Signed up for this program in 2022 to help with debt. I was promised the program was worth it to consolidate debt by making small monthly payments and allowing them to negotiate my debt. I had one large account with one main and kept being told to hold off as they typically will settle these accounts in large ********************* for much less then what you owe. Well to my surprise I get slapped with a lawsuit. I followed all the rules and reported it and sent everything in and followed up with the attorney. The attorney failed to ensure he had everything he needed and didnt negotiate at all. Was slapped with a judgment. Then Im told they will negotiate for monthly payments. Asked to sign agreement and update payments to allow more funds. Did that. They continued to keep telling me more money was needed. I kept checking with my attorney as it wasnt adding up and the amounts he was telling me were different then what turnbull was saying. Finally hear back and he tells me he received an email from ******** saying all was good. Not even a month later I receive a citation to collect information from a previous employer. I reach out to my attorney who tells me turnbull never made payments and now Im in breach of the contract and their trying to garnish my wages. I did everything I was supposed to and now Im at risk of having my wages garnished. The payment was $212/month and I have over $800 in my dedicated account, so please tell me how you didnt have enough money? Ive since been told to add $140 to initiate payments. Did that. Few days later now you wont make payments bc your $12 short?! I called a manager a week ago, I still havent heard back. Seems like they pull numbers out of their ****. I could have made payment arrangements with this creditor on my own, bc I actually would have made the payments. Shame on them.Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to ******** Freemans concerns. We have reached out to ******** to address this matter by email, but ******** asked not to speak on the phone.
A review of Samanthas program file shows that One Main filed collections with the court before Samanthas dedicated account had the funds available to negotiate the account through the normal process. The attorney determined that adding $390 to her dedicated account over ten months would be enough to satisfy the account. ******** did add $200, but the creditors offer required the $390 to accept. The attorney was able to get an extension to allow time for the remaining funds to be added to the dedicated account.
As of this date, One Main is now receiving payments to satisfy the agreement. We would encourage ******** to reach out to her point of contact with any additional questions.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:it includes Blaintant lies by turnbull. They have fabricated and twisted things to make themselves look favorable, how can you deny my allegations with the proof In the correspondence that was submitted.
1. I did not refuse a phone call to discuss the complaint. I received an email that they were aware I filed the complaint and wanted to speak to me. My response was that I had already tried to talk to them but due to the lack of a response from a manager, I was left with no choice but to file the complaint. Its been weeks and Im still waiting for the so called manager to return my call. Turnbull also admitted they messed up by advising me they wouldnt collect fees on this account.2. I was told I needed $390 either via a one time payment or 10 transactions. I did set up the transactions and the person that did it told me it could be the $40/month drafted between the biweekly payments. Done. Sent proof it was done. Followed up with attorney who assured me everything was fine. Not once did the attorney or turnbull state they didnt have the funds and werent paying, they let it go months for one main to use a citation for me to call and inquire about it for you to then realize you dropped the ball. In fact, the attorney read me an email from the bill to him stating that all was good.
3. now suddenly you need more money then $390. I still made the deposit of the additional $140. Still no payment made, then more money, $12, not until you received more money for the third time did you finally pay 4 months of missed payments.
in all, you messed up. The attorney and turnbull dropped the ball by letting it go months and having ill communication between their own parties (attorney and turnbull). This has been a nightmare and the point of this complaint is for you to take ownership and make sure you dont continue to let your customers down who come to you for help when their already in a financial hardship, you should not be making the hole bigger, and causing more stress and anxiety.
next time try an apology and give examples on how you will fix your short comings, not a placing the blame on the consumer and twisting facts to make yourself look better. Your response said all consumers need to hear.
Sincerely,
******** *******Initial Complaint

One of my credit accounts went into litigation, to which one of Turnbull's attorneys was assigned back in May 2024. After 2 or 3 emails, all communication with the attorney stopped. I tried various attempts to contact her for the status of my case & received no response. I escalated the case on 2 or 3 occasions and still nothing. I still do not know the status but am receiving correspondence from the creditors law firm.Business Response

