We hired Pauly's Movers to move our son from Henrico, VA to Virginia Beach. The quote we got was for $1,449. We ended up paying over $3,200 because they held my son's property and refused to offload it until we paid their extortion. They arrived over two hours late, brought no tools to disassemble furniture, did not wrap couches to protect against dirt, scratched many pieces of furniture and took 4 hours to load up a 1-BR apt! The movers were totally unprofessional and inexperienced (it was one's first day on the job!) and the whole move was just painful, stressful and depressing. "Manager" Randy was rude, nasty and a genuine criminal, forcing us to pay $1700 over the estimate or he threatened to impound my son's furniture. We are seeking a return of the $1700 in stolen money.Initial Complaint

******* Movers were hired to move our 4-bedroom, 3 living room multi family home on 03-18-2023. When hiring this company, I spoke with part owner *********. I expressed several times that we have A LOT of big furniture, beds, couches etc. ********* assured me that the 3-hour estimated time would be MORE than enough time to move our belongings. ********* stated he would make sure everything was loaded in one trip. Once the guys arrived, they had a truck that barely fit 2 bedrooms worth of furniture. It also took them almost 4 hours to even load the truck. While they were moving furniture, one of the guys ripped our thermostat off the wall, broke our tv stand and cabinetry. One of the guys called their boss **** (********* was unreachable). **** **** up on me and then refused to answer my calls. My daughter in-law had to call from her phone. Once we got a hold of ****, he stated he would correct the issue and send the guys back to get the rest of our stuff. Then we got a call that they were demanding more than double what ********* originally quoted us. This was NOT what **** originally stated when he was going to "Correct" the issue. He was extremely unprofessional and rude on the phone as he began to yell at my daughter in-law. We had to pay the wrong amount just to get our belongings back. Once our things were being moved into the new house, our walls/ceilings were damaged, newly restored hardwood floors were scratched and priceless dishes were broken. The guys stated "it's not on us" I have attempted to call the office to speak with *********, as I was told to do, by ****. However, ********* is still Unavailable. This company is a scam and they charged for bogus materials, time and gas. They also changed the contract AFTER we called and complained! Everything about this company is fraudulent. I solicited their services based on their advertising great service with professional movers. Arrangement was made for 10/25 at 0900 to be moved from Silver Spring to Baltimore. The movers called stating they were going to be an hour late. Only to arrive ill equipped and clearly untrained. They didn't have the means to properly wrap my electronic equipment and my furniture to Include my televisions, sofas and chairs. They had to use my packing tape, wrapping paper, and bubble wrap because they didn't have any. They had to use my pull cart because they came with only one two wheeled hand truck, and the came with a truck without a ramp. They also left several glass inserts behind next to the loading fence only for me to have to go back that night and retrieve them. Once at the house, they began unloading and in doing so, they scraped and damaged my front door, walls, and furniture. While unpacking, I discovered glassware and stemware, some irreplaceable. In addition, i was over charged. I called the company and expressed my frustration and wanted to file a claim. I was given an email and a case number to upload my pictures only to not hear from anyone. Even after leaving several messages, they ignored my calls and to this day has failed to respond. They claimed to have been a member of a chamber of commerce only to find out anyone that pays a fee can be a member. I want some answers and results from Tony who arranged this transaction in the first place.Initial Complaint

Pauly's Movers service was very unprofessional, but I will just focus on what they charged on their final contract comparing to the estimate they provided.
I can understand they can not estimate correct time for labor or material, but there is no explanation why they have changed Travel Time from to $169 to $507 (from one hour to four hours).
In attached document, it is obvious that Move Estimate included Origin and Destination Address and Travel time was estimated to one hour which is actual travel time between two addresses. Also you can find in their contract notes they are charging one additional hour for travel (1/2 hour to get to me and 1/2 hour to get back), although this was not mention on Estimate.
However, even if they add an additional hour, it would be total 2 hours of Travel time but my final contract included total 4 hours Travel time. This is not true, there is no any explanation for it in contract, so obviously it is unprofessional attempt to charge more than they should.
I am asking at least refund for 2 hours Travel time, which is equal $338.Initial Complaint

I hired the movers to move this past Friday. While moving me they broke my 50" tv. The mover called his company and took pics. Said they were filing a claim. I got an estimate for moving my kids to an apartment: 2 hours and 2 movers going from CLARKSBURG to Ellicott city: 1h two movers cost $149
1- loading : took 50 minutes
2-going from CLARKSBURG to Ellicott city : 1h charged $149
3 unloading took less than loading
Based on their estimate it costs $587,
To my surprise they charged me $885.05, I spend more than 30 minutes with the manager just to explain the charges because I did not exceed the timing in the estimate. He couldn't explain or break down the bill, and was blackmailing me if I don't pay we do not unload your staff. As of now I did not send the bill to see the breakdown ( two hours ago he told me I will send it to you).
The estimate is $587,
I payed 885.05 + $50 deposit: $935.05

They quoted me for a large truck at $857. They arrived with a smaller truck and ended up not filling it up and charging me $1300 to unload a half empty truck. Had to rent a uhaul and move the rest of my belongings. Then they got stuck in my front yard and made a huge whole and broke a chair and a desk.Business Response

This company did not for fill the original agreement. As soon as they arrived had the mentality of rushing and hurrying to get in and get out! Didn't pack anything and only took what I had to pack defeating the purpose of me telling ***** what I wanted to be done for the price of quoted 750! Then the whole time taking my big furniture out each time asking is that it, is that it? Like I have you for 3 hours and only been 30 mins. What was the hurry and complaining when asking me what else next each time. Never asked for another trip when they didn't want to handle my tv due to messing it up yet was quick to ask me to take in my own personal vehicle like what? I hired y'all to move my stuff not me. Once to my storage unit showed me the final price and all the sudden the original quote jumped 400 dollars for a travel fee! How and what in the world! A fee they never talked about or added to the quote to take advantage of people on and what's even more shocking is that they didn't finish the job and just left! Yes they left my couch on the side of a dump and drove off as it was pouring down raining lying to their office that I said I didn't have the key to the dumpster when in fact I had the wrong key and went back and got. I even have video evidence of me having to throw it away myself in the rain upset and angry. To drive home and see that so much was not taken and packed when originally asked ***** I wanted done! How can you justify and be ok charging people 1100 dollars for a hour of work when they didn't finish the job nor stayed for the three hours!!!! I want a refund and pay the original 750 for what they did do and having to finish myself. I would never or even mention this company to anyone ever! I've never been treated so disrespectfully and as ***** said she told them what I needed done and yet didn't do at all! I have video evidence for anyone to see as I can't post that ok here but pictures of my place with stuff left they didn't grab and my kitchen glasses.
