Hello,
Sorry to hear that your bins were picked up. After reviewing your account, it looks as though we haven't received the payment that was due on March 1st, 2025. We have attempted to call you on multiple occasions but haven't been able to reach anyone.
Our policy is that once an account becomes past due (after the 10th of the month), we send out a call blast to alert all customers that we still haven't received their payment and to give us a call. By the third week of the month that you're due we send another call letting you know that your account will be suspended, and service will stop. It appears that your account actually didn't get suspended until May 23rd which is two months after it should have been locked.
We would be happy to get bins back to you, but we would need to receive the payment of $136 for the March, April, May quarter and then we can get your bins back to you next Wednesday, 6/11.
Thank you,
Team KCD

KC Disposal destroyed my mailbox (put indentions into the wood, broke it at the base, and ruined the foundation). I had spoken to them about getting the issue resolved. I came home 1 day after, the same post is in the ground, someone poured concrete over the base and used the old post that cracked at the bottom and dented. When I called them to discuss issue, they said if I wanted it done differently I had to do it myself. I had previously asked them not to do the work without my go ahead. I am now forced to solve the issue myself.Business Response

We apologize that we damaged your mailbox and that it wasn't fixed correctly. I spoke with ****** today and gave him a credit on his account to cover the fee of the mailbox and post that was damaged.

When we stopped our service with ******** *****, they gave our information (without our consent) to KC Disposal. KC disposal is now sending us bills and calling us about overdue accounts for a service we never signed up for and that the NEVER provided. We signed up with a different trash company when we stopped service with Republic. The bill from KC Disposal that was sent on 3/31 says it was for April, May, and June and is for the amount of 170.01. Many members of our neighborhood have also received this bill, despite not using this service. (we all previously had ******** as a service). This is fraud.Business Response

Hello,
The reason that you received an invoice from KC Disposal is because we purchased some of ********** residential customers and your name was on the list we received. The rate that we received from them was incorrect and since we have fixed the accounts that were billed out incorrectly.
The email that we received from you in April notified us that you hadn't been a customer of ********* for some time, so we closed the account immediately and the account is at a zero balance.
Thank you,

Damage to Personal Property & Refusal to Compensate On Jan. 4th, KC Disposal destroyed one of my plastic yard waste bins. I sent photos of the damage and spoke with several employees before finally getting a call from a manager two days later. She told me they are not responsible for damage to customer’s property because there is a notice to that effect in their welcome letter. Even if true, a disclaimer notice does not absolutely shield a business from property damages when negligence is involved. I’ve seen how their waste handlers slam a bin against the heavy steel on their truck to empty it quicker. This time they destroyed it. KC Disposal’s customers must be able to rely on waste collectors handling all customer property with reasonable care and prudence. — OR AT LEAST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for what they damage! It would have cost them less than $30 to replace it.Business Response

Hello ******
It has been KC Disposal's policy since 2017 that we do not replace any personal bins if it falls into the truck or gets broken. If you choose to use one, then it's at your own risk. We instruct all our customers to use the brown paper bags or bundle their branches together. Typically, the personal bins are not made with the heavy-duty material to withstand the wear and tear of weekly usage.
Thank you,

Hi ******
We understand that you have been using the same two bins for several years which could factor into why your bin broke in the subzero temperatures, as the materials wear down over the years. The materials used to make our bins are to withstand the wear and tear for many years plus the subzero temperatures we have. This is why we cannot be responsible for personal bins.
As we previously stated that KC Disposal does not reimburse for any type of personal bins for this reason.
Thank you!

I am rejecting this response because:Even IF I believed that there was any appreciable wear in my bins, any “wear” would have to be invisible, as I could not see it.
The lack of reasonable care shown by KC Disposal (or your contractors) in banging a customer’s bin on their truck with the force necessary to that kind of damage is completely unacceptable.
Sincerely,

We opened an account with KC Disposal of Edwardsville 12/6/24. The company has neglected to pick up our trash for three weeks consecutively despite the owner emailing and speaking with the KC Disposal “managers”. The trash was set out the night before each week. The owner of the property was given a number of excuses as to why the trash was left behind, e.g, #1: the “driver forgot to pick up the trash on your side of the street”, #2: [the following week], the “driver determined you had too much trash in your bin, so he drove past.” #3: “we are sorry your trash again was not picked up, it was too close to your mailbox” [the property does not have a mailbox], etc. The owner was then told they would not pick up the growing trash and told to wait another full week and was told they would offer “free bags” pick up on 12/31/24 to compensate us. Again the trash was left while all the neighbors across the street were picked up that same day. The most disappointing is that KC Disposal was quick to tell the owner of the property that he could not get his money back, even though they’ve neglected to provide the service they have been paid for. We request the BBB work its magic. The owner 1) wants his money back in full, 2) wants the bin picked up, 3) wants the service cancelled. Also, the owner has requested cancellation three times now. KC Disposal should treat paying and complying customers better.Business Response

