Joined Crunch fitness on a promo deal. .04 to join and free days in April. Signed up for $9.99. iPad stated that amount and confirmed. Employee stated that amount and confirmed. Crunch bait and switched to a higher fee and different program. Clear FTC violation and deceptive business practice. Refused to allow to speak to a leader. So, I have been using Crunch Fitness as a membership for 3 months last summer. However, when August 2024 came around, I started college, so I could not continue using Crunch's service.I was dorming in college without a car, so I could not cancel in person, additionally, I heard that I was not to cancel in person because Crunch would charge random fees, so I chose to cancel online. I also did not have a commitment plan, so I should not be charged fees, especially because I paid $17 a month instead of $10.00. So, I decided to cancel online instead. When I went to their website, they had no option to cancel online, despite ******* claiming they did. When I decided to call, they told me I had to come to the gym to cancel, which I could not accomplish. When this happened, I decided to switch my payment method to a method where they would not get the balance, and then I would not use their service so they would terminate my membership. But instead of terminating my membership, they switched my payment method back to my credit card themselves and charged my card again. They not only did it once but multiple times. Then I got an app called Scribeup that would put all my monthly services in one place, and I would be able to cancel them from there. I canceled my Crunch membership using Scribe up, but instead of terminating my membership, Crunch switched my payment method back to my credit card and charged it again. After this, I decided to close my credit card and get a new one because if I was not using their service and they were controlling my payment methods, then Crunch Fitness was stealing my money. So, I replaced my credit card and blocked Crunch Fitness from contacting me. Then, on March 9, 2025, I received an email from a debt collecting account, ***************************, claiming that Crunch Fitness is demanding ****** in collections.Initial Complaint

Crunch Fitness offers a "free kick off training session" for any new members. After becoming a new member it was requested from the staff upon every visit to sign up for the training program. I have plenty of experience and dodge not need the assistance but was tired of being asked every time. I agreed to do the one free training session. They led me over to a computer to "sign some liability waivers" the we proceeded to the free training session. The employee scrolled through all of it saying how it wasn't important and that it was just liability for incase someone gets hurt. He never once mentioned that I was signing up for over 800 dollars of training sessions. When I reached out to the main desk to ask why this was done they responded by saying it doesn't matter and if you try to not pay it we will send you straight to collections. They said this while laughing. I have text communication the the trainer mentioning that I did not want to continue training.Business Response

Crunch Fitness refuses to cancel and stop billing me for my membership even though I have gone in person and requested cancellation. I went in person and told them to cancel my membership and send me an invoice for the remainder due. They refused and told me they would continue billing me. They said that they could not and would not cancel until I was brought current and paid an additional month from today's date.Initial Complaint

Crunch Fitness charged my debit card, without my consent or knowledge, $624 for a service I did NOT sign up for Nor signed for! I went in and asked for a refund and they submitted a refund request but it was denied. I called into the gym Sept and Oct to pay my daughter's membership fee of $22 because she is in college and just graduated high school and asked if I could pay it. However, on November 26, 2024 they charged my card $624, without my permission! I went in to resolve the issue and requested a refund because that money was needed to make my car payment. The personal training manager said it was a charge for personal training sessions my daughter signed up for in April of 2024. However, she canceled the session in April because she was in high school and did not have a job to pay for those sessions. The Personal trainer Manager saw in the system himself, while I was there with him, that it was cancelled but he said another session was created the same day. I shared with him why would she cancel one session and sign up for another, if she was canceling because she couldn't afford it? I said that was done fraudulently by someone on there end and the trainer told her he was going to cancel it. Furthermore, they should not be harassing nor allowing high school students to sign up for sessions. They do not have jobs! They are taking advantage of teenagers and messing up their credit. I told the personal training manager that my daughter did not receive any of the training sessions because she canceled it and I did not give them permission to charge my card $624, I had no idea this was going to happen. I want them to give me my money back and cancel these sessions from my daughter's account like the personal trainer said he would do! She just graduated high school in May, does not have a job and we can't afford these charges! I have tried to contact their **************** but there is no number and no one is helping me! Crunch Fitness is taking advantage of peopleInitial Complaint

I initially signed up for a basic membership for $14.99/ mo.at the fitness center. when received a confirmation email I asked the manager to correct it, he mentioned that he would put the request to the back office to make corrections and the difference would be refunded back to my credit card. but I am still getting charged $29.99. they have a new manager, and according to him I never signed up for membership at the club but did it online and they cannot refund any charge. (I even asked them to review their security camera to see if I was at the club to sign up, but he refused to do it) I filed a dispute with my credit card, now they charge me $79.99 again on my card. per the manager, they do not have any option to make adjustments at the local branch, and their back office is in *******. I even tried to call their corporate phone number but no one answered. I need my refund back and to cancel my membership.Initial Complaint

On June 2nd I cancelled my membership with Crunch Fitness, paid the additional month as requested. June crunch fitness attempted to draft my account again for an additional monthly fee causing a $29 return check fee. On July 19th Crunch Fitness processed a $27.24 transaction against my account after my cancelation. I am requesting a refund total of $56.24. Once the membership was canvelled Crunch was no longer authorized to charge my account.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: The invoice attached is not my acount. As previously stated my account was cancelled and a payment was drafted from my account after the cancelation fee was paid. I am requesting a refund to the charge and the returned check fee insured from the unauthorized charge.
Sincerely,

I signed up for a membership at the ****** location and had a encounter a month in with one of the personal trainers where he borderline harassed me by referring to my glutes in a inappropriate way and using sexual terms when doing my "kick off" session and proceeded to tell me to break up with my boyfriend and other inappropriate comments. I then kept telling him no to signing up to do personal training with him but he kept forcing me to and was asking why my boyfriend wouldnt let me and other comments, which led me to sign up for the cheapest option. Later I spoke to others and they validated that I was harassed. I called and spoke to the PT manager and asked to cancel my contract with him which they did very easily but told me i wouldnt get a refund for the money i paid but that i can use it whenever. Fast forward 3 weeks later where he kept messaging my personal number through his personal phone, which i didnt give him my number, and asking when i will come in and I did not reply so he took it upon himself to falsely check me in on 4/20/2024 at 11:06 am, while i was at work, and charge my account so he can get the credit. He had tried this in the past but i caught it and called and canceled the session because i did not make them. He then went on his Crunch brand instagram that is public and said i was crying wolf and that i lied because i cant afford it, which i have screen recorded. I spoke to the ** multiple times how i was uncomfortable with the personal trainer having access to my account and how uncomfortable i felt going there and asked if theres any way i can cancel my membership earlier and he kept and keeps saying no because being borderline harassed and stolen from isnt a good enough reason for them to cancel my membership. I dont even want a refund I just dont want any of them having access to any of my personal information, therefor i just want my membership canceled.Business Response

A worker located at the ********************************* fitness location has fraudulently charged me for training sessions numerous times. I haven't attended any of these training sessions and it began after another member began an altercation with me and then I ended up getting told to leave and that my membership was canceled.Initial Complaint

My son visited Crunch Fitness- ****** location on a free pass. 3 days later I found out somebody got him to sign up for a contract knowing he is under age and they are now telling me they cant show me the contract that he sign and want me to pay money to get him out of that contract. Per Crunch manager they dont ask for ID so they thought he was 18. I have try to email them speak to them and they keep blocking my emails and wont send me the contract my son sign. They are getting contract from minors without the parents consent forms.
