It's typical to write reviews when something goes wrong and there seems to be no shortage here. However, I wanted to share a positive experience that made a huge difference in the life of my wife and me.
In March of 2023, our home caught fire at 3:30am. An electrical fire started in our attached garage and spread to a 3-season porch and our kitchen. We escaped safely but learned that morning that we would be out of our house for a year while repairs and restoration was performed. This is when you find out the value of all of your payments for home owners insurance. For years, we had thought we were over insured, but I can safely say that this is an impossibility. The costs of materials and labor to do the work that had to be done is staggering. As the victims of this, the impact cannot be described and having an insurance company to manage the process and keep all of the moving parts doing their thing is monumental. Our adjuster from Country Companies, Nick M**** and his supervisor Reed O*******, managed our claim with constant updates.
We had only wanted that our house would be returned to a pre-fire state. We never looked at the claim process of an opportunity to make major changes. Our kitchen, that was only 5 years old, was put back to the EXACT state it was in, with custom-made cabinetry that matched 100% identical to what we had. And in watching the restoration process, the contractors cut no corners, everything was handled as one would hope. There was an obvious feeling of trust between us and our adjuster and that made the nightmare of a house fire so much less traumatic, when all you want is to get back home.
We wanted to give credit when credit is due and I cannot stress enough that when the worst happened, Country Financial had our back and returned us to our home as promised.

If I could give them a zero, I would. We have been with them for years and not once filed a claim. Our toilet backed up in our basement and flooded the entire central part of the basement. It so happened to rain heavily the day after this happened. We had an expert and our city inspector come out, and both stated this was a house issue and that the rain drains were completely clear. The plumber filed a claim for us with our insurance, and they sent over their "assessor." He came into the basement, took three pictures (didn't even go into the central part of the basement to actually look where the damage came from), walked out, and told us the claim was denied. We contacted his supervisor and asked for another assessment; we sent over two professionals' notes on the issue to the supervisor. They told us they would not reassess the basement. They said they would review the papers and got back to us more than a week later, telling us it was denied, that there was no toilet issue and it was rain damage. How in the world is it rain damage when nothing along the exterior walls got wet?! Absolutely a disappointment of a company. Steer clear!

Country Financial has an insurance adjuster by the name of Jennifer D******** whom is completly off her rocker. In attempting to find out if a vehicle was repairable or deemed a total loss, she deflected by continuing to call me combative, hostile, amongst many other adjectives. Once she felt she was done, she proceeded to hang up the phone.

This company should not be in business. I have never encountered so many unprofessional and poorly trained people in one place in my entire life. The adjusters are told to keep claims low so they will make up "fake" measurements to say damage was not caused by your accident and they will not cover it when police reports and all other criteria say otherwise. Basically you pay them to not cover you and you end up having to pay your own damages. The service is horrible - if you can even call it that. They will pass your file around to dozens of people with no action - with the hopes you will become exhausted calling and trying again and again to get your claim paid. This is their scam. Do not engage with this company.

Following a 21 percent rate hike I was told was based on "inflation", I was lied to that my rates were industry standard. After following up, I expressed that I don't want to pay for their corporate board's raises in order to increase my cost of living.

I am deeply disappointed and having received a bill just 2 days before my payment was automatically deducted from my credit card on file containing a 25% increase in my premium with no other advance notice and no explanation as to why? I asked my agent for an explanation and was told it's all over the news on TV and I should Google insurance rates. This does not answer the question why I was not provided with an explanation prior to my rates going up. All I got was a bill with a 25% increase a couple days before they withdrew payment. It's also worth noting that this increase came the same month I added a credit card to my account for automatic withdrawals. After 30 years I'm shopping for a new insurance company. It's clear I'm just a number to them and loyalty means nothing.

We had had insurance for over 20 years for term life. We were notified 3/2024 that my husbands coverage was going to increase nearly 10x. We reached out to our agent to contact us. Waited 3 weeks with no response. Went to his office Michael Scott Flora, IL he was not in office but would give message to contact us in regards to see what other options were and cancel if none. Was told by office staff Rachel H. she could stop the payment from coming out and cancel this policy. We again never heard from Mr. Scott and payment indeed came out and policy not cancelled as promised. At this point contacted the company directly to get this resolved and cancelled and asked for refund of the April payment. This was all via email and was assured we would receive a refund. Did receive cancellation letter but no refund. Contacted company via phone and would not honor refund that needed to speak with supervisor and would call us back within 24 hours. This was on Friday 5/17/2024 and have yet to receive a call back and this is Tuesday 5/21/2024. We no longer will have any type of dealings with this company!

My mother had a Long Term Health Care Policy with this company. She was diagnosed with early onset dementia, and missed one premium payment due to her illness. After 23 years of never missing a payment she was immediately canceled. I attempted to have her policy reinstated and it was denied due to her medical history. Seems like a total contradiction of what she was attempting protect herself from. Country Financial no longer offers Long Term Health Care Coverage and has no compassion for their clients. Beware when doing business with this company, if you attempt to reach out to their corporate office they will put you on hold and hope you hang up. Typical call center very sad.
