I was given a ego weedeater as a gift it work 3 times then quit. I called customer service and explained what happened the agent said nothing they could do even though the date on the trimmer is less than a year old. Purchased item in 11/2022, product broke less than 1 year later. I spent weeks trying to get someone from customer service to address the issue. They would not honor their warranty. I followed up in search of an authorized repair shop - and got no response. I found a local repair shop; they explained that my model (an Ego 650 blower) has a recognized issue with its control board. He says it costs almost as much as a new unit to repair it. Online reviews confirm this is a known issue. I believe Ego passed off a number of known defective units through Amazon and then declined to honor the warranty. I ended up with a $285 piece of plastic junk, and the way they approached the whole event reflects exceedingly poor business practices.Initial Complaint

I bought my EGO push mower about 15 months ago. I went to use it recently and the battery was dead. I tried to charge but it didnt work. Called EGO support and waited on hold for 45 min before deciding to take the call back option. This was at 2:15 PM and did not receive a call back till 10AM the next day. He told me the battery was bad but needed a receipt from me to process the warranty claim. I asked what to do when I got it and he said he sent an email to me and just attach it and send back. I asked do I need to call back and he said no it will be processed and a tracking number will be sent to me. I got a copy from Lowes and attached as told. A week later still no tracking number so I called again and chose the call back method. 5 Hrs later a woman told me that she sees no claim and she would have to redo it. Im not happy but maybe this will work. (Nope) I waited 5 more day and then finally did get a tracking number but it says label created with *** which means its waiting to be given to *** to process. Today being 8 days later it still says label created I called and finally got a call back several hrs later and was told To hang on while he asked someone. After 15 min he came back on the line and said I should receive my battery on Monday. I said how do you know that if *** doesnt have it yet and he repeated himself 3 times. I said can I speak to a supervisor and he chuckled and said that his supervisor has many minutes for phone calls I said what? He said I can give him your number but he has no time to call back for 2-3 days maybe. I just said ok because I knew there was no getting anywhere with him so here I am waiting with my lawn about a foot high and no guarentee when or even if Ill ever get a battery. I purchased (and registered) an *** push-electric mower in April 2020. The mower worked well until a few months ago when (it turns out) the electrical system failed. A local repair shop offered to repair the mower ($400), but indicated that the repair might well be covered under the *** warranty.I called *** ***************** and the *** agreed that repair would likely be covered by the warranty. However, the *** informed me that any proposed warranty repair could be performed ONLY at an *** ************************* The *** also informed that the nearest ************* was about 30 miles away from my place of residence: a journey in the ****** Area that typically requires *****' each way, plus $7 in tolls. If the mower were repaired elsewhere,it would be my financial responsibility.In effect, ***'s warranty for the mower demands two round-trips to an ****************** Center.In my case, this represents 5-6 hours of time and $14 in tolls.I regard this condition for warranty repair as perfectly unreasonable. (In fairness, the *** was apologetic, but said there was nothing that she could do.) I asked that the matter be reviewed by a senior manager.However, for the last *************************************************************** vain.I should mention that the *** Warranty Policy does not reference the requirement that all warranty repairs must be performed at an ************************* Nor does the Policy indicate that, depending on the customer's place of residence, the time and expense of a trip to and from a ************* may effectively render the warranty worthless. I have a had a warranty claim open with ego since 4-22-24 Ive sent 4 emails back to them asking whats taking so long and all I hear are crickets no one has gotten back to me its definitely in warranty yet and just wanna get it replaced hopefully this can help me out judging by there F bbb rating Im thinking out out of luckInitial Complaint

Company is shady. They don't stand behind their warranty even with info provided. Gives false numbers to contact ******. (Can provide email stating which number to call) Number given goes to a scam insurance company that wants all your info.Customer Answer

Originally contacted company by phone on May 2nd 2024 after waiting 4 hours for a call back than along with email at the end of the day. Bought a mower with battery and charger. Each have 3 year warranty. Provided serial number of mower battery and charger and they wouldn't take cc receipt for their records. Defective battery. Called twice. They are not returning my calls. This is a $600 batter with a 5-year warranty. The battery is 1 year old. I don't want to do more diagnostics. I have already done days of diagnostics to isolate the issue to the battery. I simply want them to replace the battery or refund my $600.Initial Complaint

Ego weed trimmer and replacement line were purchased in June of 2023. Trimmer was used no more than a dozen times that summer. In the spring of 2024 battery failed to charge. When I attempted to redeem the warranty I was told that the battery had not been registered with the trimmer. (This is inconsistent with my 17 years of professional experience working for electronics manufacturers.) The phone representative took the serial numbers for ****************** Then told me I needed to provide the receipt. The receipt was already provided for the original trimmer warranty. I was told I could obtain a receipt from the the retailer (******) up to three years after purchase. I went to ****** and learned this is false. I found an electronic copy of the receipt and provided it via email as instructed. Called again and waited for another call back. I was then told the receipt was not attached to my email. This was a lie. I provided a screenshot of the attached receipt along with the the receipt in my next email - the third time I sent the receipt. Call again, wait for call back. I'm told the battery is under warranty and there are none in inventory. My case is escalated. Nothing more happens. After three weeks of trying to get a replacement I need to purchase a new weed trimmer. The weeds continue to grow while I am stonewalled and lied to and all attempts to redeem the warranty are somehow evaded. I can no longer wait for this company. The product only worked ten or twelve times. This item is used for a time sensitive seasonal task. Failing to honor a warranty after three weeks is delinquent and forces me to spend money on a replacement. For obvious reasons, that will not be a product from this company. No effort was made to determine why the battery failed. If it was due to a defective charger or trimmer, I could be subject to another battery failure and no recourse to replace the items causing it. I bought an Ego push mower from ****** on May 2, 2023. Within 11 months (most of which time wasn't mowing season), the mower stopped working completely. I contacted Ego 3 times before they bothered to return my phone call. When they did return the call they said the best they can do is have me transport the mower to a location in *********, over the bridge where they might be able to fix it. They also asked me to pay for this service. Ego advertises a 3-year warranty. This product broke almost immediately, and they refuse to honor that warranty in any reasonable way.