We had been with Turnbull law group for 48 months. They settled only a few accounts charged us over 9000 in fees we have been sued by 3 companies and have had our bank account locked and all our money taken from our account. We contacted the authorities for the companies and they had never received any contact with Turnbull. After months of paying ****** a month they settled less than 20 thousand dollars in debt. We had our discover account completely written off by the company. Turnbulls attorney contacted us twice in 48 months, and never helped with any of the legal issues we had.Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to ******************* concerns. We have reached out by email and by phone to the contact information we have on file and we spoke with the co-client on August 26, 2024. *********************** and a co-client enrolled with Turnbull Law Group for debt settlement on April 5, 2020, with $46,715.00 in debt across eighteen accounts. The agreed monthly deposit was $798. During enrollment two more accounts were added, resulting in a deposit amount of $810 per month, and the full amount deposited during enrollment was $24,270.00. These agreed deposits were modified several times during the program enrollment, as only 24 of the scheduled deposits were funded in full, some were split across the month, and 23 deposits failed. Some of these changes resulted in loss of settlements due to funds shortage.Turnbull Law Group debt relief program is a self-pay program, as the service provided by our team is to negotiate a lower balance to pay during the enrollment period. During the enrollment, eighteen of the enrolled accounts were negotiated, several of these more than once and a total of 33 settlements were negotiated in all. Of the settled accounts, nine were paid to satisfaction, during enrollment. A full ledger of all payments made can be obtained by contacting Finxera, the bank that drafted the monthly deposits and sent the payments on Tamaras behalf during enrollment.
Turnbull Law Group, LLC will only collect a 27% settlement fee once we obtain a settlement, the client approves the settlement, and the first payment is made to the creditor. No additional fees were collected by Turnbull Law Group beyond those outlined in the agreement signed by the client. An accounting of all funds is available by requesting a ledger. The amount of fees collected during ******************* enrollment was $10,727.82. Fees were only collected once per account, not once per settlement.
We encourage *********************** and the co-client to reach out to the point of contact with any further questions.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
While some of the transactions failed they were paid in full during that month. Turnbull was paid every month. The amount that was agreed upon. As we have taken over the accounts that were not settled we have contact all the parties involved many of them started Turnbull never contacted them. We made our payments however upon checking my *********** account had not been paid on for 4 months. My Discover card was completely written off. And the two accounts we were sued for Turnbull did not contact either of them. I still stand by my statement Turnbull is a predatory company that is not upfront about their fees. They pray on people that are all ready in a situation where they financially struggling. We paid our payments and there was only one month that we paid ****** and that was because we had both gotten Covid and we both missed 2 weeks of work. During the time we were with Turnbull we were NEVER told that we had lost a settlement on an account. Once again ********************** is twisting the facts. If there was a rating less then an F they would deserve it.
Sincerely,

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to *************************** concerns. After a thorough review of the account, our findings show that the client made multiple draft modifications throughout the program. Draft modifications of any kind can put a settlement at risk. We understand this can be frustrating; however, when the client chooses to modify their deposits, a disclosure is read entailing any risks to the settlement. Additionally our records indicate that an email is sent to the contact email on file, when any change is made to the file.

I am rejecting this response because:
The statement that Turnbull made is incorrect, We made 1 change and that was during Covid, at no time did we have any statement red to us. And we only made the change by 1 week. I am slowly digging my way out of this mess and I wish that other people would be aware of this scam. They are a predatory company and they should be investigated. If I could give them a lower score then an F I would.

