Turnbull Law took out the first payment on December 21, 2022 of $381.00 even though I told them to hold off because I didn't think I wanted to do the program due to the fact that I saw so many red flags on BBB. They took the money anyway and I told them 2 or 3 times I don't want to continue program, stop immediately.They still tried to take ******* payment out. I signed up with Turnbull Law Group in March 2020 to resolve debt. At the time I was told I could have a tax penalty for any resolved debt. I was told this would be only in the first year when I agreed to the settlement. I made an agreement with payments with one of my lenders in 2020 and did not receive a tax liability form for that year. When I made the last payment in 2022 I received a 1099C for the tax liability for that year. I was clearly told this would be in the year I made the agreement which was 2020. In 2020 I could prove Insolvency and was not working. In 2022 my tax situation changed and now I am being hit with a $4000 tax bill. This company is completely misleading and took my money under false pretenses.I was charged over $8000 dollars for this settlement. The company should cover the taxes or work to get the 1099C rescinded and reissued for 2020 when the actual debt settlement was reached.Business Response

Again this offers no resolution or compensation for my loss due to the false information that I was given. On 12/1/22 i spoke with a Turnbull representative and terminated my debt consolidation program with them. I was told my remaining balance in my account would be sent back to me in **** business days. On 12/19/22 Turnbull withdrew $1,551.00 out of my checking account overdrawing my account $991. I called and spoke with a representative and was told that their records show i canceled the program but it was never filed on their end and was told that I cant get the money they withdrew for another **** business days and that they are not responsible for all the overdraft fees that will occur due to other bills coming out of my checking currently. They also told me that they dont have the ability to wire the money back that they withdrew after i terminated the program.Business Response

For 2 years I have been paying $250 per month never missing a payment enrolling my consolidation of 2 credit cards to be paid off in the amount of $13,400 during that time I have received multiple calls from the discover credit card stating the card was still incurred interest and not stopped I explained I consolidated with Turnbull multiple times along with calling Turnbull on this matter. They were only paying the Chase and charging me interest. To date I still owe on chase and I am now in a judgment with the Discover card. I called Turnbull multiple times prior to the judgment & told them about the calls from *************** told me they need more money from me monthly which I cannot afford with 2 young children especially in this ************ agreed on $250 I was asked to pay on 2/22/22 by ******************* $30.00 which I did for Litigation Answering.On Both credit cards which alarmed me because I had been paying for 2 ********* consolidated so I didnt have this problem. Also on 8/9/21 ************* asked for $30.00 for Litigation Answering. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, I am still not satisfied l. After receiving another judgement letter from ******** and still no contact from ******************* I reached back out to turnbull law group for a response. I finally heard from ******************* through email on 11/7/22 giving me 3 options that I am dissatisfied with. In the proposal agreement he states I have to make a payment to ******** by Friday 11/11/22 in the amount of 307 dollars or they will continue to seek judgment. Giving me only 3 days and Friday being a holiday. I have made it clear that I can not afford an extra 307 dollar payment on top of my 250 I am making monthly to the debt consolidation company which is turnbull. There has always been money in my dedicated account to pay both companies and this matter should have never even got this far if I was reapresented properly from the beginning. Thank you

Turnbull Law Group was originally contacted about two years ago to help my husband with a credit card issue that was being handled in ****************** Court. He was being sued by Giant Eagle for a credit card debt. In order for Turnbull Law to take his matter and settle it I had to put all of my debt in their debt repayment plan too. Needless to say, Turnbull didn't settle or pay my husband debt with Giant Eagle he ended up paying the debt because he was told his wages were going to be garnished. Now, I am being sued by **** and Associates, LLC who have acquired all of my credit cards that were put in to the debt consolidation plan with Turnbull Law and in order to settle the debt they continually ask for more money to be added to the plan outside of the original agreed amount. Turnbull Law Group has had adequate time to use money that has been paid into the paid to reach out to the creditors and negotiate a settlement seeing that all of my credit cards were not in default when they were entered into the plan.Business Response

Upon reviewing her account, we contacted ******************* on October 18th, 2022, to address her concerns. ******************* has seven accounts with ************** The Giant Eagle account was already in legal status and could not be negotiated through debt settlement. When negotiating the remaining debts, we need to have a certain amount of funds built up in the dedicated account in order to obtain a settlement. While building up funds, and distributing payments to three of the accounts in structured settlements, the other three of her Comenity accounts took legal action. ******************* was asked by the attorney if she had any additional funds that she could provide to speed up the negotiations process. This supplementation was recommended, due to the rest of her funds being tied up in other settlements. We have escalated these accounts for further review by her attorney. We will continue to look into this pressing matter and will keep ******************* informed of all updates. I completed my program early. On 9/21/22 my last and final settlement was paid. I have over $6,274 left in my account and Turnbull is still drafting payments from my bank account. I have called numerous times and receive a different answer each time. *** asked to speak with a manager and am never transitioning one. I was told that they cannot stop the drafts as this will delay my graduation packet sent to me. I cannot continue to have them drafting money from my account when I no longer owe any debts! Another draft was taken out today, 10/14/22 for now I will have a total of $$6,793 sitting in the account. I originally told the remaining funds in my account would be refunded via ACH 3-5 business days after I completed my program once I called in to request the refund. I have called and have asked that the drafts stop and monies refunded. It is 10/14 and they are still taking money from me. Program completed on 9/21!Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I was assured that I would have my closing packet by the 30th day after all creditors have been paid. Today is the 30th day and I have not received any packet NOR have I received an update. To make matters worse, there are another 3 drafts set to be taken from my bank account. I have made multiple calls and was given incorrect information from the customer service complaint contact person. She directed me to **************** and they, in turn informed me that Turnbull makes the drafts, they are only the dedicated account in which funds are help to pay creditors. Why is this company continuing to take drafts from my account when I do not have any payments to make? It is now 30 days today and still no resolution and worse, money still being taken from me. Each of the reps continue to say that they cannot stop the drafts but all money will be returned. This does NOT help me now as I cannot afford to continue to have money drafted from my account as my bills need to be paid as well. This was the whole purpose of completing the program early yet monies are still being drafted. I am going to make a formal complaint to the ** if this is issue is not solved immediately.

They will not give me the funds I had left over when I terminated account. They took all fees out first before the settlement. I was told by three different customer service reps that the money in there would be refunded to me as all settlement fees were taken care of prior. When I spoke to the last person to find out where my money was she stated they are going to keep fees for a settlement that had already been paid. I should not have any fees coming out of it I want my monies fully refunded the. I signed up with Turnball through an agency thinking that were going to take care of my credit debt, I pay them $440.00 a month, they havent contacted any of my debt collectors and it has been a nightmare for almost 4 months now. My money is just sitting in their account, and they have the nerve to be charging me $7,000.00 which I didnt know until the very end. So I dont know if they are just collecting my money to get their money first before they will be helping me. They told me I would be debt free in 4 years, one debt collector told me they hold off until the fourth year and pay these companies the bare minimum, I was not **** of that.
