1 starMILITARY VET PROFILED AND JUDGED BASED ON APPEARANCE. WHAT DOES A BUSINESS STATUS OR APPEARANCE HAVE TO DO WITH VETERAN STATUS? Let me start saying I have been a member of *** for more than 3 years and have stayed at several locations for lengthy stays. Therefore, I did not hesitate to book a room for my son whom is currently homeless and awaiting assistance from veterans services. Upon me calling in to local book the reservations I was routed to the reservations center. OK, fine....in speaking with the representative I informed her of the situation and she proceeded to quote me a military rate which was lower than seen on the website, She stated to me he would only need to prove he was a veteran through his ID...perfect. Then, I was meet with an authorization form was required since I was not on site. Tired after being on the phone with her for over an hour to get this handled I was informed that all was well and he could head to the hotel. ONLY to be meet with profiling and attitude by the hostess ****** and tell me that the rate would not be honored, but not giving a valid reason. So, I requested to speak with a manager. I was told ******* would be in the next day and I could speak with her. Needless to say it is 24 hours later and I still have not received a returned phone call. I have spoken with *** whom said she could not answer my question as she was in training. I spoke with ***** who took down my contact information and I called again only for *** to now tell me that since my son was not there on business the rate would not be honored. Again I ask WHAT DOES a business status have to due with his veteran status? I am a paying customer, my son is having a mental health crisis and because he didn't look the part he was profiled. REALLY! He was not there sleeping for free, nor did he bother anyone. So for him to be made to feel as an outsider when he has served this country is an outrage.Review fromgena j

1 starI had the worst experience with this piticaular hotel. My husband and I had reservations for 2 days. Due to unforseen circumstances we choose to stay another night due to my husband's surgery he had to have. I called front desk and asked to resever that room again and she explained that room was not available but another one was. I said that was fine and she brought up the new cards and took the current room card back since we was be moved to the new room. I thought all was taken care of since she said she had it everything reserved. Later that evening I received a call from front desk asking me if I was checking out because room service was in my new room cleaning. I said no its reserved for that night she said it wasn't. So I asked her to please reserve it since I was at the hospital waiting on my husband surgery. I then went back to the hotel leaving my husband only to find out the room still wasnt reserved. Once that was taken care of and I checked out the next day. I looked at the hotel bill and my bank statement is was charged 5 times for parking and charged for 4 nights. I had to get ahold of the manager and he told me I wasnt. Finally I reached out to support they placed a claim. My parking was charged back to my account. However the ********************** is still pending. Not only that our room had something on the sheets and something white on the curtains. It wasnt clean like it should have been. Needless to say I will no longer be staying at that hotel nor recommend it to anyone.Review fromZhongwang D

1 starVery unpleasant stay at this Holiday Inn Express (HIE). Check-in ~5:30PM was seemingly normal on 14 May, at almost 11pm we were awoken by front desk demanding we let them scan our credit card again. I told the clerk we'd handle the problem in the AM. Before going back to sleep, I checked my credit card, and it appeared to the credit card was properly processed upon check-in. AM 15 May we had breakfast at the hotel. Gravy for the biscuits looked & smelled a little "off" so we ate the cheese omelets, ******************* Later that AM I went down and met the ** to provide my credit card if still necessary but first wanted an explanation why the clerk chose to wait until late at night to wake us regarding something that could have been handled during daylight. The ** got nasty, lost his temper and told us to leave the hotel which we immediately did. His unprofessional and threatening demeanor was frightening. After leaving the hotel and finding separate accommodation, about 2 pm both of us began having stomach cramps and diarrhea which lasted through late morning on May 16th. It is clear to us we consumed one (or more) food items which were spoiled. We also made a formal complaint to ***. When the hotel ** saw our complaint in the *** system he sent me an email simply stating "LOL DRAMA". The **'s unprofessional behaviors during our short stay and subsequently is reprehensible and reflects poorly on ********* brands. I did some research regarding this employee (the **). This person has been employed in HIE Hotels as follows: HIE *************** April 2016 to April 2017; HIE ************** April 2017 to July 2018; HIE ******************* July 2018 to June 2021; HIE Downtown *********** June 2021 to Oct 2024. I searched reviews of ALL these hotels during the time of his employment and found at least one (if not many) poor or terrible reviews at all locations which focused on abusive treatment of customers by this employee, identifying him either by name or position.Review frommike J