Hello,
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with KC Disposal. We try to take care of all our customers but sometimes fall short of that. I've reviewed your account and see that we driver had marked that the bins were not out a couple times, and the bin was too close to a mailbox. Our policy is that if the bin is too close to anything that we do not pick it up so that we don't damage our customers property. The last pick-up our driver should have picked up your bin and I apologize that he didn't.
We tried to contact you after you submitted the complaint but wasn't able to reach you. The refund of $66.58 will be made on Monday so you should see it within 7 to 10 business day.
I appreciate you for bringing your issues to our attention so we can speak with the drivers on this matter.
Thank you,

I was a customer of Lawn Corps for decades. They changed names to Kansas City Composting and all was well. No issues. When I received my bill in October I sent a $200.00 check assuming no changes. I called KC Compost on 12-31 asking why I had not received a calendar of when the pick up started in January to be informed that they were no longer doing yard waste pickups and my new company was KC Disposal. I was not informed that when I paid the bill that I was no longer with KC Composting. I was given the number to KC Disposal to find out that they had been doing leaf pickups all during the month of December while I have 5 bags in my garage. KC Composting did not pick up in December after the 13th. I had no clue since I received no correspondence from either company. I asked about putting out my Christmas tree for pickup because with KC Composting, I could put the tree out whenever I wanted, but apparently I only had one opportunity to get the tree picked up which was Monday the 30th of December. I asked to speak to a supervisor and a lady named ******* called me back. I expressed how I felt this whole thing was deceptive and shady. I was told they would graciously pick up the tree for $30.00 instead of the usual $40 since I missed the pick up day. I am not psychic, how was I supposed to know they were picking up since I received nothing from them. I asked for a prorated refund and was told no refunds. I do not trust this company and frankly am disappointed in KC Composting as well. I feel duped by both companies. I read numerous complaints about KC Disposal on your website and I also read they have given refunds. This is sneaky and deceptive business practice in my opinion. I am requesting your help in getting my money refunded. I do not trust KC Disposal at all. Thank YouBusiness Response

I spoke to the vice president of the company and was told I would receive a refund for unused services. She led me to believe it would be the balance of the contract since I will no longer be using their service. I received a check yesterday for 100.00. I only used their services in the month of October, November and up until the week of December 13th. I paid $200.00 for service from October 2024 to October of 2025. The rate is $16.66 a month. The refund amount should have been $158.27, not $100.00. I am owed the balance of $58.27. I e-mailed the company yesterday when I received the check and they are refusing to refund me the additional amount. How is that fair? I responded to the email stating I would be contacting BBB again. Thank You

This business refuses to bill monthly, bills quarterly instead. But since I get paid monthly, I pay them each month, so I am pre-paying part of each invoice. I just cancelled my service with them, and they are refusing to give me back the amount that I pre-paid.Business Response

Hello ******
KC Disposals company policy is no refunds once payments have been made. My apologies if someone told you that we do not offer monthly payments. We do offer monthly payments, but we require all customers that choose that option to be on autopay. We had attempted to contact you on a few occasions but wasn't able to reach you. Then once we did you had already had new service already started.

We have been using KC Disposal since May 2022, when they went paperless, we stopped receiving a bill in the mail. There were repeated attempts for us to get the bill mailed to us as well as emailed as we kept receiving late fees for not knowing our bill was due (this is paid quarterly so not a certain date to remember). We have never received a paper bill regardless of request, and since the switch, have never gotten an emailed bill. Near the end of September our trash was missed on pick up day and so my husband checked online and saw another bill we were never sent but that he sent a check in for, so he called the following Monday because the bill was not late and our trash not picked up. They told him that the missed trash was an accident but the bill was now overdue. He told them he mailed a check, but offered to cancel the check and pay over the phone. They said that would not be necessary, our trash would be picked up after confirming the mailing date. When trash was not picked up that week he called back to be told that they had inactivated our account shortly after that call. To get our two weeks of trash picked up required a late fee, disregarding that they had already agreed to pick up our trash, and my husband asked yet again for our bill to be mailed and emailed. At the end of the billing cycle we decided to cancel services, which is when they finally discovered they had his email wrong in the account and acknowledged their mistake. They said we had a "verbal contract" and would not let us cancel our service without a 75 dollar fee. We explained that we have had to pay late fees several times due to their negligence of getting us a bill and that they had also told us we would have our trash picked up last billing period when we had told them the date of our check and that was a lie as they did not pick it up without yet another fee. They refused to cancel our service regardless of their repeated failures and poor customer service.Business Response

