 2020, and rates have increased frequently. My 5x10 unit started at $119/month and is now $196/month, up from $153 just last month.Their website shows conflicting information: the payment page lists $155 for a 5x10 unit, while the home page advertises $129. I have more screenshots to submit if needed.I've experienced ongoing issues with this company. After paying $1492 for a year, they demanded an additional $500 due to rate increases.This seems unfair. Based on their advertised rates, I am being continually overcharged. Every time I reach out to them, they ALWAYS say, "Let me look into this for you" and no one gets back to me. They consistently ignore complaints.Since ******** I've paid $1713.06, but their promotional rate suggests I should have paid $1240 - a $473.06 difference. And that's just for one year.Something needs to be done and I need to be refunded that huge difference.Business Response

I rented a storage unit from Storage Rental of America in the month of April and in June a Stihl chainsaw was stolen from the unit. I file a police report and I file an insurance claim. My claim was denied because they said there was not any evidence that the unit was broken into. I dont know how someone got into the unit. I changed the lock that was given to me by the storage place and I doubled checked the lock from then on. Then on 08/24//2024 we want to get somethings out of the unit and the unit had been broken into again.One of my TV was sitting outside the unit. The door was still locked and there was no sign of forced entry. I moved all my things out of the unit that day. I believe this was an inside job and that the company is well aware of the problem of someone being able to get into units without forcing it open.Business Response

I believe there is something going on at this business that people units are broken in without having to break the lock or damage the door. I also believe the company is aware of this and does not want to pay to fix the problem so the just keep denying insurance claims.