I am the provider for my family & work full time. My father, mother and son have had extensive medical issues resulting in significant unexpected costs and I had to use credit cards and loans, in part, to pay for their care and related expenses. I sought assistance from Turnbull Law Group who promised that if I hired it, it would immediately reduce my debt to a fraction of what I owe by negotiating with creditors. It further promised monthly withdrawals from my bank account would be deposited into a bank account that I would own and control and those funds would be used to pay off the debt. I submitted seven (7) debts/creditors to Turnball to settle: 1. Prosper $11,794; 2. Prosper $24,835; 3. *********** $667; 4. Citicards $758; 5. Citicards $7,343; 6. Discover $8,145; 7. Discover $1,438. Turnbull then took automatic withdraws from my bank account every 2 weeks in the amount of $606 to deposit it into my account and charged me 2 fees for the withdrawal $25 fee and a $9.95 fee. The total fees Turnbull apparently charged for automatic withdrawals was $84.70 ($25; $9.95 x 6 = $59.70). Turnbull also withdrew $5,454 from my bank that was to be used for settlement. Turnball settled only 1 account (Prosper - $11,794). It agreed to a debt of $13,250 (not the balance of $11,794). The final settlement with ******* was $6,872. It then paid itself a fee of $3,184 which it took from the amounts collected from my bank. Turnbull claims that the total debt reduction for the Prosper account was $4,922, but the reduction from the enrolled balance of $11,794, after taking into account ********************** settlement fee and other withdrawal fees it charged, would be at most $1,338.50 ($11,794 Enrolled Proper balance - $6,872, Settlement - $3,184, Settlement Fee - $25 fees $59.70 fee of $9.95 for each automatic withdrawal). The total amount of debt reduction was only $1,388.50. I contacted Turnbull on 8/1 and asked for a refund and to cancel the contract. It has refused to refund me.Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Kanokporn Havercamps concerns. We have tried to reach ********* by email and by phone beginning August 16, 2024. Kanokporn enrolled in Turnbull Law Group for debt settlement on March 18, 2024, with $59,295 in debt across seven accounts. Kanokporn agreed to deposit $606 biweekly into the Dedicated Account, and a total of $5,454 was deposited during the time of enrollment. Our negotiations team was able to negotiate one of the Prosper accounts within the first three months, the settlement was authorized and the first payment was made to the agreement of $25. During the time of enrollment, ******* had added interest per their policy, bringing the account from the enrolled balance from $11,794.00 to $13,250.95. The fee collected for the negotiation service provided was calculated as 27% of $11,794.00, the balance of the account at enrollment.
Turnbull Law Group, LLC will only collect a 27% settlement fee once we obtain a settlement, the client approves the settlement, and the first payment is made to the creditor. No additional fees were collected by Turnbull Law Group beyond those outlined in the agreement signed by the client. The $9.95 monthly fee is collected by Finxera, the bank which services the dedicated account, and is outlined in the agreement signed during enrollment. An accounting of all funds is available by requesting a ledger from *******.

I am rejecting this response because it in no way addresses the complaint, including but not limited to its false promises, its untimely and inadequate services, and its excessive fees. Additionally, its allegation that it tried to contact me about the BBB complaint and I did not respond is yet another untruthful statement - I timely responded to each one of its emails and retuned a call to Turnbull and left a message with the account specialist. There is clearly a reason Turnbull is rated F by the BBB and I wish I had known that before I had contacted Turnbull. I only hope others do not make the same mistake and rely upon Turnbulls false representations.

I enrolled in Turnbulls debt consolidation program in September 2023. Every month, they have been charging me $334 that was supposed to go into an account in my name to be used to settle debts. I checked my account and portal when I heard that others had issues with them. My account is -$334 and I have had 0 debts resolved. Theyve been taking my money every month and not doing what they said they would. Meanwhile, my credit score has gone down ******************************************** collections, as they told me to stop paying on them. Im so frustrated and overwhelmed. Thank you for the opportunity to respond to ************** concerns. We were able to speak with ****** on August 12, 2024, and her concerns were discussed. During that conversation, ****** stated that her file should be closed and the request was fulfilled on that call. A follow up email was sent to ****** with the authorized settlement letters, and ****** was offered a ledger emailed by *******, the bank that processes program deposits and payments to creditors.
Regarding ******* concerns about the negative balance in the dedicated account, payments to settlements are scheduled based on projected deposits as agreed upon by the client at enrollment. The scheduled deposit for the month of June 2024 was missed in this account, and therefore the funds were not available according to the original agreement.
We encourage ************************* to reach out to the point of contact with any additional questions.

I acquired services with Turnbull Law Group for their debt negotiation program on 6/15/22. At that time I had 7 enrolled accounts with an additional one added it in the next year. The program was going as expected, I was paying biweekly payments into the dedicated account, and negotiations were being made. At the time of my departure from the program, I was under the impression that 6/8 accounts were negotiated and in the process of being payed back, and that the other 2 were about to begin negotiation. In June of 2024 I decided to end my services because it was getting too expensive and hard to keep up. Almost simultaneously as I ended the seervices, I was hit with a lawsuit from Bank of America one of the creditors. To my surprise, this was one of the accounts that was negotiated and I had made 13/20 payments according to my Turnbull account dashboard. I reached out to Turnbull on the matter. They first let me know they were no longer representing me because I left their service. I understood however I needed proof that this account was actually being paid. They had let me know it was negotiated and paid from 6/23-6/24 with 13/20 payments done. They showed me a letter on their letterhead stating this information. I asked for more proof than that and they have ceased to respond since then. Bank of America has said my last payment Im the account was in 5/2022 which was right before I turned my accounts over to **********************. So not only do I need to know where the money for that account went, but also the ****** I paid over the course of the 2 years in the program. Not to mention when I pulled their services all my accounts were set back to exactly what they were when I started the program, as if that ****** meant nothing now that I am not in the program. I need some help and answers. Thank you.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
I can see the settlements look like they were made. However the ledger from the bank is just something typed up showing amounts and where they should be paid. It does not prove they were paid. I can type that up. When I asked multiple times now that I need more proof showing my money was going into that account, again I am left with silence. Bank of America is denying getting paid and I am being sued. So no I do not accept that as a legit response indicating those accounts were actually getting paid the settlement amounts. I need to see a real bank statement that proves they were getting 500 monthly from them. Also the 3 other accounts.

