I ordered a Gates waterpump from NAPA online as the local store didn't have it. Whoever shipped it, just put a lable on the original flimsy box (no packing) and of course the part was damaged. Looked at the websire and it said I could take it to the local NAPA store for exchange. The local NAPA store in ***********, ** said they don't do exchanges or refunds as they are not a company store - they are an independent. After way too much time on the phone and computer, I finally got a label to return the pump for a refund. Good news is I purchased the exact same pump on Amazon for half the price and it arrived double boxed and packed with bubble wrap - no damage. NAPA sent me a request to review my expereince so I did. They took exception to me pointing out the part was improperly packaged, part was damaged and I bought the part elsewhere for less. They refused to post my review, so I'll post it here...

I bought brake calipers for my **** f250. The calipers came with a life time warranty, I had one fail after a couple years they gave me a replacement at no cost. That caliper also failed 2 years later. So I take it back to the same NAPA and was told that the caliper had a limited lifetime warranty and it only covers manufacturers defects, so I said how do you know it's not defective. He replied, he couldn't prove it was defective so I am on my own and the warranty is null. So in a nut shell NAPA warranty is worthless and customer service is **** worse!

What a mess Ordered 2 shocks online and added an air freshener to cart as the 3rd item made the entire order cheaper. Received the parts a week later and they were two completely different shocks and not what I ordered. Brought them to the store to do a return and was met with the worst customer service person I have ever encountered. Without looking up at me he just stated you have to go online to do the return. Tried to ask another question and he simply stated again you have to do the return online. I then try to start the online return process and they tell me I have to call. I then call and after 20 minutes finally get a packing slip to send it back. I sent it the next day and after a week I get refunded $3 on a $40ish order. Had to call again as the email for customer service has an automated out of office response. After another ***** minutes on the phone I am told its gonna be another 48 hours so they can research. What? I at this point could care less about the $40 as I have over 2 hours invested into fixing their mistake. I get that sometimes things happen but dealing with an awful associate in the store, an antiquated online process, and an even worse return experience I will not go back. How can you offer buy online pickup in store and not buy online return in store in the first place. I normally never leave reviews as I think its better to just not give them your business going forward but was aggravated enough this time to waste even more of my time

Broke down a few weeks ago off of I-75 in Lee County, ** The *** tow truck driver took my car and me to ************** on Rt 41 in *************. They never really found what caused my car to break down so they applied the shotgun approach: change all the spark plugs and wires and put two new tires on the front, replace a broken motor mount. This was an exorbitant $2700. Then a few days ago the car popped a tie rod in the front. The *** tow truck driver took me back to the same Napa. A little later **** from Napa called to say two new tie rods would be $700. After some questioning we learned the tie rods were not bent or broken but had come disconnected. After additional discussion with **** he said he would locate the special nuts to reattach the one that had disconnected and put another one on the other tie rod since it was also missing this important nut. The cost of this would be $70, a far cry from $700 to replace two tie rods. But we would have been charged $700 had we not question the need to replace them. My son is a trained auto mechanic. When I told him this story he said we had been taken by ****, both with the $2700 charge as well as with the tie rod situation. He said tie rods do not come unattached on their own, that someone had purposely removed the nuts. The last people to work on the front end were Napa technicians when they put two new front tires on the car the end of April. I cant prove they removed the tie rod nuts, but I wonder about it. We will not go back to Napa. We feel we cannot trust them to do necessary work at a reasonable price. I will share this information with my friends in ******* and **** where we live during the summer months. A business cannot survive when it loses the trust of its customers.

Terrible online ordering experience!!! I ordered two parts online for same day in-store pickup. After placing the order, I realized one part was not in stock at my local store. I tried to cancel the order for one part at the store within 1/2 hour of placing the order and was told I had to "call corporate" (I did buy a part that was in stock at the store) I tried to cancel online through chat and email...no luck. I called customer service and was told I couldn't cancel the order and I would have to reject the delivery or accept and go through the return process. This is within an hour and a half of placing the order and it clearly hadn't shipped. What a complete waste of resources and incredibly inefficient!!! So, I accepted and went through the ridiculous return process and was assured I would also be refunded my initial shipping charge (as a courtesy...what a joke). The part was returned and I received a refund minus the shipping cost...absolutely ridiculous!!!!
