      My ex-husband ****** *** ****** took a loan out used jeep as collateral he gifted the Jeep to me February 11 of 2024. Was unaware of the the loan he took out. So then I was forced to pay his loan for last year and few months. Along with buying new tires and having at ******** with the new tires done in parts and work done have receipts as well. He stole the tag off jeep feb 17th 2025 I contacted Mariner and finance and I let them know the games that he was playing. I do not have a loan with Mariner and finance, but they have called me many many many times to collect the payment on a loan that I didnot take out, but I have paid the loan for the last year and a couple of months and because he stole the tag I couldnt drive it. I couldnt work so he did it to make me fall behind and he did just that.. now he is defaulted on his loan I and now they want $1000 and I told him to wait until the end of this month and now its out for repossession and I just paid $2500 to have the Jeep fixed its not even. Im going to file a civil suit against him and mariner and finance. I want all the money refunded that **** paid on his loan. I didnt have to pay it but I am woman of principle and try to do whats right. Im tired of being screwed over. May just have a mechanics lien placed against the vehicle because he didnt flip the bill. **** ****** did though.

      Thank you for contacting us. Mariner Finance, LLC (Mariner) takes customer concerns seriously, and our ***************************** has thoroughly researched this complaint.

      Ms. ****** is not a listed borrower or co-borrower on any account with **********************.  However, on March 22, 2024, Mariner received a signed third-party authorization from the account ******, ****** *** ****** III, authorizing ************* ***** to be able to obtain information regarding his account.

      The account in question is secured by a perfected lien on a ******************************** the name of Mr. ****** and is currently due for March 25, 2025.  As previously advised, Ms. ****** is not a listed borrower or co-borrower on the loan, nor is she contractually bound to the loan agreement. 

      With Mr. ****** having provided authorization for Ms. ****** to access information regarding the account, Ms. ****** has contacted Mariner on numerous occasions to manage the account. However, based on this communication through the BBB, we have documented her phone number to reflect no additional phone calls from Mariner regarding the account in question.

      Mariner is not responsible for any arrangements made between our borrower and a third party that is not listed on the loan agreement.

      Ms. ****** entered into the loan agreement with Mariner Finance, LLC (Mariner) on July 7, 2021, by cashing or depositing a prescreened firm offer of credit that was mailed to her.Because Ms. ****** defaulted on the loan by failing to make payments as contractually agreed, the account was classified as a charge-off account on February *******, and eventually sold to ******************* (Plaza) on August 5, 2024.  Ms. ****** was provided a copy of the loan agreement and all related documentation at the time the loan was executed, and she may contact Plaza for additional copies of loan or related documents.

      Reporting accurate credit experience data is an essential obligation of data furnishers under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.  Mariner makes accurate account information available to the Credit ****************** (***) on a monthly basis, and each *** has its own internal policies that determine how the information is displayed in the credit report and for how long.  Based on our review of Ms. ******* account,the information furnished by Mariner to the *** is accurate. Given this, we are unable to honor Ms. ******* request to alter the information. Ms. ****** has submitted several automated credit disputes claiming both inaccurate reporting,and fraud in relation to her loan, all of which have been thoroughly reviewed and confirmed as accurately reporting.

      Ms. ****** entered into a Retail Installment Contract with ********************** (Northwest) on December 2, 2021.  The executed contract was subsequently purchased by Mariner Finance, LLC (Mariner). Because ********* failed to make any payments as contractually agreed, despite numerous unsuccessful attempts to contact her, the defaulted account was classified as a charge-off account on September 29, 2022, which remains legally collectable.

      Reporting accurate credit experience data is an essential obligation of data furnishers under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.  Mariner makes accurate account information available to the Credit ****************** (***) on a monthly basis, and each *** has its own internal policies that determine how the information is displayed in the credit report and for how long.  Based on our review, we have determined that the account information furnished by Mariner to the *** is accurate. Given this, we are unable to honor Ms. ******* request to alter the information. ********* has submitted multiple credit disputes claiming both inaccurate credit reporting and fraud in relation to her loan, all of which have been thoroughly investigated and verified as accurately reporting.

      Sent me a loan check for $2549.00 at *****% without myself applying for a loan. I dont know this company and would not deal with such loan sharks. I called this company three times now to be removed and to notify that I want no contact or to not conduct business. This is the third time they sent active checks in my name. I confronted them as if someone was to cash this check, who would be responsible for this loan. I was told I would be responsible even if I didnt cash this check. My post office has lost my mail much too often. This company should be banned from conducting business in ********

      The offer referenced in Mr. ******* complaint is a prescreened firm offer of credit in the form of a "Loan by Mail,"which is sent by Mariner Finance, LLC (Mariner) to qualified consumers that meet the selection criteria.  The Loan by Mail offer included all applicable loan information and disclosures, and complies with state and federal regulations.


      Per Mr. ******* request, Mariner has placed his name and address on its internal Do Not Solicit (DNS) list, and he will be removed from all future Mariner marketing campaigns. It is important to note that mailed offers are prepared up to 60 days in advance of the mailing date and as a result, it is possible that additional offers may be received within this time. 


      As indicated in the disclosures provided with the offer, if a consumer does not want to receive prescreened offers of credit from the company extending the offer, or from any company, the consumer may follow the instructions provided in the PRESCREEN & OPT-OUT NOTICE.  Consumers may also opt out of future offers of this type by visiting *******************.

Ms. ****** ***** made seventeen (17) of the required forty-one (41) loan payments as contractually agreed, but failed to submit additional payments, resulting in the account being referred to a collection attorney on March 25, 2024. Judgment was awarded in favor of Mariner on August 3, 2024, and as of the receipt of this complaint, no payments have been received in accordance with the judgment.


      Reporting accurate credit experience data is an essential obligation of data furnishers under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.  Mariner makes accurate account information available to the Credit ****************** (***) on a monthly basis, and each *** has its own internal policies that determine how the information is displayed in the credit report and for how long.  Based on our review, we have determined that the account information furnished by Mariner to the *** is accurate. In his complaint, Mr. ******* alleges that Mariner is inaccurately reporting his account to the ********************** bureaus. However, based on our review, Mr. ******* made Four (4) of the required Forty-Two (42) loan payments, but failed to make additional payments as contractually agreed, and on March 29, 2024, the defaulted was classified as a charge-off, which remains legally collectable.


      Mr. ******* was provided a copy of the loan agreement and all related documentation at the time he acknowledged the terms and signed the loan agreement, and in order to protect the confidential information of our customers, ********************** requires verification of the requestor's identity prior to providing additional copies of loan or loan related documents. Mr. ******* may visit his local Mariner branch with photo ID to receive a printed copy of the original loan documents, or he may send a copy of his request and government issued photo identification to Mariner Finance ***************************************************************************
