    I purchased a AVALIR2 Kirby vacuum 5-23-22 and at that time I wasn’t sure of the way I wanted to pay for the vacuum so a Kirby representative set me up with Preferred Credit, Inc. My first and main question was to ask if there was a prepayment penalty and I was assured there was not!!! I decided a few weeks later that I did not want to make monthly payments and forwarded check #358 for the entire amount to Preferred Credit on 6-20-22. The check cleard my checking account on June 27th . I just received an invoice in the mail from Preferred Credit for $259.14 in interest??? The contract stated the interest on this account would be 13.99%. In what scenario does 13.99% interest for 30 days add up to $259.14? This account was opened approx 30 days and they want to charge me $259.14 in interest??? This is outrageous and as a 8 yr old consumer I feel I am being scammed by Preferred Credit.

In addition, all contracts are constructed to help ensure the consumer understands the financing that is requested in accordance with applicable state and federal law. Nevertheless, we wish to take this opportunity to remind any Preferred Credit, Inc. customer that through the use of policy, procedure, internal controls, training and auditing, our business operations have been structured to ensure that our account servicing meets all business and legal standards. Additionally, we internally maintain quality assurance, monitoring and training to help ensure that each customers account and concerns are handled properly and with the quality and care they deserve. Anything that does not meet our standards for customer service will be addressed through appropriate action. As a company it is a personal goal to strive to do what is right, not what is easy.     My problem with this company is it was mostly by phone along with a verbal online signature to a ************************************************************************************************************************* the mail. During our initial phone call, my main two questions were wanting to know the percentage rate AND if there was a pre-payment penalty. The answer was *****% rate with NO PRE-PAYMENT PENALTY!!! I ended up sending a check for the entire amount I financed approximately 30 -32 days later expecting I would have to pay the interest for those thirty days. The amount I have been billed is more than double the amount of interest they are billing me for!!!

    I called to ask for a grace period on my payment for the month of July. She said she could give a 10 day grace period from the day of automatic withdrawal on July 25 to August 2. The payment came out of my account automatically on July 25! When I called to complain I was told a “supervisor” would call me back. He did & basically said a refund would probably not be back in my bank account before the other payment on August 2 would come out of my account & no guarantees at what he could do. REALLY!! This company is definitely not telling the truth about things & I’m stuck with this mess for along time. I would never recommend using BBB. I don’t trust them.
