Shredit came to my house to pick up hard drives, paper, and other items for shredding. I was overbilled $3628.80. The local center agreed that I was overbilled, and the money was refunded to my Shredit account. 10/30/2023, I was told "Upon checking your request with ticket #********, please be informed that as of 10/30/2023 your request is already in the final process. However, this will still take 10 days to process."11/20/2023, I followed up, because I show a CREDIT of $3628.80 in my account, but I still haven't received that credit to my credit card OR even in a check to me. The response, "This email is to inform you that I will follow up on your refund request under ticket number ********, and you will be informed after the request has been completed." I asked again about the status, but I have not heard. This has been more than 10 days. It should be fixed or Stericycle should pay the interest I would pay for carrying that balance since September 14, 2023.I paid $4605.54. Stericycle/Shredit owes me $3628.80. They should pay interest like I would pay my credit card as well.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is mostly satisfactory to me. I would like the company to take steps to prevent this from happening in the future. They did not reimburse the interest I had to pay to carry this on my credit card; however, at least they finally refunded my money.

When I signed up, I was told by the guy that signed me up that he was my local guy and any issues I had I could contact him. My first bill came and was as was initially promised. Second bill came and had charges that I was told would be waived. I called "my guy" and he said he would look into it. I received no further contact from him and he would not return any calls or texts. I received another bill but had not had any service. I called customer service several times and put in disputes. I was told that someone had performed a service in September (this did not occur). When I signed up, I explicitly asked that someone call when they were coming because my business door is always locked and I am not always in the office. I was also told that if I was signed up for emails, I would receive an email prior to. I received no email and no call. After many hours on the phone and being told that my account person would call me, I finally received an email a few weeks later. I was told that he would re-do my contract to not include the extra charges. He stated the following in an email: "I will reach out and make sure the driver calls 3 minutes prior to arrival. Also I will look into why an email was not sent to let you know about your upcoming services. " I emailed him 3 times and called regarding the invoice for the supposed "service" which never occurred. I received no further communication once I signed the new contract. I went ahead and paid the invoices rather than deal with the headache. My online access stated next service was 11/17/23. There is a spot where you can put "notes". I stated to please call as the door is kept locked. On 11/17/23 I went online again and the date of service had changed to 11/21/23. At 2:30 on 11/17/23 I heard a faint knock at the door. It was Shred It. They did not email and did not heed the note to call. I was told there is really nothing they can do as it is always different drivers. I am requesting my contract be cancelled.Business Response

4/3/23 (I, ******************************* for *******************, contacted Shred-It/ Stericycle to shred documents, signed authorization & set up auto payment. 4/18-23 no show, rescheduled for 4/28/23- work done. 5/24/23 received past due email, to contact them ASAP to resolve. 5/24 contacted rep, to let them know payment was set up at signing contract time. I was told to disregard the Past due email. 5/27/23 received a bill, paid it with a check because sales rep ******** ***** ************) said obviously something happened and auto payment didn't happen. I was given Ref. # ******** to get a refund of the extra payment of $387.64. No refund as of 8/7/23, called *************) and they said the *** is 2 weeks. As of 9/20/23, no refund yet. I reached out to them, they told me "it's being processed and expedited". As of 10/23/23, no refund yet. I reached out to them, same story... "It's being processed and expedited". It's 11/15/23, and still no refund. I emailed them at Customer-************************************ and I received a typical response "currently being assigned to the next available rep"... support #********.Business Response

Shred it has wrongfully charged our office without pickups and we have tried to cancel or terminate business with them and after several calls and no answer they have sent us a contract of 5 years where we have not even agreed or had any knowledge of it. They change pick up dates even on closed days. and charge as of a pickup and service. even provides us with fake pick-up slips with signatures that we have not signed. we want to end services and we cannot they told us we need to pay early cancelation fee of over $2000 we have been a client since 2021 . Attached is initial proposal in no place do you see a 60Month contract. later Sep 26 2023 we get this contract that we never received. ****** is not even an employee at this office.Business Response