Hi ******
We apologize that you had issues receiving your statements. Once you set your account to receive your statements via email, we are not able to send out physical copies too. The software that we have it does not allow us to send the invoice by email and mail. It does appear that the account has consistently been late since you've had service with us so that would be why you received the late fees. Since KC Disposal started our business back in 2014, we have always billed out quarterly and the payments due on the 1st of the month each quarter. If we do not receive payments by the 10th of the month that your bill is due, then there is automatically a $10 late fee.
It appears that you did have service with us in the month of December. We have not received payment for the month of December. We waived the rest of the quarterly bill, for January and February, since you cancelled the account. We can also waive the cancellation fee.
Unfortunately, since your account was due for the December quarter and we have not received payment for the time that the service was used, we will not be able to offer any sort of a refund.
Best of luck to you and your family.
KC Disposal

On multiple occasions, most recently Friday November 15th, the company has allowed the driver to miss our trash puck up without justification. When asked why, the representative provided false reasons for the missed pick up each time and demanded $25.00 for a late pick up. I did this once, but the second time was both suspicious and unreasonable. They claimed vehicles were blocking the trash but I know for a fact that the trash was on the front of my driveway, which is 20 feet wide, without obstruction. There was also space from the driveway to the next parked vehicle, 10-15 additional feet meaning 30-35 ft. of unobstructed space to collect our trash.Business Response
Date: 11/22/2024
Hello,
After reviewing your account, it looks as though the reason our driver wasn't able to dump your trash bin on 11/15/24 is because there was a white truck, and a blue car parked on the road blocking our driver from getting to your bins. I've attached a picture so you're able to see that we can't drive down the street to your house.
On October 28th you called in to the office stating that we missed your trash on 10/25. We pulled a video, and your bins were not out. I've attached a screenshot of the video showing your house and the bins were not at the end of your driveway. That is why you had to pay the return fee for us to come dump your trash that week.
Our drivers make every attempt to access your house but if there are vehicles blocking the road then it makes it impossible to service them.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thank you,

In early 2024 KC Composting "transferred" their yard waste services to KC Disposal. At the time of the transition they said KC Composting customers would receive the same services and that KC Disposal would honor their commitments to KC Composting customers. When it came time this summer to renew the annual program I promptly paid $268. They have NOT picked up one item curbside since that time, even though they committed to coming by weekly. I called and asked why not and they could not answer. I called again and she informed me that I have to use their container or paper bags and she assumed they did not pick up because I had leaves on a tarp as I always did with KC Disposal, (because I paid a premium amount for that option). KC Disposal never informed me they would not honor that arrangement. I want a full refund and they refuse, even though I have never received any services from them. It was a deceitful transition from KC Composting and the rep said they decided not to honor the "grandfathering" of KC Composting customers because it was not economical to them.Business Response
Date: 11/13/2024
Hi ******
We are sorry to hear that you have had issues with our yard waste service. After looking into this issue, it appears that you've been placing your yard waste in either plastic bags or on a tarp. I also noticed that you called us yesterday to report that your yard waste wasn't picked up and that this was the first time contacting us. If we had known of this issue earlier, we could have let you know that we don't take the plastic bags or tarps.
The reason for not taking the plastic bags is because it's not environmentally friendly plus the compost company that we take our yard waste too also does not allow plastic bags. If they were to find any in a load we drop off, we would be charged an additional fee which in turn would increase our rates. The trucks that we have are not equipped to pick up and dump the tarps.
I also wanted to let you know that when KC Disposal took over for KC Composting, we mailed out letters to all the yard waste customers to let them know that we would only pick up the plastic bags until the end of April 2024 and starting in May 2024 we would only take the yard waste in brown paper bags or pick up the containers.
We will be issuing you a refund for 7 months of service for the amount of $156.34. Which will be for the months of December 2024 to June 2025.
Thank you,
