This is the worst place to ever purchase a vehicle. They always make an excuse and then say that they have a third party working on it. NOT MY PROBLEM!!!!!!! We purchased our vehicle from a private seller through Autotrader for n 4/8/23. It is now 5/22/23 and we still do not have our tags, title and registration. Im called back 2 weeks ago, 1 week ago and today and the agent acted like she was calling their titling department. Then I got hung up on. I called back and this person again lied and said they are working on it. Mind you, we paid almost $3000 for our tags title and registration. My brother passed away and we have his memorial this weekend coming. We live in MD, and ** law states you cannot drive a vehicle with 30 day tags out of the state. So what do we get from autotrader, HUNG UP ON!!!!! This whole deal has been messy from the beginning. From the botched gas station that passed the vehicle with worn out rotors and brakes and we had to replace the passenger side brake light, which in total cost ** over $1500, to their sorry a$@ customer service. DO NOT EVER PURCHASE FROM AUTOTRADER!!!

Way too difficult to use. Private Seller Exchange (PSX) is forced onto you. Dont ever want to provide my ID and banking information to some site. It is a scamming heaven. Never send your car title to anyone except to the states DMV. Reputable title exchange should be performed in person.

Caveat Emptor (Let the Buyer and Seller Beware)AutoTrader business practice, AKA Private Seller Exchange is another way to get Seller's and Buyer's sucked into a Hold Hostage Agreement while asking for all the Private Discloser Buyer's information and financial ability regarding a "Cash Transaction before I could proceed. I was interested in purchasing a vehicle with a cash offer. AT's website posted the Seller's Price but did made it near impossible to make an offer, in addition they suggested scheduling an appointment to view the vehicle which.#1 I scheduled the next day at 9:30am, I never heard back a confirmation from the Seller. I contacted AT and the online representative told me the Seller had 72 hours to respond. AT Phonet Rep, stated He said they have no control of the time. #2. I asked the AT Rep., what services am I paying AT's $199.00 Fee for, AT's Rep starting mumbling, we purchase the Seller's vehicle and Sell it back to the Buyer with AT's Cost added. AT ends up the worthless middle man and collection a fee from both parties.#3. When I asked politely for AT's Rep's **** he abruptly hung up. Before you sign up for this worthless service, read the contract!

Thank you for the taking the time to post a review. We take these very seriously and review each one. After careful review of the event, it Autotrader's position that we do not dictate or place restrictions on the seller on their availability to schedule test drives. We encourage the schedule be worked through amicably and at the convenience of both parties..

BS!AutoTrader made a BIG mistake purchasing This company called TRED. Read their reviews and it confirms my complaint, customers waiting for their title weeks after they paid TRED, asking for all your bank information and withdrawing the funds from your account, taking their fees out. Charging the buyer additional and seller additional fees. AutoTrader claims they are not a Car Dealer. Their claim is they purchase your vehicle then sell it back to the buyer to protect Nothwest parties. Thats how they make their money.Dont be fooled, thats a smooth way to make money, theyre a Dealer.

I purchased an auto ad listing on March 1 for $49. The ad was formatted terribly, with no pictures showing up and all my text re-flowed into a giant paragraph. I was asked a bunch of invasive identity verification questions (last four of social security number, upload drivers license and a utility bill, a request to have the car re-inspected, and much more) which I did not realize I had opted into. By March 4, my ad still did not have any photos because the pictures I had upload were awaiting approval. I contacted Autotrader multiple times to see why my ad was still incomplete no website in 2023 is this slow-moving and clunky. I never received a response. On March 6, I inquired to see how I could void this entire transaction, as the service fell well short of my expectations. I never heard back. On March 8, I deleted the listing, and called to see about getting a refund of the $49 fee. A pro-rated refund, discounted for the 7 days that the ad was live (even though it had no photos for most of that time), would have been fine. One person told me the maximum refund, per policy, was $20. Another person told me I couldn't get anything because it was past the 24-hour forgiveness period after I had purchased the ad. I called my bank to dispute the credit card transaction, but I was told that the legal agreement I had agreed to was so airtight and binding that the bank had no grounds to dispute the transaction. Well played. If only Autotrader had put as much investment into making the website/service better as they have in airtight legal agreements and extremely creepy and invasive identity verification steps. This site is a poor classified service with non-existent customer service. It is almost breathtaking to see a modern company that has so little interest in customer satisfaction. Avoid.

Thank you for the note *****. I see your credit card was credited $20 on 3/10 for your photos showing up incorrectly. If you have additional questions, please give us a call at 866 AUTOTRADER to discuss.

After taking out an ad on February 6, 2023 for $49.00, I have received at least 12 email inquiries using the Autotrader.com contact link, "Is your x** still available for sale". Every one of those inquiries were from scammers, who wanted to buy my car at the asking price and without actually seeing the car. The offers were all variations of "I'll send you a cashiers check and some person will pick up the car." Several offers included an extra $200 if I would take the ad down. This is a well known scam that uses forged cashiers checks that not only fails to clear and the scammer walks away with your car, but the unsuspecting victim can be charged for attempting to cash a forged check. Over the two weeks the ad ran, I did not receive one legitimate inquiry on the car. As I see it, Autotrader.com is simply a business platform for scammers to steal their customer's cars. I will never use ********************** for any auto sale.

We were contacted by Autotrader to start a "FREE DEALER PROGRAM" by ********************* (sale rep from autotrader.) I told her I had no interest but she convinced me that there is no obligation, no charge for one month. I even told her do not say its "Free" and then send ** a bill afterwards. She said "No we wouldn't do that" and I started the free dealer program for the month. After a month she came back and asked if I wanted to continue. I told her I had no interest because it did not work and she left. Fast forward a couple months we now have an invoice for $1400. Is is a complete scam. We never signed any agreements and now have collectors contacting us. This is the WORST company to deal with and BEWARE OF *********************!

Autotrader.com is only available to US based shoppers and US based dealers. With a ******** address, no one named ********************* working here, we believe this was from another merchant. We also do not offer a FREE DEALER PROGRAM. This is likely for Autotrader.ca, of which we have no affiliation.

In the ****************, selling a car by owner while still financing it is almost impossible. TRED made this seamless. Everything was perfect all the way through, with customer representatives helping me along the way at every step. I really don't understand the negative reviews. I probably wouldn't sell my car elsewhere ever again.