I have tried dozen of times to get in contact with the attorney ******************* (Attorney for Turnbull Law Group) who is handling my upgrade account as well as customer service at **********************. No one has called me back and this issue has been going on since April. The last time I heard from ******************* was back in April and he had reached a stipulation of settlement with the other attorney firm ( **************** regarding my Upgrade account. He sent me an email to sign and return the document to him so he can process it to the courts. I did send it back to him and after that I have not heard anything. So I don't even now if he actually sent it to the courts to be processed as I can't get ahold of him but if he did I would assume I would get a copy of that. I kept on calling Turnbull Law Group regarding this matter and they kept transferring me to another **** and that **** kept saying I would get a call back within 3- 5 business days. I uploaded the document to show them that there is an agreement that has been made and payment was to start on May 1st and as of today no payments are being sent to the other Attorney Firm. When I did speak to a customer service person at ********************** they said that the form needs to be sent from *******************. I then called the other attorney firm and they even reached out to Turnbull Law Group and have not received a call back either. I am afraid that the other Law Firm will garnish my wages and I have over $2,000 sitting in my account with **********************. I need to have Turnbull start sending the $200 per month agreement immediately. I thought this debt consolidation program would help me - This is only making matters worse. Contracted with them to negotiate 2 debts. They negotiated only one and said they would negotiate the other later. They did not negotiate the second one. Served with litigation papers and am expected in court. They then call and told me, without calling the debtor, they could negotiate for about 65% of the original debt, and the service fee to do so would be 35% of the debt, and my payment would increase by several hundred dollars a month to cover this, though I had been paying for the past 10 months for both debts. The alternative option I was given when I rejected this negotiation was to withdraw my debt from their service and go to court and defend myself. They in no way provided the service they were contracted to do, did not negotiate with the debtor, and now my credit is worse and I have a court date. When I withdrew the second debt so I could figure it out on my own as they were no use and had already ruined my credit, they refuse to reduce my payments. I pay $343 every 2 weeks for a debt that I was previously paying less than $500 a month for. They did not adjust my payments with the removal of a larger debt and have refused to do so.Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to *********************** concerns. After reviewing the account and speaking with ****** on July 15, 2024, we were able to adjust Tricias deposits and to provide an update on when the program would be completed.
We do recognize the stress that comes with dealing with litigation, the account in question had a current balance of $27,347.84. The fee for legal services at Turnbull Law Group is 27% of the balance of the account at the time of enrollment, as outlined in the Agreement signed at enrollment. There will be no fees collected for the account that ****** removed from the program, as no settlement on that account was authorized by the client through the Turnbull Law Group program.
We encourage ********************* to continue to communicate with the point of contact, with any additional questions.

I have been with Turnbull for 21 months, in that time period I have received 2 levys and a wage garnishment from creditors within my program. Upon submitted the legal documents to Turnbull I never received a call back and therefore have now had money taken from my accounts. The attorneys almost never get back to you in a timely manner and they dont seem to care that you, the client, are suffering due to their incompetence. To give a word of warning for any considering their program, I hope you have back up legal counsel- youre going to need it.Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to *********************** concerns. We have attempted to reach ******** by email and by phone. ******** enrolled in the Turnbull Law Group program for debt settlement on September 2, 2022, with $27,572.00 across thirteen accounts. During enrollment, eight of the accounts were negotiated and payments were made to the creditors out of the funds deposited in the dedicated account.
A review of ********* file shows that at the time of service, the legal pages were uploaded as requested. The attorney assigned to represent the file sent a detailed message to the email address on file on February 26, 2024, outlining the next steps for the litigation process and asking ******** to confirm receipt. At the time the two court summons were received, ********* debt settlement program had five ongoing settlements receiving payments, and supplemental funding would have been needed to negotiate with the accounts listed in the court documents. These details are outlined in the email from the attorney. No additional pages were received from ******** regarding any judgment action on either account.
We encourage ******** to reach out to her point of contact with any additional questions.
