      Principal Bank is very difficult to work with. As a traveler RN, I thought this would be a good option for my 401K retirement. But as soon as my assignment ended, my account was closed. So I lost any potential matching that I was eligible for. I then attempted to transfer my funds out to another bank. But principal requires paper forms. And it has taken over two months and the money has still not been transferred. However I was charged to fee for the automatic rollover/closing my account, Which I didn't want. And now I will also be charged a substantial fee for taking my funds out. Their fees are very high both for fund management and for any type of moving money and the customer service is poor. I would not recommend this bank to anyone.

      **************** is useless, if you make a mistake signing-in or don't have the speed of flash to use the two factor authentication you wont have access to your money, they will not help you one bit since there is no other way to authenticate your self. They deserve no stars and hire a better customer service that can actually help people.

      We were given the option from our employer who closed down to take a cash distribution. I have jumped through hoops for them, yet when you call **************** you get different answers on when to expect the distribution. Just had a representative laugh when I told them I had been told something different by each rep. and I would be reporting them to the BBB. I may or may not see my distribution. They really need a **************** overhall.

      I cant even give them one star. They were awful. They had all my information and did not type in the bank account numbers. My check sent back. **************** was terrible. Not understanding not going to work with the customer at all. They acted like they did nothing wrong but like the bank said they did not take checking account number in. They were rude disrespectful, and did not care.

      They deserve 0 stars. I reached out to them after the first withholding to stop any contributions and attempted to recover the funds immediately. I was told to wait to verify that no further withholdings were made before requesting a refund. I reached out to them today after receiving a statement that verified that no additional withholdings were made and was told I was not authorized the refund as 90 days had passed. I was never sent the forms to be reimbursed and they are in essence withholding the funds they shouldnt have received in the first place. It is irrelevant that my employer set it up, when I stopped it they continued to expend the funds they already had rather than doing what they were supposed to do and refund it upon notification. I am now expected by them to ********** them keep what they werent authorized to have from the first notification. This type of business practice is illegal and should be investigated. This is outright fraud. Stay as far away from Principal as you can get.

      These people are not lying. Principal is the WORST 401k company I have ever witnessed. My husband can never pull out a hardship withdrawal without the constant back and forth with the agents. It's as if they try NOT to process disbursement to people of their own money, for the companies financial gain. If you can avoid dealing with Principal, avoid it like the plague.

      absolutely appalling customer service and procedure's. I requested a review for a loan and after seeing their ridiculous interest rates on my own savings i called in to cancel. While doing this i dealt with the rudest supervisor ever. this ladies job is to deal with customers yet it was immediately apparent that she didn't care on bit about the customers needs or concerns. after being told they wouldn't cancel my loan i was told it was being direct deposited and that was why i couldn't be canceled. two weeks later after calling to find out why i hadn't seen the deposit yet i was informed that there was an issue. so instead of contacting me they decided to send a check un-known to me by normal mail. AND TO THE WRONG ADDRESS! i was told "this is the policy" what kind of response is that?!!!DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Just look at their rating!

      **************** are very rude! They sound like they HATE their job as soon as they answer the phone. It was my first time trying to get a 401 k rolled over, and the whole call just stressed me out more. I screwed up and tried to get a check redone but Ive got to wait 10 days to call and get it reissued. Never in my life have I had such poor customer service over the phone.

      I worked with ********************* at ***** ************************** operating under Principal Financial Group out of ******** *********. I was misled as to where my money would be allocated. After reviewing my online account I realized that my funds were allocated into Socially Responsible mutual funds, serving Mr. ******* personal best interest/****** while I was lead to believe these funds were being held in secure accounts. I also had money withdrawn from my separate checking account after I indicated that I did not want that to happen.I attempted to resolve a number of issues directly with **************** and his superiors and was left without remedy or acknowledgement of the wrong doing. I have lost money in this relationship and asked for them to make the situation right, to which I was told the best they could do was reimburse the management fees that I incurred. I am still out many dollars and have asked for clarification twice now through him and his superiors and have only received a wish you the best with a zip file of all my signed documents. I have been left without explanation or remedy.

      I think they are crazy to try and control other peoples funds! I called in to try and get my money from the account because I saw that my balance had decreased! They told me depending on the market my money could either go up or down. I told the lady *** never seen it go up, but I sure have seen it go down! Someone please investigate them this is ridiculous! I should have never signed up with them in the first place!
