I gave Flagstar Bank 1 star for the simple fact that a 1/4 star option was not available and leaving no stars would seem as if I didn't care about the rating system itself. My loan was purchased by Flagstar about three years ago and everything was fine as long as I was sending my payment in and I didn't have to talk to customer service. Then COVID hit. I experienced a drastic loss-of-income (being self-employed) and had to be placed on a forbearance plan. I was told that after my income situation was remedied, I would have options to get my mortgage current again. After 3-4 months, I started the process of determining what those options were by filling out a loss mitigation application. Because of delays with the *** due to COVID, I could not submit the additional documents that Flagstar requested because I didn't have them. Instead of working with me, I have been trapped in a vicious loop of phone calls, submitting applications, and documents, to no avail. My phone will ring with their number on caller ID but will hang up when I answer. I have to repeat my personal info multiple times when I call and always end up talking to several people, none of which can actually help me. I've been told not to send money in or it will be refused. I was also told in late June that no negative action would be taken on my account until the end of September 2022 but it went into foreclosure status at the end of July. I received a letter in the mail last week that said I had a single point-of-contact on the loan but when I called them, the representative I talked to said that was no longer the case and couldn't help me. I had even asked for the other contact by name! I regret that I am forced to do business with a company that seems determined to take my home away from me and my family. I cannot and will not recommend any financial product that Flagstar has to offer!Flagstar Bank

Flagstar Bank is one of the most poorly run banks I have dealt with for mortgages. They keep sending "Please provide hazard insurance information" notices in spite of uploading the insurance policy information multiple times (3) and talking to their customer service about having uploaded it (both on the phone and via Chat). Each time I am told its being reviewed and I will be informed if anything does not suffice and never hear back (after spending a couple of hours each time to send them what they need and follow-up). Then they buy "a policy on your behalf" at 3 times the cost of insurance you already have and have provided evidence for and charge it to your escrow. Totally unprofessional and they should not be in the mortgage business if they can't operate like other professional organizations. I ******** time is the charm for this organization after having provided this information a 4th time. We will see if I have to take other actions.Flagstar Bank

I have been trying to refinance my home for months. It's been a back and forth battle. The loan officer and the loan processor are NEVER on the same page. They have approved my loan, I have paid my appraisal, and had my house re-inspected after repairs were done. My home was approved. They called today telling me it's no longer approved and I need to pay more closing costs to make my loan work (due to debt to income). Here's the thing, I ALREADY OWN MY HOME!!!!!!!! I am refinancing it to remove my ex-husbands name after 2 years of living here alone. I can obviously make my house payment but they want to tell me I make $11 too little a month? Excuse me, do they want my money? I'm beyond over this company. 0/10 never recommend. Save yourself a headache.Oh and let's not leave out them asking for the same documents time after time because they "don't remember seeing them. "Flagstar Bank

I have had my mortgage loans with Flagstar for over 8 years total and never had any issues. We decided to open a HELOC loan and we were completely lied to and screwed over when it came to our monthly payment. They are insisting on redoing the loan for a THIRD time all while running our credit scores AGAIN because they made a mistake. I cannot get any supervisor to return my calls and cannot get anywhere with the customer service agents or "*****************************" who was our original loan officer. He made a mistake and me and my husband are getting the run around over and over again. They have done NOTHING to make this right!!!Flagstar Bank

Flagstar Bank failed to meet their commitment to the original cash out refinance estimate. I am an existing loan customer with a perfect payment record and excellent credit rating. Flagstar conditionally approved the loan and then stopped communicating with me for 2 weeks. They then changed the terms of the loan to a higher interest rate and closing cost. I am out of pocket for the $600 appraisal fee, which they should refund since they changed the loan product just prior to closing. I cancelled the loan. Very poor experience through this entire process.Flagstar Bank

This bank has held up my insurance claim after a catastrophic storm even though I own 70% in equity of my home and have a measly $41k in claims. The only human contact I have had after a week of trying was someone trying to sell me a life alert device.Flagstar Bank

Terrible customer service. Not helpful at all. When trying to ************** hardship they kept telling us that we were missing paperwork. We would send the paperwork over and then not hear from them for a week when they would say we were still missing or completed something wrong. When we had put everything in and thought we were good we for two letters in the mail (no phone call) one saying we were still missing paperwork that we had sent and the other saying they closed our case. We asked for help and were basically left on our own. I am now trying to find a way to change banks because Flagstar is terribleFlagstar Bank

I have been trying to get a modification since 2019. Our area was in the ******** 2018 hurricane area. We purchased our home in September of 2018 and a week later the Hurricane came through. I was told by the mortgage company that they would do a referral for two/three month. In order for us to get repairs completed. Our loan was sold to Flag-star the following January 2019. I have been communicating with Flag-star since then. They keep having me fill out new modification applications. This has been a nightmare. If they would have approved the modification in 2019 we would not be as far behind on our mortgage. I do not understand how a mortgage company can be allowed to do that. I mean do they collect more money from the government the longer they drag it out? I have tried everything. I have been scammed a few times trying to get it fixed. I do not know where to turn now. I am now Ill diagnosed with COPD 50% lung function. I am still working but not sore for how long. I guess if I was not and collecting state help all would have been taken care of. This is not right the working should get a break. I had to worked all through Covid-19. I did not get any Covid-19 help what is wrong with our country. Now we may be homeless unless Flag-star will do a modification. Where is my help in all this mess that Flag-star has continued for three years now??Flagstar Bank

Well, the only thing Flag Star has provided me is now they are foreclosing. All I wanted was a loan modification or any.hing in 2019 to keep my loan balance from getting to the amount it is now. Thank you so much for not helping me when I first ask. Only to tell me don't worry about your payments they will be put to the end of your loan once the modification is done. You will have no problem getting a loan modification since you had property damages. What a lie!!! This is why so many Americans are homeless. Flag Star among other banks get bailouts while the average person is left homeless. Then sell your home for much less than you paid for it again getting a bailout for the remaining amount. The only thing I can say is where is our government at they need to stop giving these companies a bailout. What about the people in which are losing their homes???? This is so sad makes me sick. I will never try to purchase a home again. Where is my down payment????? I paid over ******** down am I going to get that back I do not think so.Review fromDanie V

The absolute worse experience I have been through as a new homeowner. My home was completely destroyed after hurricane ***, 4 months after i purchased my home. The 1st contractor stole my 1st check from flood insurance. Police reports were filed. I paid for my home to get gutted and start doing repairs myself. A year late. They are still holding a small check for ******. I have turned in every piece of paper. And I am using all of my savings to fix my home. For the last 2 months I been told a supervisor would call me. Ofcourse that has never happened. Thanks a lot for caring about the property. SMHFlagstar Bank
