On 4/26 i Canceled my debt program i had been a member of for 4+ years due to the inability to renegotiate the unaffordable payment. When closeing the account i was assured all my funds would be returned. I HAVE GOTTEN 0 dollars of ******* back. I am permeant partially disabled individual with limited resources and funds. This is completely unacceptable they say mi going to get my money back and they send the funds too settlement fees. Which they don't claim to take in all there adverts and commercials. The attched email shows the funds leaving the account well after i had closed it. ALL THE PAYMENTS WERE STILL SENT AND THEY REMOVED THE REMAINING 400 and change too a SETTLEMENT FEE ........ WTF stop these bad characters from harming other Consumers. I'm a decorated retired local law enforcement officer hurt while serving my community. They are hold $490 of my money. All of my debts have paid. I requested a refund in April yet they are still holding my money for no reason. When I asked for a supervisor they put me on hold for 40 minutes then told me it would take 24 to 48 hours to speak to a supervisor!! Really?! In January of 2020 I was attempting to get a debt consolidation loan. The company I applied with denied me the loan and then forwarded me to Turnbull as a possible resolution. In the beginning I previously had no late or missed payments even up until that time. They told me to stop paying my creditors and they would begin the negotiations. Immediately my credit tanked, accts were closed, interest and fees stacked up. I was not warned any of this would happen until I called back to *********** and Turnbull to find out what was going on. All I got was apologies, etc. I even received a law suit from one creditor! I was paying $590 every two weeks for the last almost 4 years. Now towards the end of my plan I reviewed my account to find I had a balance of $5,594.26 in my deposit account and I only owed that plus or minus $5 on my final payment. They had not started the process of 'graduating' my acct until I called. They still had/have payments scheduled to come out of my bank account. They said they 'like to keep the accounts open' for incidentals? I asked they reduce my withdrawals to $5 until 'graduation is complete in 30 days' and they reduced them to $10 'just for a month'. I would need to call back next month to ask for a reduction again...WTH! I asked for a ledger of deposits and payments and found the following: Beginning Debt: $64,501 End Debt (after fees/interest added) $70,013.26; Deposits:$56,615; Payments to creditors $35,965.44; Fees as noted in the ledger: $11,658.22 +/- additional fees. There is also an ending withdrawal of $548. It is the only withdrawal and I have no idea what it's for. There were a total 16 fees charged for the seven (7)creditors and monthly fees of $9.95. The math is not mathing. Deposits made $55,615 - Debt Paid $35,965.44 - Program Fees $11,658.22 leaving $8,991.34 (not sure where that money went). Last but not least the last ledger I rec'd is much different from the 1st just weeks later.Business Response

I began working with Turnbull Law Group in 2019 to resolve credit card debt. I received settlement agreements for several credit cards of which they were paid as per Turnbull Law Group. For a credit card agreement settled in January 2020. I received court documents stating that they wanted to garnish my wages in August of last year (2022), for an unpaid debt for that same account which had been paid according to my agreement with Turnbull Law Group. Not only did I not hear back from Turnbull Law Group, but 3 weeks ago I received court documents stating that my wages were going to be garnished, and in fact they started garnishing my paycheck as of two weeks ago. I was finally able to speak to an attorney who spoke to the Judge who told him they would stop the wage garnishment if I agreed to a payment plan. ??????? This is for a debt that was already paid according to Turnbull Law Group. In reaching out to there customer service, I was told that all agreements made with credit card companies are verbal. Again, ???????? How can this be? If there are only verbal agreements then a credit card company can say there was no written agreement and therefore no debt has been resolved theoretically speaking; and therefore, any and all settlements I have completed run the risk of the same exact thing happening again. This is extremely scary as It has been 4 years that I have paid Turnbull Law Group, I have supposedly settled 9 debts with 2 remaining, however no written agreement between Turnbull Law Group and the creditors exists. I am terrified that not only will my wages continue to be garnished, but every settlement I have completed up until now runs the risk of being garnished in the future. This cannot be legal. I am reaching out to BBB for help. I have paid Turnbull Law Group over $22,900 in the past 4 years.Business Response

Was not refunded remaining funds after closing program. Imposed fees took all but $4 out of 475. Attorney called following program termination and said Id be getting the 400+ returned. I was not refunded the amount reported to me.Business Response

