I signed up with delta dental about 8 months ago. The representative that helped me gave me wrong information and told me that coverage for a crown that needed to be fixed would go into affect the next day and there was NO WAITING PERIOD!! So I signed up with Delta Dental. Come to find that was was not true at all and this representative LIED! I paid over 400$ for my part of the crown and Delta Dental was to cover the other portion and refuses. *** filed a claim 2x and asked that they pull the call of the representative and that was never done. I need Dental Dental to make it right and PAY the amount due 600$ to my dentist as I was told by the representative. This needs to happen immediately or I will go to the *** and assure the representative is reprimanded properly for lying and giving false information and take legal action!Business Response

To whom it may concern,I am filling a grievance with Delta Dental of *************. Though I live and work in California. My employer has this plan for California residents.Here is my complaintHad a routine crown replacement.. 11 yrs since original porcelain crown was placed with Delta dental insurance!I live in California.. not knowing my current delta insurance was from *************. And that they do not cover porcelain crowns.. I am not allowed to do silver or any other metals.. I have a metal allergy and cant place any form metal on my skin or in my mouth..This is toxic and harmful to my health.I feel I was very deceived and not properly informed of porcelain crowns not being covered..as it has always been cover by delta dental insurance I have had, so I had no question that it wasnt covers.. plus metals are toxic to everyone. My crown was cost $1795. Plus X-rays . California doesnt use silver fillings or crowns anymore, certainly my dental office does not. I am a new client for Delta Dental. I have now made hours of attempts to book an appointment with any of your providers. Your website is horrible in that it allows a dentist to list themselves up to a dozen times. It says ************** 5 miles but that is fraud! It's actually 4 dentists that have listed themselves 39 times. WTF I am so annoyed with your service. How do I get a list of dental offices without any repeats?Business Response

July 2022 I reached out to Delta Delta dental for assistance with enrolling into a Dental plan. I specifically asked for a plan that covered orthodontics and the agent advised she would be providing a plan that covered orthodontics. 2/13/2023 I went to an orthodontist and was advised that my insurance does not cover braces. I reached out to Delta Dental since I was sure I specifically asked for and was told my plan covered orthodontics. The agent I spoke with on 2/14/23 advised the plan only covers orthodontics for individuals up to 17 years of age. I never had any intent of adding my kids to my dental plan and I never gave the impression or discussed adding my kids so why would I knowingly request a dental plan that covers orthodontics for 17 and under when I only wanted the plan to cover orthodontics for myself. I have other insurance which covers myself and my kids for routine and emergency dental care. The initial agent assisting me failed to disclose the details of the plan provided when I reached out to ensure I was getting the correct dental plan for my needs. Ive been paying for a plan since based off of misinformation and a failure by the initial agent to properly advise that there was a age restriction on orthodontics coverage.Business Response

UNFORTUNATELY FOR SOME REASON DELTA DENTAL IS BILLING ME FROM APRIL OF 2022. IN WHICH I NEVER SEEN A DENTIST OR USED THE INSURANCE. THEY ALREADY KNEW THAT I WAS SIGNED UP FOR THIS PLAN DUE TO FRAUD ON BEHALF OF A 3RD PARTY COMPANY THAT SIGNED ME UP AS WELL AS NUMEROUS OTHER UNSUSPECTING PEOPLE FOR INSURANCE FOR A COMMISSION. My insurance was paid through my employer, which I was covered til 09/31/2021. I had dental service done 12/2020 until 09/31/2021 which was not paid by delta dental. I was informed of this issue 01/2023 and contacted delta dental to find out details. Once being informed that the claims were submitted after the deadline I contacted the dentist office and and received time stamps of electronic submissions of the claims within the covered timeframe that were sent to delta dental. I completed a grievance with delta dental 01/2023 and asked for the bills to be paid since I was covered at that time, and to make this issue right. Delta dental denied the grievance and still states they have no submissions of the claims within the timeframe.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I waived my hippa rights by disclosing my personal health/dental information. I have completed a formal grievance by phone with a Delta dental agent, which was denied by Delta dental. When I spoke to another agent I was met with an attitude. Delta dental needs to uphold the image that was submitted confirming the billing was billed and submitted to their company within the timeframe. And cover the services that were rendered under my policy at that time.

Two of my children received dental care. We contacted Delta Dental prior to any procedure to ensure we were compliance with coverage. I received an invoice from my provider and contacted Delta Dental to discuss coverage. I spoke to a Supervisor named ****** and expressed my concerns regarding the partial coverage. She mentioned that this particular filling for my 5 year old daughter was only covered once every two years and suggested to contact the previous dentist office to discuss compensation. My family and I moved from AK to TN, discussing with her previous dentist regarding compensation is no option for my family. How do we expect to get preventative care if you are only covering procedures once ever two years? Did you want my 5 year old daughter to wait for another year for this procedure to be completed where the bill and preventative cost would be 2x-3x as much than it is today? Delta Dental does all it can to avoid paying for services. This company repeatedly refused to pay for a covered service my daughter has received from Lufkin endodontics. The company says it needs documentation (radiographs) from my daughter's dentist. I call and ask the dentist to send the documentation Delta has requested. . The dentist then sends the documentation with an *** so that it's explained to this company that Delta says it has no record of receiving the documents. This has happened twice. What can a consumer do if the company repeatedly says it has lost or not received my Documation. The dentist says it was sent. The dentist has no reason to not send it. Delta on the other hand has reasons to "misplace" the documentation in the hopes that the consumer will not follow up. The dentist office tells me that the reason they want cash up front from consumers covered by delta is this exact reason. A great deal of dentist refuse to deal with this company due the dishonesty and greed this company exacts on consumers and businesses. The company scams, drags its feet and fights every effort to avoid paying for services. I am currently in the middle of a third attempt to get delta to pay for covered services. We have once again sent the supporting documentation the requested. I called and asked delta to send me an email with the exact instructions they need to receive and file the documents. Guess what...they didnt send the email. I have copied the *** account, number and refusal explanation to the documents again. I'm certain I will have to call numerous times to follow up and and babysit Delta through its measured profit driven inadequacy.Business Response
