1 starfor the longest time, I've have to call xcel not once, not twice, not three times, but already 6 times for them to just tell me, sorry we cant help you and we have to schedule a call back to you and every single time i never receive one. my average **** went from about $30 all the way up to $240. from using a few hundred KWh to over 1200 KWh. no one can explain why, they blame it on the new meter, no one can give me a correct answer, i ask for a supervisor and they claim they cant transfer me to one that someone will give me a call back in god knows how long. horrible business practices.Review fromNicole F

1 starI use the average monthly payment option through ****. I noticed that my *** amount went up to $133 a month ($50 more than I had been paying) even though my energy usage has significantly decreased as I have not had my heat on for months. Furthermore, there was a previous billing issue where my apartment complex sent out an email stating that **** had underbilled for an entire season and that the current seasons bill would be increased to account for that so for several months my bill was $300+. I have contacted customer service 6 times since Monday because not only does my bill state I owe a different amount in 3 separate places and no one could explain my issue with the *** amount. I was told I would receive a callback from the supervisor the following day. The next day I missed the phone call from the supervisor and **** left a voicemail stating that she had dropped my *** amount back to the previous amount of $78 a month and she did this without speaking to me. I have now called back 4 times attempting to speak to a supervisor to adddress all of these issues and again was told I would receive a callback the next day. Well today was the next day and a supervisor was supposed to contact me and they failed to do so. I called again and spoke with another customer service representative who stated to me that someone should have called but now I wont receive a callback until Monday. I have tried multiple multiple times to resolve this with Xcel but its come to a point where that is not possible. So, I need help because due to the discrepancy with my bill, I have no idea what I am actually supposed to pay or what is going on with my account and I am legally disabled and live off of SSDI, I cannot afford to get slapped with a bill that is hundreds of dollars at the end if the year due to Xcel Energys incompetence and refusal to address my questions and concerns. I have filed a complaint with **** and *** as *** had enough of the games when I am trying to pay.Review fromAndy B

1 star**** came to my house this week because they needed to swap out the transformer on a pole that was located in a very tricky spot. They said my driveway would be the easiest way to get a boom truck in to reach the pole in question. I have a nice concrete drive that is also very narrow. I asked the lead that was here at the time if my home and driveway would be safe. He responded with "yes, and I will take pictures before and after to ensure no damage occurs." **** came out the next day, the team just started backing their truck up my driveway without even notifying me they were here to work. once they finished shimmying the truck into place, they put these legs down to help stabilize the truck. They put wood blocking down where I could see to help take the pressure off the concrete. once they completed the job, they left, once again not notify me that they were finished. I went out to check my driveway and say that where one of the legs had to be placed, it was 1/2 on my driveway and 1/2 on the grass. This weight caused the concrete to crack and damage the area. Accidents happen but this is the part that makes me upset. I call Xcel to have someone come out right away to address the issue and work towards a resolution. The **************** line tells me I need to submit a claim to their claims department. I tell them that this work request was not filed by me, and I should not be the one doing extra work to fix this issue. They said the claims department will take care of it all. I ask to speak to a supervisor, and I am told they don't have a supervisor on duty, and I could ask for a call back which will happen in ***** hours. I then get the email for the claims department, and they want me to fill out a form while providing quotes and receipts for the damage on fixing of the solution. I should not have to pay for this out of my pocket in hopes Xcel will pay me back. **** has a monopoly on the power in ** and their **************** is a joke. 1 starI have been trying to pay off a past due for almost 2 years now, let me explain. I rented an apartment that stated they were going to set up the xcel energy account for me, turns out they didnt even attempt so one day my power gets turned off. I called customer service and set up a payment plan. I had it to where my payment was due for the payment plan every 15th of the month because i knew i would get paid on that day every month, and this was explained to them. Next thing i know my payment plan was canceled at the start of the next month. You might ask yourself, that doesnt seem right the start of the month is most defiantly NOT the 15th, if you asked yourself that then you are correct it is not. Turns out the way their system works is even if you had AGREED ON A SPECIFIC DATE, it would not matter because the payment for the plan will get changed automatically by the system to whenever your normal bill is charged. I have made a total of 17 different payment arrangements and have been getting charged constant late fees due to their HORESHIT system. Something needs to be done about this company because they have monopolized the entire twin city area and they are robbing people blind! Please BBB do something this company is outrageous!Review fromThomas M

