I was parked at a Midtown parking garage and got booted, even though I paid for the parking. When I called to get the boot off and explained that I had paid, they told me they couldn't do anything at this point. I needed to pay the $75 fine and I could dispute my case later by going to their website and providing documentation. I did that, and included screen shots of the email I received with my parking information, as well as text messages related to my parking session. They told me the boot was installed at 4:11pm, and my receipts showed that I had paid at 3:15pm for a 2 hours session. After submitting my documentation They took 4 days to reply, and finally said that after further review they determined that my car was in violation and my case was being closed. No information was given as to how they determined I was in violation.I tried to call them again but got an answering message that said, if you want to talk to a parking manager you need to submit your information online and somebody will call you within 72 hours. I did that weeks ago and still haven't heard from anybody. There is no way for us regular citizens to hold these parking companies accountable, so I'm hoping the BBB can help me out.

I was booted for not having a handicap decal in my apartment building parking deck. I paid to get the boot off, but submitted a dispute including a photo of my handicap decal with my name on it. The company responded saying I was in violation.

I parked legally at ******************** on 7/1/2025. According to the apartment, only spots marked as BH are reserved for the apartment and subject to immobilization. Whoever placed a boot on my car clearly did not know the rules of the lot/did not care to check the spot I was parked in. If he or she had any ounce of responsibility, they would have seen that I parked legally. I have already placed a dispute, but have yet to receive a response. This is unacceptable behavior by the company.

I purchased parking at a lot at ******************** on 24 June for $10.60. I used an app to make the purchase entering all required information and got a confirmation. I have photos of the transaction, my tag, and the charge showing up on my bank statement. When my wife and I returned to the car it had been booted, stating that I had not furnished my tag number. As you can see it had been furnished. I'd like a full refund of the $75. I filed a dispute with EPS and it was denied stating I was in violation.

The app for registering your car for parking does not allow the ability to go on line and extend your parking time. So in the 15 minutes it took to walk back to the parking lot and extend parking, my car was booted. This is clearly a predatory approach to parking. The attendant is riding around a sedan with a truck full of boots. When asking if the parking fee for the second period would be refunding, this was denied by the attendant. This company very aggressively pursues the booting of cars. This is a management approach for aggressively pursuing a $75/day boot fee.

      Business Response

      Date: 06/30/2025

To whom it may concern, vehicle was booted 17 minutes after their registration has already expired. Vehicles need to be registered at all times to park. Failure to do so results in violation and possible immobilization/ towing. We cannot address the second parking fee because we are a separate merchant from "text2park" and do not charge anyone for parking.

I am rejecting this response because:  the manner in which this system works is unacceptable.  It results in an over aggressive parking penalty for people trying to do the right thing and pay for parking.   ********************* systems that do not allow paying to park 1 minutes after your time expires and having to return to the parking lot in the 17 minute period is a system rigged to generate revenue aggressively by bottling cars.  Im sure the techs booting cars get paid on the basis of how many they boot.  This is a corrupt system and should be modified or stopped altogether.

      Sincerely,

      *** *********

I sent the following message to this company today ..."Last Thursday 6/12, I paid $75 to get unbooted in Zone #****. I immediately completed your dispute form, but theres been no reply. I fully intended to pay your parking fee, if required, after returning to my vehicle, and believe that I deserve the refund for these reasons ... 1.The sign did not say PAY IN ADVANCE. If it had, Id have done so immediately. 2.I was a patron of BrewDog, next to the parking, and customers can often have ********************** validated, requiring no payment. 3.I didnt know how long Id be gone, so wouldnt know how much to pay. For these reasons, I am again requesting that you process my refund."Here is their reply, (sent from EPS No-Reply) ..."Hello, Weve investigated the circumstances in which your vehicle was immobilized. After reviewing the evidence, we have determined that your vehicle was in violation and have closed your dispute case."This company is intentionally predatory and deceptive. "PAY IN ADVANCE" is what their sign needs to say.

To whom it may concern, vehicle was booted in one of the lots which utilizes a prepaid parking system. There are signs inside the lot which informs customers that vehicles need to be registered in advance. This particular vehicle was given nearly 30 minutes to register. The boot was placed in accordance with property rules and cannot be refunded.

I was in ******* for a relative's wedding on May 31st, 2025. Unfamiliar with parking rules in ******* I assumed that parking next to a venue, with one other car parked, would be okay, since it was 1am. After 30 minutes in the venue I came out to a boot on my car. I didn't see any signs in the vicinity, but was later shown a sign at the end of the row, but I didn't drive in from that direction and even after someone showed me, I thought it was for the four handicap parking spaces. I can't believe I had to pay $75 to get the boot removed. Most cities will issue a ticket, not place a boot if you are illegally parked. (I didn't know I was illegally parked.)I submitted a complaint with a photo showing no signs displayed where I was parked, but it was denied: "Weve investigated the circumstances in which your vehicle was immobilized. After reviewing the evidence, we have determined that your vehicle was in violation and have closed your dispute case." They certainly didn't review it much, or they would have seen that there were no prominently displayed signs along the row of parking! I am disputing via my credit card company. EPS is in the business of providing free parking "enforcement" to business by placing the signage about the parking rules in inconspicuous locations and then preying on unwitting patrons who aren't aware of the rules. This is intentional deception with the intent of extorting money from patrons, and it needs to be stopped.

On April 25, 2025, I paid $10.95 to park for two hours on an Empire Parking Services lot at ******************************************************** (receipt #*********). I returned to my rented car after the first hour and found a boot on my car and a sticker on my windshield with a phone number. I called the number and, after a short discussion with the attendant, discovered that I had mistyped my license plate number upon purchasing **********************. The attendant said that the company would refund the booting fee if I just paid at and submitted a dispute online. I paid the fee and submitted a dispute with the receipt number (confirming I had paid to park there), but the company rejected my dispute and without explanation. I believe that the attendant lied to me and, after reading myriad complaints online about this predatory company, believe that Empire boots aggressively without showing any regard or understanding to their customers.

My vehicle was booted in a parking lot that I was lawfully shopping and eating dinner in. I had to pay for the boot to be taken off. It looks like the parking lot is doing this to multiple customers without their knowledge. The fee was $75 to get the boot off. I would like to get reimbursed but the company refuses to do so. I would like assistance to get reimbursed.

On May 31, 2025, at approximately 11:55 AM, I visited ************************* to pick lunch up. I parked in the lot next to the restaurant, believing it to be designated for customers. After finishing picking up the food and returning to my car, I was shocked to find a boot placed on my vehicle. A small sticker on the boot directed me to call a number, and when I did, a representative arrived and demanded $75 in order to remove the device. I was forced to pay the fee on the spot, even though I was a legitimate customer of the restaurant. This felt extremely unfair, predatory, and deceptive. As a paying customer, I should not be subjected to such treatmentespecially when there was no clear warning posted. I believe this practice is unethical and designed to trap unsuspecting patrons.I am requesting a full refund of the $75 I was forced to pay and urge the Better Business Bureau to investigate this matter to prevent similar incidents from happening to other customers.

      Business Response

      Date: 06/09/2025

We have reviewed the incident that occurred on May 31, 2025, near *************************. According to our records, the vehicle was immobilized due to a violation of posted parking terms. Signage is present at this location indicating that unauthorized or unregistered vehicles are subject to enforcement. Those spots are reserved for patrons of ************************** Customer parked in said spot and went to another business at the plaza.
However, after the customer submitted a formal dispute through our internal process and provided documentation confirming they were a patron of the restaurant, a full refund of the $75 immobilization fee was approved and processed as a courtesy.
