I retained Turnbull Law Group, for a debt settlement program. I understood that they were going to spread out their fees, throughout the duration of the program. I made two payments on 6/1/2023 and 7/1/2023. On 7/25/2023, I terminated the program. I requested the money back, from my dedicated account. I was told that, they were keeping both my payments that were each $284. Supposedly for fees. However, they only negotiated with one creditor. The creditor received no money from Turnbull. They claim they take the fees upfront, but that wasn't my understanding. Understand, that when people are overwhelmed with debt. It's possible to miss something. I will be having an attorney evaluate my contract for fraud. It is sad, that this company predates on people, who are down and out. There practices are predatory in nature. Thank you for allowing us to respond to ********************************* concerns. Upon reviewing the account, we have found that of the twelve accounts that were enrolled in the debt settlement program, one was settled in the two months that the client was enrolled. A total of $50 was paid to creditor and settlement fee was collected to a total of $478.20. Fees are calculated at 27% of the balance of any given account at the time of enrollment and cannot be collected until the creditor agrees to a reduced balance settlement, the client approves the settlement and then the first payment is made to that settlement. No additional fees were collected by Turnbull Law Group beyond those outlined in the agreement signed by the client on 5/22/2023. An accounting of all funds is available by requesting a ledger. My son consolidated several bills with turnbull and they have been withdrawing from his ******* account $374.00 each month since December 2022. We have sent certified letters and tried calling them several times with no response, We are at a loss as what to do. My husband ***** is the power of attorney since my son has been arrested he is handling his affairs. His debtors are stating that they have not been paid by Turnbull..Business Response

Turnbull law has been assisting me with some debt since 5/2022. On 6/8 I provided them with court summons documents. I have called 6 times, emailed the attorney 5 times, 3 calls to the attorney, and no one has assisted me. I am facing legal action from a company yet the company that has been getting paid for over a year has not helped me. This has supposedly been escalated on 3 different occasions with a promise of a return call yet no one ever calls or emails me back. I have requested to talk to a supervisor on 3 occasions yet have been told that is not possible. Not sure why I am paying a company large fees every month to help me when they will not contact me back. Asked for a corporate office number or complaint department to file a complaint and was told that could not be done. Turnbull Law Group is supposed to be helping me resolve credit card debt since 2020. I owe Amex $30K. Amex has offer numerous 50% offers including one in Sept I forwarded to Turnbull & didn't act on. Turnbull sent me 75% offer & I complained they did follow up on 50%. Turnbull assigned me a Client Experience Expert. The first 2 were incompetent & did not follow up or investigate issues. *************************** was 3rd & our first contact was better & he promised to investigate & get back to me 3 weeks ago. I've left him 4 voice messages since 6/23. I called general number yesterday & got nowhere with their rude rep & hung up. I'm applying for loan to pay ******** need info for loan application. I called these people last month and told them that I was unemployed, and unable to keep up with the monthly payment that we agreed they could take out. Upon conclusion of that discussion, I advised the ************* Representative that I needed her to close the Dedicated Account and cancel further services until I can get myself situated better financially. Today, I check my Bank account, and they schedule to draft my account again Cancel, means CANCEL. Now I will be getting behind on my Mortgage payment because they took money that I asked them not to a month ago. I asked them to stop any further drafts and just cancel it until I can get things back on track. This is ridiculous. And of course now their office is closed until Monday, and no one is available to stop this from s******* up my mortgage payment. I definitely will not be seeking them out again when I do get properly situated again.Business Response

Turnbull took over $5200 from me before I started figuring out I was being scammed for debt resolution. First, they let all my accounts go into collections which then started a fiasco of court summons by an account. The attorney sent me a letter via email and told me to print and mail it myself to the court, and debt collector. The attorney who was assigned to me initially when I signed up Aug. 2022 had informed me he had sent out letters to all my accounts that I was in debt resolution process for hardship. Then he said do not give them my contact information if they want to speak with me. All of these accounts stated they never received a letter and wanted to know who I was working with and I told them I was not allowed to tell them. After looking into how others have been scammed by Turnbull, I decided to cancel the program. My credit score took a nosedive and I kept telling Turnbull what was going on with my credit score falling to all time lows. I had $652 in my account with *************************** I canceled 3 days ago. Turnbull decided to charge $569 for fees after canceling for pretty much doing nothing but trash my credit score and force me into bankruptcy. Then they had the audacity to charge $569 for fees for no services and lies that put you in court and potentially liens on your home garnishment of wages. I demand $652 paid in full because by Turnbull--who did nothing but take over $5200 from me. In fact 2 accounts that Turnbull stated were settled are still showing up on my credit report as unsettled with late fees interest rates and in collections. I want more money from the 2 accounts that were supposedly settled over a month ago, refunded back as well. They are still showing up in collections as unpaid on my credit report.Business Response

