If I could give zero stars, I would. We've had metronet for a while now, and while most of the time the internet itself is fine, the line has never been buried properly which causes regular outages. Most recently, the technician came out and found our line draped across our neighbor's fence and chewed through by a squirrel. He re-connected our service (after being without it for 6 days) but now I can't get someone to come out and bury the line - it's just laying in our backyard, waiting to be cut again. I have called "customer service" multiple times (at least 10) and I always get the same answer, "We have no control over the construction company". Our line remains unburied after MONTHS of multiple interactions with metronet. I have never been more frustrated or unsatisfied with customer service. I see from the reviews below that I am not alone in my frustration and dissatisfaction with this horrible company.Metronet

Metronet has been damaging so many properties in ****** **** NC, now they are still doing damage and have damaged the water lines, yesterday, our water was out for several hours, could not cook, bath, drink water, etc. I had to buy water to drink. When I went to bed, the water was still off, received an email to boil the water for two days before using it. This is a shame, no one in
this community wants them here.Metronet

1 starI have been on hold for 55 minutes- have spoken to one person- was promised a call back from a supervisor yesterday. No contact- so yes- I had to initiate the call ?? . My elderly mother changed providers 2 years ago- and we discovered back in January that she was still receiving a bill, paying the bill. Seriously- we have been promised a three month refund- because that’s the company policy!!!!!! Well- still haven’t even received that check. Still getting bills every month and they are deducting the monthly charge from the “credit” By the way- still on the phone now it’s been 65 minutes and have been told the supervisor “ isn’t available” ?!?!?! Was told that a check has been now issued with an extra $25 on top of the three month amount….seriously. Can someone please do some research!? Now we just have been rerouted to leave a message!!!!! HELP !!!Review fromJohn P

Metronet invaded our suburban community with its non-English speaking contractors burying its fiber optic lines. They damaged my lawn substantially and cut my AT&T cable that was out for five days. Then after AT&T was able to make repair and get their excavation contractor to make a good repair for Metronet’s damage, two days later Metronet came back and dug up the hole. Before they could totally ruin the work I was able to chase the Spanish speaking workers off after throwing their tools off of my yard. These people are awful. They should never send people to a job site in my area that do not speak English. The should not hire substandard contractors. No way will I switch to Metronet.Metronet

I'm really upset with the service and customer support. I'm going to keep this short by saying I lost my **** job because of this wireless service. I work from home and my internet was down for 5 days for unknown reasons that customer support couldn't even answer.Metronet

1 starHad called because 1gbps line was not delivering more than 300mbps wireless. The gateway they provided from Eero being the second gen Gateway Pro (not the Pro 6 or Eero 6) model b01001, DOES NOT reach more than 600mbps total. The person on the line Cindy first said it's totally normal for speeds to be around 300mbps wireless and that it was due to my devices. I informed her everything was logged off other than 1 device and that I speed tested across many single online devices and that it wasn't slow for that reason.
She then told me it was because I changed routers and that people achieve 1gpbs wireless on their EERO gateway router (which is not true). Eero themselves state that router cannot go over 600mbps wireless. She went from saying it was the router, to my devices. I had 1 device on. I had upgraded to an Eero Pro 6E which which is ABLE to deliver 1gbps unlike the Gateway Pro they hooked me up with.
She went from arguing that 300mbps is normal to saying people get up to 1gbps with router which is factually untrue per Eero. Completely contradicted her point about 300mbps being normal. Then she went into a whole thing about peak hours. I told her even at 3am, the speeds never touch 500mbps down.
The part that made the least sense is she was telling me that was normal while my upload DOES reach over 850 wireless mbps (when using the upgraded mesh Eero and not the outdated one they provided me). While upload got that speed, download never did. She grew more rude and more condescending and because of that, we are leaving Metronet for Xfinity.
We do not like being treated rudely by someone who isn't knowledgeable who was also unwilling to look any further into it. If you want a cheap plan that achieves 33% of the speed you are paying for with reasonably good uptime metronet is fine. If you want speeds that are close to what are advertised, go somewhere else. Other ISPs have been more helpful with concerns I've called about. Metronet didn't want even look intoReview fromSteve D

1 starThese people will destroy your lawn, bust your water pipes and then delete/block your posts on Facebook and Twitter to hide the fact they don't know what they are doing.
All that to install fiber where we've already had it for over a decade.Review fromTyler L

My internet has been interrupted and lost connection about 6 times in the last 6 months for various reasons. I have no kids or pets at home and the weather has never been a factor. This has become a monthly occurrence, which wouldn't be such a big deal if it didn't take them 3 days to send a tech out EVERY time. I believe it is ridiculous my wife has to be off 3 days from work every time this occurs. I called to speak to a supervisor about this issue and they tell me they have to put in form for one to contact me. Seems like everything Metronet does is very slow and obviously does not care about satisfaction for their customer base. I will be switching the next time my line is interrupted or down.Metronet

I am an attorney and a member of a church in **** ******* Illinois. We began services with Metronet to install three phone lines, one of which was an elevator phone line, which they assured me would not be an issue. The installation crew came out first and could not properly wire the building. A later technician came and supposedly finished the job. However, it came to our attention recently that they never even hooked up the phone line to the elevator. They have charged us for the service they were not providing over the entire time.
I requested a refund of the several months we paid for but did not receive service. They denied the request indicating that we were told that anything past their box was our responsibility and that it was conveyed to us prior to the start of services. That is, of course, a false statement. Obviously they did not tell me that as they were the ones that were unsuccessfully attempting to wire the building. I have encountered other false statements about the nature and availability of their services. Over the last few weeks we have had repeated outage reports and notifications. Service inquiries go without response. Be careful when considering to do business with this company.Metronet

Thank you for passing along the concerns expressed by Mr. M*** on behalf of **** ****** First Church of the Nazarene, and we apologize for any misunderstanding. On August 6, 2022, **** ****** First Church of the Nazarene entered a Business Agreement with Metronet, stating the Customer's Phone Vendor is responsible for locating all lines prior to our installation date and will be responsible for connecting the Customer's internal phone system to Metronet's demarcation point. Metronet advises **** ****** First Church of the Nazarene to contact their Phone Vendor to address the concerns expressed in this review.
Metronet appreciates having **** ****** First Church of the Nazarene as a Customer and we invite them to contact us at XXX-XXX-XXXX should they wish to discuss this matter further.Eric M

This is false. Metronet is the phone vendor and agreed to install the lines. They eventually did, but originally failed to do so as agreed. It has been many months while the line was non-functional. They knew going in that they would be installing the lines. They hired the individual to do so. Their attempt to now disclaim responsibility is dishonest. Beware of doing business with this company.

A subcontractor for metro net shows up to bury the fiber optic cable for his internet. They do not knock them n door to tell me they are here, no one from metronet has call they 811 number for call for utilities marking. They proceed to just ditch witch it in by guesstimate. They proceed to cut my charter internet. The contractors and metronet really show no remorse just say you need to get with charter and have them fix it. I understand that they can't fix another company's equipment but not to even say my bad I guess we should have waited to get stuff marked.Metronet
