      This is a terrible company to do business with. I ordered and paid for Family Tree Maker 2019 and the Companion Manual in January 2020.I received Family Tree Maker in January 2020.I am still waiting for the Manual.I get the same excuses when I contact them through online chat.They don't answer their phone.I get the same message through chat that it will be out in a few months. Its been almost 4 years. I have noticed there are many negative complaints against this company.*****

      I have had this software for approximately 6 months. It has worked a total of 28 days. It only worked then because I did chat after chat after chat. They sent software but it was only good for 14 days. I did that twice. Now they won't send that anymore. It's the same thing every day 'we're working on it. We will email you when it's ready'. Why did they continue to sell the software when they already knew they had a problem? I'm so over the excuses.

      They offer sync with Ancestry and it does not work and they have no idea when it will be fixed. They said Ancestry problem and ******** says Mackiev problem. Both of these companies should be able to resolve this without issue since they are "supposed" to be trusted software providers.

      This is a horrible company and dont do business with them under any circumstances. I ordered the Companion Guide from them years ago and they never delivered it. They just give me bogus excuses. I would file a complaint with the attorney generals office, which is my next step.

      Yup, MacKiev's take-over of Family Tree Maker began with a bang. Ancestry rarely, if ever, had sync feature work correctly - don't know how many times I had to re-upload my tree, then download that tree back into Family Tree Maker to restore my tree. I spent more months back then crying when sync would corrupt my tree and have to be restored. Every time I was on pins and needles until my tree was fixed. I started doing genealogy with my mom who used FTM 2012 then. We've purchased each new version from Ancestry when it came out, and having high hopes for MacKiev fixing all the sync problems, so we continued the trend with MacKiev (Latest ver we're running I think is 24 which is their most current.). And Initially, yes all my sync problems were no more! MacKiev made it work more reliably - I think after their 'fixes' to sync, in 2 years time, only had to restore my tree once. Not anymore. MAcKiev has dropped the ball on their customers worse than Ancestry ever did. Our family tree has grown from a few hundred people when I had started helping, to approx **** now. So being able to backup and sync EVERY MONTH is critical. Not to them though. It's been 3 months now that sync is down completely - not working at all. I contacted them thinking maybe it was something I'd done or failed to do, and was told it was on their end, and they were aware of the issue and were working on the problem. I told the rep I needed to sync and backup my tree, which I did every month, except now the last 2 months, which I was kind of in a panic over, and asked if they might have any kind of window as to when it might be fixed and was told no, sorry, but we are working on it. Thanks for nothing. And now it's been 3 months of their software being about as useful as a giant paperweight - no longer works with your Ancestry tree, the very thing it was made to do. Going to make the switch cause they only want more money from people.

      Mackiev's Family Tree Maker software is worthless. I cannot get my tree from Ancestry to download. I only bought the terrible program to work with this tree. Mackiev blames Ancestry, claiming that Ancestry is making updates on their end causing the problem. But this has been going on for months. I feel completely cheated by Mackiev!

      I have had a beef with this company for some time now. I have been WAITING for years for them to update PRINT SHOP #4! Finally, they have been advertising PRINT SHOP #4 for about 6 months now. They ONLY allow emails and chats! NO PHONE NUMBERS are given out to actually TALK to a representative. The ****** person will tell you this repeatedly. Despite advertising it for 6 months YOU CAN NOT BUY IT! Nope!!! Not ready to ACTUALLY sell it I guess! I have started a daily email now for the past 4 days asking for the phone number of a supervisor to talk to. What kind of company will NEVER answer a call????? One that has too many complaints to bother with! AHA!!!! I see a phone number provided by the BBB here. I'll go now and give them a call!!!! THANKS BBB!!!

      I wish I had seen these complaints before I purchased the software. It did cause some issues on my end which were fine once I removed the software and readjusted the settings for a pretty crucial and sensitive app within the system.Hence, I'm leery of further updates until the company is more stable and responsive. There is a war going on in ******* and if their headquarters is in **** (judging from the hours they show for their live chat), it's only natural to assume problems.

      Starting in December 2022 *******'s Family Tree Maker no longer had a working link to Ancestry.com and, therefore, the "sync" feature is no longer available. (I have followed all their web page suggestions for clearing cache, etc without success).I have had repeated "chats" with their customer service and the canned response is "It is a problem at their end and they are working in it". (I am not sure if this is a real person or a BOT).I have also tried, on multiple occasions, to reach them by email and not received any response.Given the reviews below, I am coming to the conclusion that this company may no longer service its software but that it still provides a link for individuals to purchase their software.This is a shame, because I have been using various versions of this genealogy software since it came out in **** by Blue Banner.
