Last November 2023, I purchased something from this company, Christian ***** and ever since (January, February, March, April, and May) I have been charged $16.95 a month without my knowledge. I did not authorize theses monthly fees and only because I misplace the card did I audit my account and find these bogus charges. I would like a refund for the five monthly charges.Business Response

Ordered over $100 worth of merchandise and opted for free shipping on orders over $100 - for the next three months I have been charged $16.95 claiming I joined some "Club". This is fraud and disgusting to hide behind being a "Christian" ********** I have been charged $50.85 for NOTHING. I have received no merchandise just an average of 2 texts and emails PER DAY. It is harassing and fraud and unethical business practices. I am an attorney and may be seeking to gather other harmed individuals to file a class action lawsuit. I want my money back and all communication and affiliation cut off.Business Response

I purchased $126 from this company. Noticed charges in March and April $16.95 each month for rewards program I did not sign up for. Looking at just 4 pages of complaints to BBB each complaint on same issue. No one knew they were signing up for charges every month. Company seems to give same response as if it customer overlook. They are lying. Going back to Feb 2024 when I made order I notice email they sent same day showing my username and a temporary password to use to get rewards program discount which I did not use the temporary password. I already had an account with a password. This seems how people are getting enrolled. They are not doing it but when you take an account and issue a temporary password that can over ride original password easy way to con people. After documented time and names 4 1/2 hours over 5 pdoneccalks on hold person finally agreed to cancel reward program a said refund in 5 days. We will see. I informed them I will contact and send all info including the complaints to BBB to my State Attorney General. This company is frauding and loosing customers. I ask all those who have and will file complaints check your old emails from this company. I guarantee they received email after they purchased with their username and temporary password to sign up with rewards programBusiness Response

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that it wasn't clear to you that you had opted to enroll in our Christianbook Rewards program when you placed your order. Our Christianbook Rewards program is not an auto enrollment program and members must sign up to join and become part of the program. It's important to us that members are aware of their membership status so we send a few emails during the 30 day free trial asking for feedback and providing more information about our program--we're sorry you missed those.
I have confirmed that your account has been cancelled and will ensure that you are refunded for both months that you were a Christianbook Rewards member.
We are working to increase communication with Christianbook Rewards members and increase awareness about our program and will consider your feedback as we move forward in that process. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you.

********* books has a reward program that is very unclear when you sign up for it. Based on all the other reviews about them, this is one of the main conplaints from them. I ordered something several months ago. Apparently signed up for free shipping and then automatically put you into their their rewards program that starts charging you 14.95$ a month. I did not know that it signed me up for this and did not see an email about it in junk or mail. I only found out about it after looking through credit card statements that I had been charged for 9 months. They may be legally able to say that we knowingly signed up for this program. But it is definitely not clear. I work at a church and this has happened to several others here as well. That tells you there is something wrong with how this is done. I get that you want to make more money, but scamming people into your rewards program is the wrong way. I would highly encourage people to use other sites to purchase their books so that you dont unknowingly pay much more for a single book cause they charge you $15 a month for several months. Very disappointed in how this has been done and that I didnt get money back for this. I expressed my frustration to costumer service, but all they say is that it is in the fine print and that is on us.Business Response

It truly grieves me to have to report a company labeled as ********** but I just noticed I have been charged $14.95 for 3 consecutive months for something I never willingly signed up for or even knew about. I cannot find any emails received regarding this subscription/membership or even a trial from Christianbook.com .I am on a tight budget and never would have been interested in something like this, free trial or not. I see I am not the only one this has happened to, despite past reports. Please resolve. Thank you.Business Response

I places an order in August for about $200 for books. I somehow got enrolled in a monthly fee that I do not remember signing up for. I did not receive any notification of my enrollment that I can find and it is not on my receipt. I called customer service and they were only willing to do 4 months of credit.Business Response
