I wanted to share my experience with **** *., a salesperson from ***************, regarding the solar panel lease for our home in ******, **********. He approached us early this summer, discussing our PG&E bill and energy usage, and assured us that we could lease solar panels for 25 years at $265 per month without additional charges to PG&Eexcept for connection fees.**** emphasized that the solar panels would produce more energy than we would consume, even as our familys needs evolved. I asked several follow-up questions to confirm my understanding, and he consistently reassured me that this arrangement was accurate. However, upon receiving our first bill, I realized that much of what **** communicated was misleading. He did not clarify that we would still owe PG&E for electricity consumed outside of the panels' production hours (e.g., evenings). As a result, we received a PG&E bill for over $200 in addition to the $265 lease payment, which is significantly more than we were paying before. This experience has been incredibly frustrating, especially knowing that we are now locked into this lease for 25 years. If we had been informed of the potential additional costs from PG&E, we would have negotiated a lower lease payment or considered purchasing the system outright instead. Its concerning that such misleading practices occur in the industry. I hope to find a resolution and prevent others from facing a similar situation.Thank you for your attention.Customer Answer

I am seeking a resolution. The ideal resolution would be nullifying the contract. I doubt that would be likely, but in the event it isn't, the next best resolution would be negotiating the rate because now as the consumer I have the accurate information, not the false information the salesperson presented to me. If I had known this information and had not operated based on the lies that were told to make the deal, I would have negotiated for a MUCH lower rate.Business Response

After submitting my initial complaint, I retained an attorney to address the matter. Unfortunately, she was unable to reach the BBB to notify them of her involvement. She also contacted ******* ****** with Boundless to discuss the complaint and explore a resolution. While Mr. ****** initially promised to follow up, he did not respond despite multiple attempts to reach him.
I am no longer represented by this attorney and am eager to resolve this issue. The core of the complaint is that Mr. ****** made an error in sizing the equipment for our household. To align with the original agreement and his assurances, I am requesting an additional solar battery as a resolution.Business Response

While I appreciate that the business forwarded my message to the installer, the issue extends beyond their role. The problem originates with the salesperson employed by the company, who improperly sized the equipment for our household, resulting in the current issues. This is not solely the installers responsibility but reflects a broader issue tied to the companys obligation to ensure accurate assessments during the sales process. Remedying this situation requires collaboration between the company and the installer to install the additional battery needed to meet our households energy needs.

Similar to the couple with the System supposedly going to produce enough for their future pool and Teslas. Just before installation, came back with a revised configuration stating that RI Energy formerly National Grid, reconfigured the original plan because we did not need the original number of panels planned for despite knowing we had Central Air. Our electric bill never reached ****** per month running in nonstop all summer. This month I not only get to pay Sunrun ****** for the panels but RI Energy ****** with ***** of that being delivery charges ***** in actual usage despite the Boundless salesmen who also works for Team Sunshine telling me that the beauty of the program was that if I did use more than I produce, there would be no delivery service charges. I say salesmen because I told the first one we were out due to several lies we caught him in only to have his so called manager come in to close the loop and looped me right back in. Was told of tax write offs then later told they were baked into the amazing deal we got. Was told ****** was just the financier not my solar company and that my solar company is Team Sunshine. Also not true! Was told if I were to get a pool I could just add more panels if not producing enough to cover. Not true without having a 2nd Sunrun bill which wouldnt be necessary had they stuck with the original configuration. Should have went with my gut. Too many players all lining their pockets not interested in the customer or the planet for that matter. Was also told if I needed a new roof down the line because mine was not going to last the 25 year warranty, it was at their expense. When I said too good to be true, was told that is was everyone says.Business Response

[While another company did the install it was Boundless Energies deceptive and deceitful salesmen ************ and ********************* who contracted with Team Sunshine on the deal. I have text messages from both full of lies and can provide all. Boundless Energy did reach out, however, was promised a call from her manager I have yet to receive so, no, I am not satisfied yet. The fact is Team Sunshine apparently no longer does business with Boundless Energy and can see why. These 2 salesmen work as as tag team. We have reached out and explained that Boundless Energy was not involved in the sale, install or follow up with the solar system that is being mentioned here. We recommend that Team Sunshine, the solar company that was involved in this system be contacted. Unfortunately there is nothing that Boundless Energy can do with a project that has nothing to do with us.