I opened an account with them in Nov of last year and the bi weekly payments were $140. They reached a settlement with one of my creditors for an account that has a balance of $1946 and the settlement was $973 and Turnbull charged me over $500 for this settlement. According to Turnbull it would be paid with 7 payments of $140. According to the rep ********* I spoke to yesterday Turnbull has only paid the creditor little over $200 as of today when they already took a total of $840 from my bank. The same month of settlement I received a letter directly from the creditor offering a settlement of a little over $700 which is much less. Now why is that? I was better off settling directly through them. They also stated they would give me all of my money back if I decided to cancel my account at any time. I got into a financial bind in the beginning of this month due to car trouble and needed to cancel one of my scheduled bi weekly payments but it was too late so I had to contact my bank to do a stop payment. After the stop payment went through Turnbull reached out to me via email and text stated they needed my authorization in order to continue deducting my bi weekly payments again. Well I was waiting until I had the money in my bank before I authorized another payment but on 3/15 Turnbull ended up taking the money out of my account without my authorization. I called and they said there was nothing they could do and told me to reach the bank. I called the bank and the bank stated Turnbull never reached out to them to do a stop payment. The payments are still scheduled! This has to be illegal. Also Im still getting harassing phones calls from creditors so I asked ******* has Turnbull reached out to the creditors to let them know they are representing me and he said no they will not contact the creditors until I have enough money in my dedicated account. They are frauds. and steal money and make false promises. I want a full refund of $840.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I responded to the email I received from ********************* from Turnbull and of course he never responded. I ended up trying to call Turnbull to resolve this issue and get my refund. They just repeated the same thing over and over and told me they could not give me a refund. They only paid my 1 creditor $275 and kept the $500 fees for the settlements. They sent messages stating that they cant take money out my account without my authorization but continue to take my money anyway and put the blame on me and the banks. That makes no sense. Please provide a full refund so we can be done with this matter.

My name is ***********************, I spoke with a rep regarding debt consolidation to which it seemed like a good route to take considering my financial situation with my debt spiraling out of control. Freedom Debt Relief and Turnbull Law Group has been deducting money from my bank every two weeks. I ended up having a significant amount of money on hold with Freedom Debt Relief and Turnbull Law Group while they negotiate with creditors. Freedom Debt Relief and Turnbull Law Group said they negotiated with Navy Federal but nothing was paid to them as the account is where it originally was. I have asked Freedom Debt Relief and Turnbull Law Group several times why dont they start with the creditors with the least balances and I was told they go in order as debts come in, this is not true. My biweekly payments changed with Freedom Debt Relief and Turnbull Law Group as a result of them charging me for double accounts. I questioned several time why the amounts were different until I was able to see myself that it was three accounts of mine that had the same account numbers, balances etc. I have terminated my services due to being misled by the initial rep I started with. Also on 02.02.23 I called and was rudely spoken to by a rep. I asked to speak to a manager when I felt like things were escalating. The rep was not listening to me when I was trying to tell her I was being double charged and I think it was bcus I had duplicate accounts. She was very rude, she would not put a manager on then said its no managers there just leads. I called client support to see what money is due back to me, that **** was rude she did not want to give me her name and said they dont give out names and was very dismissive. I recorded the conversations bcus I plan to complain to whomever I can reach on the executive team, BBB etc. Freedom Debt Relief and Turnbull Law Group took all my money did not reimburse me. I would like my money refunded and would like to be contacted by someone in leadership. I will be trying to reach someone by other measures in the meantime. I have reached out to Turnbull SEVERAL TIMES with DIRECT QUESTIONS only to be responded with nothing but FLUFF... EMPTY WORDS... NONE of my questions were answered and all of them state to call the office. I call the office and get the same response... but this time the person hung up on me! I pretty much stated EXACTLY what I communicated in email SEVERAL TIMES. The audacity to request that I "come up with" an extra $3000 within a month (when I reached out SEVERAL TIMES regarding a Creditor letter) to "settle" an account is not only duplicitous but ABYSMAL at best! If I had an "extra" $3000, I could negotiate with the creditor MYSELF!!!!! So they're charging me ************ ******** FEES" when I can be IGNORED FOR FREE! Hello: I have been trying to close my accounts with Turnbull Law Group for the past week. I spoke with a representative named ******* who told me that I would receive a confirmation within 24 hours to go ahead and close my account. I did not receive any correspondence from them, accept to employ them for their services. I phoned them today February 9th 2023. I spoke with a woman named ***** who threatened me through the context of the conversation. I had to try very hard to get connected to a supervisor. ***** lied to me about being able to be connected to a supervisor, so I could speak with them about who my lawyer is and if I would have secure contact with them through a known phone number. I was unable to get the name of the lawyer resenting me, or the status on any of the accounts that I had registered with their system. I eventually got connected ********, the supervisor was very rude to me and questioned why I was asking for a verbal statement of what he forwarded to supervising attorney. He also tried to artificially create interference through the voice receiver. All I wanted was to have some simple questions answered about my account with them - who was representing me, how would the representative contact me, why my account wasn't closed, what accounts do I have enrolled with them, what are the status of the accounts and which accounts are holding up the process. ******** then tried to go in an unprofessional direction and talk about my marriage with me rather than these simple questions I needed to have answered. I do not understand why a law firm would go in this direction and why it would take me over 60 minutes to speak with multiple people to get these answers. I have over $1,000 held in an account with this firm. I would like to get it back so I can advocate for myself rather than be conned out of my hard earned money. Please help me in any way possible. I have never been treated this poorly by a company, especially one that I am pay for services.Business Response