1 starThis company is a joke! They have monopolized my area! The company in question on their own website states that the bills address for my areas doesnt even service my area! They have no security in accounts! Anyone can transfer their energy into your name and social debt, as long as they have your phone number, email address, or social security number! I asked whats stopping me from transferring my account into the persons name and they said nothing! So they turned on the defense and stated that we always sent out a confirmation email to the account on file and guess what nothing! No call to confirm the transfer no email to confirm transfer! I asked then why the heck would I transfer it twice to be charged their fee twice! Problem is they started the service on the call from the landlord that transferred the bill into my name 3 days before I even started cleaning the unit and another 2 days before I started moving in! The power that the place consumed wasnt much but I feel that there happens to be some type of criminal activity here! As I didnt even step foot into the place and the power was already in my name! Theft at its finest! They have no accountability, when people call them out and make up their own rules when it comes to fraud! Something that requires your personal identification number aka social security number there should have to be some sort of protection from someone just changing accounts! Not to mention that, I kept my place at 60 degrees and bill went from 67ish dollars to over *************************************************************************************** bill! Then they charge someone, one price per kilowatt and then say they adjust the power to make it equal out! Which always ends up costing the customer more money!Review fromAlison J

1 starIf I could put a negative star review I would give them 5 negative stars! They are completely incompetent. I spoke with 4 different people and they all told me something different. My mom had a disconnection notice. She was having a hard couple of months due to the holidays. So I called and told them I would pay a deposit to make a payment plan (never heard of that ***. If I need to make a payment plan what makes you think I have money right now?!!) So I said I would pay $100.00. I worked with customer service *** to set it up. She transfered me to the automated line to pay. The automated line had me enter my card information without confirming the payment amount first. After I entered my card info the system said "You are paying $287.00 with card number ending in ****. And yup! They got me for $287.00. I called them and the lady told me to call my card issuer first and if worst comes to worst to call back and she can cancel it but it might take the funds 2 business days to come back to my account. So I called my card issuer, they said since it was still pending to contact the merchant!!! So I called back this new customer service *** said there's nothing they can do since it's a credit card and not a checking account. I tried calling back hoping to get someone else that would help me but nope this time I got an answer of that it's because they use a third party illimg company. So I'm out $287.00!!! I'm currently switching careers so am unemployed at the moment. I have 2 kids that I feed. So to me? And that $287.00 is essential to me and my kids lives. I'm behind on my rent. I need my money. They messed with the wrong unemployed single mom. I will take this to the top. For right now I will make getting my money back my job. It's not about the money it's about the principal. What they are doing g is not right. Essentially stealing from me since I did not authorize a $287.00 I only authorized and $100.00 payment.Review fromAmanda M

1 starWe live in *************, ******* lose power almost every month (I wish I was joking). It's been AT LEAST 8 times this year. I personally work from home so this impacts me & leads to extreme inconvenience. I have never lived anywhere else where I have experiences power outages as much as I have ************ lived in a lot of different states, towns, cities...) It's absolutely absurd how often this happens & Xcel does nothing to prevent it nor do they offer any discount or refund for the constant issues we face with this. If we could switch power companies we would do so in a heartbeat however that's not an option we can partake. You would think being as close to the city as we are that this wouldn't be something to worry about but here we are. Do better Xcel. I don't know what needs to be done to fix & prevent this but you need to do it. This is unexceptable.Review fromChris A

1 starIf there was a zero star option, I would pick it. The absolute worst company to have to deal with. They couldnt care less about their customers. Limited options and access on website, forcing calls to customer service. **************** hold wait times ALWAYS 1 hour minimum. They have a monopoly across multiple states, forcing you to only use their company. No other options available. 0/10 do not recommend. They should be sued. Unreliable, self centered, self serving, greedy monopoly. Worst business Ive ever dealt with. This business is an ideal example of what is wrong with America.Review fromJohnny G

1 starAbhorrently run company. Wont turn power back on for hours after paying full bill, unable to get in touch with customer service and wait times are over an HOUR every single time to call. This is recurring in ****** ** in the middle of winter and freezing temperatures. When you request an email for any of their automated services which they essentially force you to use, it NEVER shows up. The worst operating company I have had the displeasure of being forced to deal with. Company is extremely predatory and holds a monopoly. Best you can do is leave a review here and go **** yourself.
