I honestly don’t get why GLA Collection Company, Inc. is reporting this debt under my name because I don’t owe them anything. I never signed anything with them, and when I asked for a copy of the original application, they didn’t even bother to provide it. It’s frustrating because this is hurting my credit for no reason, and it’s just not fair. How can they just put something on my report without any proof?

I went to apply for a credit card and found a hit on my credit report. It said it was from GLA. I called GLA to ask for information and to inform them I had not received information. I was told that I had been sent a letter to ****** *** ** ************ **. I was told that the debt was for a *** ** *****
I do not live at ****** ***. I explained this. I also stated that I did not remember an ambulance that far back and asked for verification. I had had an ambulance show up, and I had signed an *** to dismiss them from the scene during my time at ****** ***. However, when I was at ****** *** does not line up with the date provided verbally over the phone. I was told to just pay the money to get the hit off of my credit. I was told that it was my responsibility to update my mailing address-- I have via *** records. I was told I owed money for a service that was questionable at best. I was also shamed repeatedly for asking for proof of a debt. I had spoken to the supervisor-- her name started with a "G"-- or at least a G sound on 5/29/25 at 4:38pm. I said I wanted documentation of the debt. I was told I would be sent documentation through an email. I provided my email address. I was sent an e-mail confirming my name, I sent an e-mail requesting: -A full validation of the alleged debt, including itemized billing.
-Proof that you are legally authorized to collect on this account.
-Documentation showing when and how notice was originally delivered.
-Clarification of whether you own the debt or are collecting on behalf of another entity.
In exchange for proof, I offered to make a large payment and set up a payment plan. I received a confirmation email confirming the email was delivered... However, I never received the information promised.
I reported to all 3 credit bureaus, during which, GLA changed the address on my credit report as to which they reported mailing information to. I have never received any information. I want this debt removed until proven-then paymentsBusiness Response

Complaint: ********Thank you for your response and for providing the itemized list of charges.
However, I was never properly notified of this debt at the time of service. The address used was not my residence, which I can verify with documentation from the ****** ** ***** ********. Because of this, I was never given the opportunity to address the debt before it was reported to the credit bureaus. Unfortunately, this has resulted in significant credit damage through no fault of my own.
I am willing to resolve this matter and arrange payment. However, due to the reporting error and the lack of notice, I respectfully request that this debt be removed from all credit reporting agencies upon the first payment of an agreed upon payment plan. I only wish to span the payment across 90 days- I feel this is acceptable given that I was only notified of this debt due to a credit check.I hope to resolve this professionally and cooperatively. Please let me know if you are able to accommodate this request so that we can move forward with a solution that is fair to both parties.

I am prepared to address this matter and will be providing a cashier's check next week. That will be less than a month since time of notice via credit report.However, I need written confirmation that the debt will be removed from all credit reporting agencies upon receipt of payment.
This confirmation is necessary, as this mark is interfering with my ability to upgrade housing and get a credit card in preparation for my transition into my field of choice

Please find attached a sample letter that you will receive once the balance is paid in full. Please be aware that we are required by law to request removal once the balance is zero. Please allow time for the removal to take place as we have no control over the credit bureaus and their removal process.
It has been our experience that the letter you recieve from GLA should satisfy most lenders.

I am temporarily rejecting this response because of information I gleaned from the paper trail left by *** ****** ***. I did not foresee you touching base with me and being as forthcoming as you have been-- thank you for that. However, while looking for ways to correct my credit score, I pulled the *** report as allowed by HIPPA policy- for me to see my own medical records. I found that I had physically and verbally refused service, as well as refused to sign for service. (In addition, information was not submitted to a full coverage insurance plan due to this refusal) I am assuming your company does not have access to this information due to HIPPA protocol. I submitted it to the credit bureau for review.
I apologize for making this more chaotic, I was not expecting a response from you. I want to thank you for communicating with me in a respectful and helpful way. I understand a lot of people you all deal with do make up excuses and are people that genuinely knew about debts and refused to pay them. That is not the case in this situation. I am waiting to hear back from all 3 credit bureaus, as far as legality, then I will follow up with you again. I do have the money set aside, as long as everything is legal, I will follow up with you again. I cannot promise what legal means I will go to to promote patient rights and honest credit reporting.

the burden of proof falls on the collection agency not the consumer (me) . I find it concerning that GLA collections is not complying with legal requests.
I request GLA collection provide proof they sent debt validation , as is my legal right. If GLA collections cannot provide proof, I demand this account be removed from my credit report as is my right per FCRA section