1 starThe worst experience my *********** have ever had; & my daughter. We had hotel reservations for a basketball tournament. Front desk clerk, *** ****** checked me/husband in on 4/4/25. 8:00 pm, my daughter called, asked us to go in as a parent (per *** ******* add our name to her room; pay $25 dog fee; and it would be held since arriving eta 3:00 am. I went in, *** ***** was on the phone with my daughter upset she could not find a reservation for her; put her on hold (NEVER went back to her). She called me. For ***** mins. I only calmly asked what was wrong. She said she gave her room to a man who had his credit card on file. She, being new at the desk by herself, frustratedly tried to figure out what to do; locked the desk & went to see who was in the room; called the man (who later came to the ********** told him he was fine). She then called the front desk mgr, ****** ******* who did "not know" what occurred with me the 1st 25 mins.; tried to walk her thru what to do over the phone to no avail. *** ***** went in the back room twice (phones ringing, put all on hold; people at front desk with snacks she told to go without paying). After about 30 mins (dinner reservation lost), I asked if I could speak to the mgr.; explained something should be done since she gave her room away & we lost our reservation. She replied, loudly, "Did you hear what she said?" She went in back again, and now upset I asked why can't we just get her in another room, and I pay. She yelled, "I'm doing you guys a favor". She lied; my daughter explained what she told her to have us do. She then went in back again, "canceled" her reservation; told me/husband we had to leave; and called the police to be sure we left. I complained to *** escalated to Asst **** ******** ****** 3xs; said she never got the complaint, & no authority to get in the system to see it or reply. She offered ***** IHG pts to me/2,500 to my daughter. A slap in the face. They would not give us Gen. **** name/email. Terrible!!!!!Review fromMisty W

1 starGM Cancelled my reservation during spring break after I had paid for it when I mentioned that I was dissatisfied with the service. Yelled at me and finally said we reserve the right to cancel your reservation and now it's cancelled. General Manager and front desk hung up on me multiple times. Worst staff I have ever encountered and I will never stay with this franchise again let alone the hotel. See my review on trip advisor for more details and this catastrophe that ruined a beautiful vacation. I have never been treated so poorly by hotel staff. My card was not to even be charged until check in, but the room was paid for. I expressed dissatisfaction about the situation but was in no way aggressive. Didn't even cuss. Between the two of us, I was the more professional one. This manager cancelled my reservation out of pure spite and left my family of 6 with no where to go on our 14 hour drive home. See screenshot attached and trip advisor. This GM obviously has some unchecked anger issues or some kind of a superiority complex. Never staying at an IHG trash hotel again, on my life. Id sleep in a cardboard box first. There are reviews on trip advisor very similar to my own, regarding how the manager cancelled reservations due to complaints.Review fromAmber R.

1 starIf I could give NO stars, I would. I am writing to formally express my concerns and disappointment regarding a recent booking experience at ***************** in ******, *******, an *** property. The reservation was made with a check-in date of March 21, 2025.I called the property directly on March 19, 2025 to ensure that my son could check in without my or my husband's physical presence. I specifically and repeatedly informed the booking agent that he would be arriving alone, and I needed to confirm that this would not be an issue. The representative took my sons name and added him to the reservation, giving us her verbal assurance that he would be able to check in as planned. At no point during the conversation was any age restriction disclosed. This is particularly frustrating given that we are *** Rewards Members and rely on the integrity and professionalism of *** properties when making arrangements for family travel.Furthermore, the hotel is three hours from our home, and the sole purpose of the call was to ensure this specific scenario was acceptable. Had the minimum check-in age of 21 been disclosed, I would have made alternate arrangements. The failure of the hotel representative to provide this critical information constitutes a clear oversight and breakdown in communication and has created undue stress and logistical challenges.Review fromBrock G

1 star*** seems to have no real oversight of its franchised hotels, and as a result, its customers are suffering. Their Clean Promise is anything but a promise when the businesses that open franchises under them choose not to adhere to it. In my opinion, their "Clean Promise" amounts to nothing more than lip service to get people to stay at their properties. I guess I shouldn't expect any less from a hospitality company that hasn't even bothered to get BBB Accredited. I have no intention of ever staying at an *** property again in my life. If the alternatives are an IHG property and the street, I will choose the street without hesitation. Businesses are trending towards a very negative future and Hospitality businesses have been in a sharp decline of quality for some time now. *** having a BBB Rating of F really does make sense to me based upon my experience with them and their franchised property. We as consumers have a right to know what kind of hotels we will be staying in, and we should have the right to a clean and safe space in our travels as promised by these hospitality companies. In my estimation, *** has failed to provide me with even a basic amount of hospitality.Review fromDaniel M

2 starsBooked a reservation in error and management was not willing to make an exception. Said I was a government employee traveling with orders, which I'm not, I'm a veteran. Mercy, one of the online concierge, tried to assist me to no avail, but she tried.Shame on you, Holiday Inn. I hope this is an isolated incident and not a common issue with veterans.