I was approached by a field (door to door) salesman ********************* about purchasing solar panels. I was skeptical that my average electric bill would be reduced by more than half. I was told how low my monthly payments on the panels would be and I figured it sounded like a decent deal but not completely convinced until I was told I would receive a tax credit added to my income tax refund totaling 10% of my costs to pay down my solar panel loan to keep my payments low. After filing my taxes I noticed the amount of my refund hadnt changed filing the documents provided to receive the credit, I called Freedom Forever and got contact info for *******************************, Devens manager. I contacted him and he was shocked I didnt get a big refund, he recommended I submit an amended tax return and it should increase my refund amount. I then received 2 emails from the finance company Mosaic talking reminding customers about the credit and making the large payment to keep monthly payments low. I amended the taxes and still nothing.Business Response

I foolishly got into a contract with Everbrite solar thru ******************* who is employed by Boundless Energy on July 17, 2024 to install solar panels. I have since decided not to go through with this. A notice of cancellation was included in this agreement. I have uploaded this cancellation agreement.I also uploaded my signed agreement which I sent to Freedom Forever as indicated on the form.I called ******************* on July 22,23,24, and 25, 2024. I only heard back from him one time on the 24th. He finally said he got my message to cancel. He said he was working on paperwork. I said that I wanted proof of cancellation. I haven't heard from him since. I emailed him a signed copy of the cancellation form after I called on the 25th. and still haven't heard from him.He has a copy of the cancellation signed by me and feel he should be able to cancel it himself. He should at least call or send me proof of cancellation.*************************Business Response

I referred my friend to Boundless Energy Inc. for solar panel installation. Boundless committed to providing me with a $1,000 check once the panels were installed. The panels were installed in April 2024, and I have not received the check. I have called and emailed Boundless well over a dozen times without success. I contacted Freedom Forever, who said this is Boundless's responsibility. I have screenshots of my communications with Boundless's representative, *************************, who said he would "reach back out and see what's going on" on 4/25/24. I also reached out to his manager, ***************************, who has not responded. I am frustrated that I have not received the check and that my utility bills have not been reduced as promised. I have a text message but is having issues uploading it.Business Response

We appreciate the referral. It may not have been explained to you, but typically the referral bonus is paid around 90 days after the job has been fully completed. We have put forth an order to expedite your referral bonus, and we have sent out a W-9 for you to complete.
If that is completed by May 24, we will be able to send out a check this Friday May 25. I am sorry for the misunderstanding on the timeline of when referral checks are issued, and we appreciate the opportunity to serve your referral.

I am writing to file a formal complaint against Boundless Energy regarding an unfulfilled rebate promise made during the purchase of solar panels. As a consumer, integrity, and honesty are paramount in my dealings with any company.During the sales process, a representative named Mr. ******************************* assured me of a $1000 rebate on the purchase of solar panels from his company. It significantly influenced my decision to select his company for this purchase. Over a period of six months, **************** consistently reaffirmed this commitment.Despite numerous assurances, I was recently informed by **************** that the promised rebate would not be provided. This revelation has left me deeply disappointed and dissatisfied with the level of service and integrity demonstrated by Boundless Energy.I kindly request the BBB's assistance in facilitating a resolution to this matter. I believe that Boundless Energy should honor the commitment made to me, as it was a significant factor in my decision to choose them.I appreciate your attention to this complaint and look forward to a prompt and satisfactory resolution.Initial Complaint

Boundless Energy sales said that they would be with me every step of the Solar Panel installation. I have tried my sales rep through phone, text message and via emails and there is absolutely no response. They are selling on behalf of Freedom Forever but freedom doesn't have people running their projects either so I am going by what the Sales Person sold me. I am paying cash for the project and the months of delays for this project means that I will miss the New England sunlight. I have to pay 80% of the cost after the panels have finally been installed but it could take months just to get the panels inspected and to get them activated. When I was told February, but maybe March. I was also promised for the 1 delay of May that I would have a $500.00 check sent to me, but I can't find the sales person that did this. I would do homework before working with Boundless Energy. Good typical sales, but they won't hand you off correctly to the **************** nor track the project.Business Response

