This transaction occurred on June 19th 2023 at 1:44 EST. After getting several.calls from Afni I responded to a customer service representative. He stated that I had a debt for ****. I informed him this debt had been resolved. I proceeded to inform him of the steps taken and his unprofessional response was, "Ididn't know what type of plan would give me something for free." He was very aggressive and rude. I explained that I am on military orders and I am not responsible for the remaining cost of the contract agreement including the remaining cost of the device if paid on for 12 months. This was resolved in September of 2021. Now Afni has begun calling attemptingto collect on an illegitimate debt. I believe this collection agency has violated my rights as a consumer in the false, predatory, and aggressive means they're using to collect a debt.Business Response

******* made me aware that they could not find my account. I was informed by an employee in an instant message that they could not find my account, my services were cut off, and I wasn’t sure what happened with my account. Months later i am now receiving harassing calls. I informed afni to please contact ******* and speak with the employee that informed me that my account couldn’t be found, if not the account would have been paid. ******* from Afni stated i should have paid a bill that was sent through the mail. My response for ******** was “would you pay for a bill you were told they couldn’t find?”. If an employee tells a customer they can not find their account and the customer moves onto another company, it is then the companies fault to train their employees, it is not the customers fault. I would like for ******* to do an investigation on which employee told me my account couldn’t be found, so i couldn’t pay a bill, so i moved onto *******.Business Response

the balance of $1,493.92.
The account is for services established on November 25, 2016,
until ****** considered the account delinquent on November 27, 2019. The billing address associated with the
account is *** ********* ******* ********* *** ** ****** ** *****. Afni mailed the initial notice of the account
on or about July 27, 2022. On September
11, 2022, Afni furnished the credit reporting agencies with notice of the
account. On February 7, 2023, Afni
received a written letter of dispute from the consumer. On February 10, 2023, Afni mailed the
consumer verification of the debt. The
consumer spoke with an Afni representative on February 20, 2023, and the consumer
again stated a dispute on the account. Afni ceased communications on the account. Afni then received another written letter of
dispute from the consumer March 20, 2023, and Afni continued to cease
communications on the account.
On June 8, 2023, Afni received this complaint. In response, Afni ceased communication and
initiated an investigation. Afni has
attached copies of the account billing statements to this response; these are
provided as validation of the account. To
address the consumer’s concerns, the subject account has not been purchased by
Afni. Afni received the account from ******
and acts as an agent on behalf of ******; therefore, the consumer would not
have a contract with Afni. As previously
noted, Afni mailed the consumer verification of the debt and ceased
communications on the account with the consumer. Furthermore, Afni has attached
copies of the account lease agreements as validation of this debt. Afni will send a request to the credit
reporting agencies to remove the account from the consumer’s credit
report. Please be aware that it can take
the credit reporting agencies anywhere from 0 to 60 days to update consumer
credit reports. Afni has no control over
how quickly the credit reporting agencies update consumer credit reports. However, this does not mean that the account
is not due and owing, simply that Afni will no longer furnish the account to
the credit reporting agencies. Afni
trusts this response has addressed the consumer’s concerns, but if questions
remain, or if they would like to discuss the account, they may contact a