Their web site says they will shred personal papers for a fee of $75.00 per 96 gallon tote. You must pay in advance with a credit/debit card. I paid $75.00 on November 10, 2023. Was sent an email with the confirmation number of *****. The email stated to drop off the papers at ****************************** ***** ** *****. Monday through Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm. I drove 52 miles one way from my home today (November 14, 2023) to be told they dont take personal papers at that location. I called a number that they gave me and got no answer. I called a number listed for the corporation and was told they do not know that this service was offered in the state of ** by their company, yet their web site says they do and they took my money. The only solution I was offered was to drive the their location in *************, **. That is 97 miles one way from my home.Business Response

I have been using Shred It / Stericycle for over 15 years. I have been happy with their service as far as picking up and servicing of the account. Where I have had the problem is billing! I have been over billed and it took me a year just to get a partial refund of $1,400.00. They still owe me ****** + Interest. I even had to get the ** attorney general involved and that is how I got the partial refund. They lied to the ** saying they refunded it all. This dishonesty and all the lies saying they would refund my CCard for a year has made me want to never use them again. I would never trust them with my CC number! Double billing is a serious issue for me but not for them when they have your money! Don't trust them! They have all the supporting documents but can easily provide them again. I am simply seeking the balance plus a years interest.Business Response

*********************** and Recovery Specialists over paid Shred it. They deducted $542.64 from the *********************** checking account and then they received a check for $542.64. As you can see in the pdf file I sent it shows $-542.64. I have called and spoken to ****** on 9/21/23 with a ticket # ******* inquiring about the refund and I was told that in 2 weeks that would be refunded to the *********************** checking account. Then on 10/18/23 I spoke to a **** who informed me that it takes 1-2 billing cycles to refund money. Then on 10/31/23 with Ticket #0******* I was to receive an email regarding what was transpiring with the refund. On 11/6/23 I spoke to ****** who transferred me to an account specialist supervisor named *******. When I spoke with ******* she said she was going to have it expedited with there accounting department and that she would give me a return phone call. I received no phone call from her. I called today 11/10/23 and spoke to ***** at 8:58am and he again informed me that it would be 2 weeks. I asked for his supervisor and he transferred me to Gabe. **** informed me that it would be 2 weeks to receive the refune. I informed **** this is unacceptable and this needs to be resolved TODAY. STERICYCLE, **** did a job for ******************** LLC and was paid twice in the total amount of $3,464.20. ******************** LLC is trying to get a refund in the amount of $1,732.10 which has been going on now since September 30, 2023. Each time STERICYCLE, *** is contacted they say that there will be a rush to issue a credit to the Credit Card. As of November 7, 2023 this has not occurred.Business Response

back in march of 2023, i had shred -it come by my place of work and pick up 77 boxes of documents that needed to be shreded. i made a credit card payment of $1112.18. later, the church recieved an invoice for the same amount, and they paid by ******. so i have been asking for a refund on my credit card for months. the apparent company..STERICYCLE, asked if i could sign up and make an account so they could easily have this done, and here i am, still waiting, calling them every day or two, with the same answer..my manager knows about it, it is being processed ..still no progressBusiness Response

On February 28, 2023 Newport Borough requested to cancel services to Stericycle/*******. On March 28, 2023 a container was billed for regular service and then charged the same day for removal of the container.The March 10, 2023 Invoice Date had Total Invoice Charges of $148.88 with an Account Balance showing a remaining CREDIT of $230.47.The April 10, 2023 Invoice Date had Total Invoice Charges of $222.50. After the credit is applied, there is a CREDIT remaining of $7.97.Stericycle is claiming that Newport Borough owes them $726.63. Newport Borough has been requesting the account to be zeroed out in order to close the account since June, 2023. Every month I, the secretary, have reached out to the company with phone and/or email communications as to the status on the closure of the account. Every time I have been told that the account is under review and have been given a Reference #.Today, November 1, 2023, Newport Borough received an email stating our account is past due and should it remain delinquent and unpaid, it will automatically forwarded to collections; A.R.M. Solutions for reconciliation.There has been no resolution since June, 2023, which was 6 months ago, which is not a good business practice.Resolution is to zero out the account so the account can be closed.Business Response
