I have previously filed a complaint when I paid for this false vacation club years ago and now after many years they are claiming I owe yearly subscriptions on my account and the only way they will cancel is for me to pay almost $600 for these yearly subscription fees.Business Response

The nightmare began in 2018 with a company called Adventure Getaways, LLC. At a very convincing seminar, they convinced us into paying thousands to use their expert services and connections to book hotels. We used their services three times, and none of those times did we find that using them was more beneficial than what we could find on the internet ourselves. We found them to be inexperienced, unhelpful, and totally not worth what wed paid. We asked for a refund in 2019, which was denied. Although our contract said their services are terminated by non-payment, we took the extra step of verbally terminating their services as well.Enter Island Traders. Apparently they have taken over ownership of Adventure Getaways LLC in order to relieve that company of any obligation to unsatisfied clients like me. Interestingly, **** from island Traders sounds exactly like **** from Adventure Getaways. August of 2023 they reached out to say that I owed them money for the following services they have been providing against my wishes:1. Hundreds of travel offerings via their newsletter 2. Annual dues for the service I cancelled 3. Dozens of calls and 3 bills per year 4. Keeping their offices open during COVID Meanwhile I have never signed any contract with Island Traders. I have never requested or received any of their services, phone calls or newsletters. Additionally, the contact I originally signed clearly states in multiple places: Your membership is renewable each year BY PAYING THE MEMBERSHIP FEES? It was clearly explained to my wife and I that the only step required to cancel membership is to not pay. Imagine my surprise for this dishonest company to demand a $398 separation fee within 10 days. Please avoid any companies named Funseekers, Island Traders or Adventure Getaways. The service they offer is worthless, and they offer it rudely and begrudgingly. ****, please leave us alone.Business Response

I have not used this service in over 13 years once it was cancelled in 2008. I have never reviewed any invoice and today they asked for backed dues or over 400 dollars for a cancellation. They have never sent any invoices until now.Business Response

These members utilized the services many times placing request and getting pricing. We have never received a request from these members to close/cancel their membership by phone, email, or mail. We have continued to bill, rebill, sending letters of past due accruing balances, and a Audit letter all by mail. We have as a courtesy called and emailed these members offering then current incentives to help them bring their account up to date until such time that they failed to update any changes in their membership information. These members simply need to contact our office to reach a fair settlement agreement to close/cancel their membership account once and for all!
Thank You,

Island Trader Vacations- who has changed their name and mailing addresses several times. We canceled out membership back in 7/2020. We are continually harassed by mail that we owe them money or we will acrue fees. Today, calling to cancel due to our ability to book travel cheaper than their membership I was told by *** *** that was my opinion. I was also hung up on by Miranda when I tried to cancel. We have verbally and also documented cancellations.
Today, *** *** emailed me a cancellation form and stating I would need to pay $249.00 within 10 days to cancel.Business Response

I have worked here going on 28 years and nothing has ever changed, the travel package purchased is Island Trader Vacations and we are Travel Services Inc. We have been in the same location for more than forty years only centralizing our address here to the company address as our area lockbox mail was being delayed in delivery. Their request to cancel was well after their 2020 dues came due. They was never any information provided by these members showing they were able to book for less so it was their OPINION on pricing. WE will with these members or any other members end the calls when they become disrespectful as we are help to help them resolve their issues not for their verbal abuse. These members simply need to contact our office to either bring their membership account up to date or do the more than fair settlement agreement office to close/cancel their membership. This is final!Initial Complaint

I recently received two rather bossy, somewhat threatening and demanding letters from Castaways Vacation Club. I have not received any communication or been in contact with them for approx. 20 years. We originally signed up with them, but almost immediately cancelled when we realized their services were not as advertised.
I've attached copies of the letters we received. Please do not share my address provided with them as we have recently moved from ****** ****** ***** as stated on the letters.
Thank you for your assistanceBusiness Response

The ********'s purchased in 2007 placing request and receiving pricing for those request. These members have been billed, rebilled, sent letter of their accruing unpaid balances and a letter showing an audit of their membership account. We also as a courtesy have called and emailed offering then current incentive to help these members get their account up to date but they failed to respond. We have never received a phone call, email, or mailed letter requesting to close/cancel their membership account. The Menchana's simply need to contact our office to either work our an agreement to bring their membership account up to date or they can also request a Mutual Release document to close/cancel their membership account having no further cost or obligations.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:
As I mentioned in my original response, I have never received any of the information they are suggesting. Please have them send copies, dates log of phone calls, copies of sent mail, invoice etc. and a copy of the original contract for my review. None of this was ever received. We immediately terminated our contract with them.
Sincerely,

It serves no purpose to produce copies of phone calls, emails, & invoices as any company could easily reproduce these things. The day these members signed agreeing to the terms and conditions it became their responsibility to maintain their own records. We will email a copy of the membership contract but we will not go to the time and expense of providing other information as explained above. These members can provide proof they terminated immediately as they stated and just a heads up, why did they go on to place several request for travel months after they purchase date if in fact they had cancel immediately as stated? These members simply need to contact our office to either bring their membership account up to date or reach a fair settlement agreement to close/cancel their membership through a Mutual Release document. We again are emailing a copy of their contract to them!Initial Complaint

Description of Complaint:
We received a letter from TradeWinds vacation titled 'Audit of your past due account'. We never used the account and it has been closed for 10+ years. I searched consumer complaints and BBB and found others have received this in similar situations. I called and spoke with ***** who said we owed fees from 2015-2021. I told her that's not correct and that its been more than a decade since its been closed. She got upset and told me that I signed a contract. I informed her that others have filed complaints on this with consumer reports and BBB. She said its not a scam. I told her I was not paying anything and that if it was to continue, I would engage an attorney for a cease and desist. She got mad and send she'll be sending me a contract and then hung up.Business Response

First, the ******** were still paying their annual fees in July of 2014 then in 2015 said they would have to renew at later date as family things going on and could not renew right then, they were told unpaid dues accrue and would have to pay up to current at time of renewal and on 2/24/17 we talked with Mrs. ******** and she said they already had made their travel plans for the year around her daughter's college so wait to renew and declined a special offer to renew that day. The ******** simply need to contact our office to either bring their membership account up to date or reach a fair settlement agreement to close their membership account. There has never been a request by the ******** to cancel by phone, email, or mail. We have been here to provide all services as outlined in the membership paperwork contract and their part of the agreement was to pay the (club) the yearly fees to maintain services which we have. Again, the ******** need to contact our office as we actively collect on all unpaid accruing fees on all memberships who have failed to renew or cancel through a Mutual Release document. The ******** had the right to sell/transfer their member anytime after one year so long as their fees were up to date and we approve the sell/transfer as outlined and agreed to by the ******** who signed stating they read, understood, and agreed to the terms within.