I signed on with Turnbull Law Group and they stated that they would negotiate settlements and keep me out of '***** way' with creditors. They have not. They also have charged me huge 'settlement amounts' for settlements they claim they secured. None of this was explained to me. And on their 'dashboard' and the *** bank account they use, no one will provide me with a ledger describing what their settlement fee was, nor why the amounts keep changing. Then they add on a charge for $10 per check. Check? They don't wire the money? Then another monthly fee for I don't know what. But on the phone they did tell me the amounts of a couple of settlements yet refuse to put it in writing. They told me to call ***. They provided me with the exact same ledger. No detail. I was just told by a supervisor at Turnbull, ******, that he would email me a detailed ledger of where every single ***** of my money has gone. Doubtful. Don't do business with this company!! I will be filing complaints with every other agency possible. I want a refund of the over $1500 they have charged me in settlement agreements.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Turnbull has still not provided me with my request to see where they have spent my money on 'settlement fees'. They instead had a company called *************, ******************* email me. I called him back. He was in a meeting. Didn't hear back and a week later I emailed him to see if he still wanted to speak. During this week, Turnbull had tried to deduct funds from my closed bank account twice! I emailed *******************/************* (who according to Turnbull they hired to resolve this.) We agreed to speak on June 7th at 6pm EDT. ******************* emailed me a ****** Meeting Invitation. I told him I'd call him. I called at 5:54pm EDT. I was told by *******? who answered that **** was in a meeting and I was calling 4 minutes early and that **** would be late calling me back. He was and proceeded to tell me he had not done any research on my complaint, but he's in touch with Christopher Turnbull and has access to him and wanted to hear my story. I declined at this point. He tried to 'put words in my mouth' about what he would report to Turnbull. After I hung up, **** called back to try to get me to say we did not have a call arranged, even though he sent me a call invitation! During the last 2 days, now I am getting calls from Turnbull employees (I haven't been able to answer), and Turnbull has tried two times the past 2 days to deduct my May 15th amount to an account they know is closed. I will speak with the Turnbull employee tomorrow, carefully. I do not know what this company is plotting.

In January 2023, I called to inquire about debt consolidation and signed up with the company in exchange for services of consolidating my debt. Since last month, *****, out of my over 30 accounts, only 3 were settled and out of $3,184 only $537.23 were paid out. In the meantime, late fees were being added every month out of about 30 credit cards. At the rate the company was settling each debt, one per month, I would be worse off, my balances increasing. On May 24, 2023, I filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy to avoid my account balances from increasing, since it was taking too long for Turnbull to settle each debt in a timely manner. I contacted their office in mid April to request the balance that was in my dedicated account to be refunded to me, instead the company kept the remaining balance for settlement fees which totaled to $2,646.77 in just 3 short months. I'm requesting a refund for services that were not completed in a timely manner.Business Response

I went to Turnbull because I had issues organizing my credit cards and getting a loan. Turnbull advised me to allow them to negotiate a settlement for a smaller amount on my 8 accounts and send the payments through Turnbull, in which they would pay the amounts and it would take 12 months to pay off / settle the accounts.When I looked at the contract and reviewed it, I decided the payments and fees were going to be too expensive and I changed my mind and decided to pay my bills on my own. I don't want to ruin what credit I've already built. Turnbull has taken money out of my account in the amount of $19.00, so far, however I haven't reviewed my other accounts. I have called them to cancel, before May 3rd, when the contract was supposed to be initiated but I haven't heard from them at all and money was taken.Business Response