I have a sign on my door that states "Working from home. Do not knock or ring bell. Leave packages at the door. No soliciting." After they ignored my sign the young lady explained to me that she is instructed by her manager ***************** to ignore the signs and knock anyway. When she attempted to call him he told her "I'm going to hang up now" and then refused to take my phone calls. Horrible business practices. I would recommend everyone stay away from this company!Business Response

I am sorry that you were bothered during the day, and your signs were ignored, as well as you did not feel that the manager handled the situation appropriately.
We take these notifications very seriously. We are in the business of finding homes that *** qualify for solar, and then scheduling a consultation with a Solar Consultant.
We never want to be a bother, and we train our reps to be courteous and respectful with all of their interactions. We will handle this internally as well as schedule some additional trainings so that this type of situation does not happen again.
Thank You,

Better Business Bureau:
I will accept their response but do not believe it. This company and all solar companies train their employees that they are not soliciting, just providing information. The door knocker confirmed this. My town also requires a permit to solicit, but again, these companies pretend they are not soliciting. This is obvious in the response from the business.

My wife and I met with a Boundless Energy sales rep in the summer of 2021. We were shown computer models of the solar potential at our house, and told that in order to achieve a solar system large enough to handle our current energy consumption and to provide us with excess energy to handle our future pool, we should opt to purchase a system because the setbacks were different between a purchase and a lease. We were sold 49 Tesla 425W panels and told that not only would it cover our energy consumption, but it would give us enough to be able to both get Tesla cars and still have enough energy production. During the engineering process, we were emailed a revised contract that changed our panels from 425w Tesla panels, to 350w Mission panels, with no reduction in cost might I add. I reached out to our Boundless rep to voice my concern with the smaller system size, and he told me that the engineers felt that the mission panels would work better for us because of the shade on part of our house, but not to worry, it would still provide us with everything he promised and we should sign the change order. We reluctantly signed, and lo and behold, our system went in, and it nowhere near covers our energy usage, even before the pool is up and running. We are now stuck with a $305/month solar payment, and ~$500/month electric bill. I reached out to the rep to tell him how unhappy we were about the system not being anywhere close to what we were promised, and told me that he couldnt do anything more to help us. I have reached out to him a few times, and ***** get the runaround, and when I call Boundless Energy directly, no one ever answers the phone. Trying to get this issue resolved without getting a Consumer Protection lawyer involved, but every day its looking more and more like I will have to.Business Response

Boundless sold me a solar system and promised many issues that did not materialize. My system went live on 12/15/2021 and so far has been out of service 3-1/2 months without making any power and I have contacted Boundless (****) - Freedom Forever (****) - *********************** Customer Relations - the original salesperson (Forest) and Solar Edge, (equipment supplier), Customer Relations. My system is still not making power and no resolutions to make this system reliable. My power bill has skyrocketed and I still am paying on the note to Mosaic monthly. Instead of this system helping me and the power grid, it has cost my family aggravation and more money out of pocket. Promises but no timely action on any above companies. This system is not a year old and has gone through 3 inverters which takes the whole system down. What will happen for the next 24 years warranted. My system is still down.Business Response

I appreciate your frustration of having to deal with a solar system that has had some issues. It appears that the Solar system has not operated for a few months. While this is very frustrating, the warranty will cover the cost of the electricity that you have had to buy from the utility.
That being said, the real issue is that the solar system is not working. I have had my operation team reach out to you and they have left a message for you to give you an update and inform you on how you can be reimbursed for the cost of the electricity you have had to purchase from the utility.
We do have a service call scheduled for 12/1/2022 to troubleshoot the system. I will follow up with the team after this service call and I will make sure the team stays in contact with you and keeps you in the loop until your system is up and running as it was designed to do.
